General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. I would like to sell my box of Legoland 6374 . The box has never been opened and the outer covering is still sealed. This Lego is even blistered (see photos) It is an unique collectorsitem. Is anyone interested in buying this set and how much would you pay for it? Keep in mind that it is a collectorsitem and there are only 2 to be found on the internet in this condition! Kind regards!

  2. Hi, I purchased a 10179 MF last week from seller JackMcDonald in the UK and transferred the money via bank. He has plenty of good reviews, so it did not seem risky at the time. Since transferring the money he does not respond anymore. I gave him a negative rating to warn other people for him. In return, he gave me a bad review, which really hurts my three years of positive reviews here. The guy is still getting positive reviews from a couple of accounts repeatedly, which makes me think he might have hacked a couple of accounts in order to build a positive review legacy. I tried Bricklink to do something about this, but they only cancelled the order. Since I …

I don't know how I missed this, but the new Dimentional Weight pricing is going to hurt when selling any of the larger sets. Just wanted to point out the change so you guys are prepared. Hi, few hours ago I have just built my first lego set LEGO Ideas 21309 NASA Apollo Saturn V it was an amazing experience. I would like to build next, please can you suggest me some good lego set? Number of pcs 1500 and more and I would like space theme but When I was searching I did not found anything space themed like NASA Apollo Saturn. Im not big fan of star wars series but maybe it would be okay too. Thank you for every suggestion.

  6. We operate a small souvenir gift shop in a beach town in Michigan. The town is packed from Memorial Day thru Labor Day and the town only has a junky toy shop (with no LEGO). I've thought about adding a few display cases with individual minifigures, packs of Collectible Series minifigures, smaller sets (polybags) and the like to satisfy those parents looking to keep their kids happy. I wouldn't have room for large sealed sets, and I'm not sure the market would be there for those. Anyone have any experience or war stories to share from brick & mortar retail? Or even convention sales? I'm trying to figure out what items would be most in demand, etc. Thanks!

My mother had a Lego Model Team 5540 sitting in a closet for YEARS. She gave it to my son today as a birthday gift. It is brand new in the box, one side-seal is broken and there are some minor scrapes/rips on the box but, not on any of the pictures. This isn't the light blue box but, the dark blue one with the flap that opens to reveal the inner plastic tray. I'm trying to figure out what the value of this thing would be. Based on the "Average" value, I see around $50, however, I've also seen numbers between $100-200 and there are some people selling them on ebay for $400-695 (which is nuts). My son only cares about the value on this because he is saving up …

  9. I'm curious to see everyone's perspective on long term potential of Lego Dimensions Starter Sets All formats, as well story, level, and team packs. Anyone buying and keeping for long term or selling now. I picked up a big lot of them a while back and making money on them just wondering if I should keep raising the price or leave them at current levels since it looks like i'm the only one left with any stock now. I'm considering some of it bulk as well. Since I want to free up some cash flow too.

Hey everyone, Decided to take a shot at BrickStock and unfortunately I hit a roadblock instantly. A lot of Youