General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by Mrbigz8657,

Ok I have two components to sell off first one is the new creator houses i have 8 31068 i have 2 31069 i have 2 31067 looking for 300. You can make an offer but I think it’s fair the other lot I have is every lego batman movie set that was made including the magazines the foil packs a case of both minifigures and anything else that was batman movie related. They are not in minto condition. They are some creases here and there no tears and nothing has been opened. I even have the lunchbox that comes with the dvd. So looking at retail I’d say 2000 and that would give you everything else free and ncluding the minifigure cases and polybags and th…

Testing out a new scale we received as a gift. It accurately weighs a test weight, however, while weighing a number of sealed sets (all of which were purchased from Lego shop at home or in store) we are getting different weights. For example, all of 6 Old Fishing Stores are showing different weights. The differences range from 2 to 8 grams. One box seems weigh out of the range at 30 grams heavier. We are finding a 2 to 10 gram variation in a number of sealed sets. We were hoping to use weight when checking other set purchases from retailers such as Walmart. Is this variance in weight of sealed sets normal? Is there a variance range that would be considered "safe" …

My wife and I are new to collecting. We had our first real lego adventure today. This morning my wife and I went and got the sets we wanted to build next. My wife got Old Fishing Shop. I got tower bridge. We decided to stop at a thrift shop. We found 2 gallon baggies of legos for $3.99 each. I got them home and so far as I can tell. there are four sets. Mars Mission 9694, Creator 3in1 Jet 4953, Lego Racers 8153, And an unidentified as of yet Mars mission large set. We also found a lego board game there. lol We then stopped at another thrift store and bought 3 totes full of legos. These all appear to be from the 80s with a ton of minifigures. My wife had been dyi…

  4. Newbie Here, I've looked at the Bricklink marketplace and have a few questions regarding how pricing is determined. Being in the US I notice that there are a lot of re-sellers in a wide variety of locations (Asia, Europe, Australia along with the US). Question... In your brick stores, do you see most of your customers being local, your regional geographic area (Europe, North America, Asia), or is it random? Reason I ask is that I see many of the US sellers with slightly higher prices compared to Europe and Asian stores. This is a generality, based upon the sets I looked up, not individual pieces. Thanks for your feedback

As this year comes to a close, we have much profit to be thankful for. 12 months of buying, selling, and dealing with the wonderful customers. Was there anything special for you that stood out this year? A great deal on an item to flip? Flip something for an out of this world profit? A special customer who really made your year? A special buy was finding someone's hidden stash of First Order Star Destroyers. A special sale was flipping 50 x 75119 Jyn Erso Buildables for a $450 profit I also had a very "special" buy on eBay that offered me a bag of used marital aids. Thankfully he didn't deliver. …

  8. I just received my largest Brickowl quote request and wanted to get advice before submitted the quote. The order is from a new user in China, requesting a 13440 parts (not sets) totaling over $1800USD. I'm a bit hesitant since this is a new user (18 hour old account) and for an order that's going to take me 3-4 hours to pack and put me out a lot of $$ if things go south. I believe I can get insurance to cover that amount, but I can't give the buyer any idea on import fees, which I know are high in China. Any suggestions based on past experiences from the group? It's a 24lb box that's $124 USD to ship before insurance...

  9. This is my 4th year doing this, and I've noticed that when the Black Friday deals were plentiful (i.e. last 2 years), there wasn't as much clearance items. Black Friday 2017 was pretty good in that I found lots of stuff at over 30% off, while many of the sets I liked were hovering around 20% off or less in 2018. However, I did like all the deals on the exclusives this year. It seemed in my first year, the deals seemed to be coming out of the woodwork after Black Friday and after Christmas. I wonder if it will be that way this year, with lots of stuff on clearance. Any thoughts?

  10. I am trying to neaten up some of my mountains of paperwork, and want to get your two cents - I've been keeping my received packing lists/invoices since I've been doing this, but really don't have much use for them if I don't need to return anything. Do you guys keep these? If so, other than for return duration/verification purposes, how long do some of you keep packing slips/shipping invoices? Do you keep them in addition to e-receipts/receipts? Or one of the other? Thanks!

Starting up my store soon and need bags. What size does everyone recommend and where would be a good place to purchase them? I would be selling a variety of bricks and minifigures so probably need a variety of sizes. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

  13. Just a random observation of something that's happened a few times now. Back in the summer I bought a whole bunch of the DC Super Heroes cheap sets on clearance and they sat on my shelves for months, unloved. Then yesterday one of the Wonder Woman dorm rooms sold, I raised the price $5, then another sold, raised the price $5, then the last one sold. Something similar happened around this time last year where I had 3 of the most recent pirate ships sit for months and then they all sold on the same weekend. Makes me wonder if some youtuber or mommy blogger somewhere suddenly posted a video review recommendation or something. I see that the price for the Wonder Woman dorm is…

Do you sell on Amazon? Ebay? Both? I've been selling on Amazon for 3+ years, mostly sealed sets and minifigures, mostly FBA over the past year and FBM before that. I'm thinking of switching over to Ebay for a variety of reasons, and I'm curious what your preferences are for these platforms. I've also dabbled in local sales (Craigslist, FB Marketplace, OfferUP, etc.) but my area is to budget conscious to move any significant amount of product. Which platform do you prefer and why?

I have 3 old lego brand cars (vw bug, mercedes coupe and a for something) that are small metal cars with clear garages that the door open on. I also have a bunch of lego gears (red large, blue medium and white small) and lot of green plastic moulded trees that i was told are from lego as well (although there are no markings on them). Are these worth anything?

How does everyone handle their receipts for book keeping? I am noticing more and more of my receipts are fading very quickly. Anyone have suggestions for digital management of receipts?

Hi! i have a collection I’ve vintage Lego that I hope to sell, but I don’t even know where to begin. Many of the sets have no price guide so I have no idea what their value is. Most are in the original boxes (all opened), appear to be complete, with instructions. I’ve taken a few photos. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jerad Not sure if the moon set is complete. Also not sure if the signal set is complete, and the 939 set has had all the stickers fall off. Plus a couple of random sign pieces.

  19. Hi all, not sure if this is the right section or if this type of request is allowed here, apologies if this is not the case! Also, please feel free to move if in the wrong section. I am looking for full sealed minifigure series 1, 2, 3 & 7 (ideally 2 full sealed series of each). If you are willing to give good price then happy to buy all in one go from one person. My location is London/UK. Thank you!

Hi there, good people! I have a Mr. Rebrick minifigure (I won it in 2017, but it has the classic face, no sunglasses, dunno if it was a mistake or what). I know it have been sold on eBay for $350 and there are currently 2 being sold on Bricklink, one for $460 and the other for $500. My question is: as more Rebrick contests get held, this minifigure is gonna become less and less rare, right? Should I sell it now or should I keep it and pray for a new version to get released soon, making the one I got more rare? Thanks in advance for your attention!

  22. Hello Everyone, This is my very first post and I'm reaching out because I need a little help. I just acquired a sealed mint LEGO 1068 Air Patrol Extreme Team (1999) set and I'm trying to assess a value. I have searched everywhere. I have found plenty of used sets with no box ranging from $2 to $10, but no sets new in a factory sealed box. The only pricing information I have come across is actually on this site has an American value of $295. I have reached out to the creators of BrickPicker with no luck of a response. Can anyone confirm the value and/or have some sort of history information pertaining to this set? Rick

Some of you might remember I posted this Summer about selling off a 1,000+ collection of Lego to raise money for a new home purchase. I input everything into Brickfolio and discovered I had 1,098 sets valued at $55k. I started selling the sets selectively on Craigslist and Amazon and raised about $16-18k over the last month and then came into my warehouse this morning only to discover that most of my remaining sets have been stolen. The Sheriff's department just left, but it is pretty obvious the suspects knew what they were looking for, they took some sets and left others. They hauled out a couple hundred sets and even stole two moving dollies in the process.…

  25. Hello all! Have recently come across a peculiar minifigure and haven't been able to find much on it. Kevin Hinkle was the former AFOL community project manager for LEGO. Hinkle was recently laid off at the end of the 2017 year, and unfortunately no longer with tlg. These minifigures were apparently handed out by these LEGO executives like business cards. See below: Anyway, what would this guy be worth?
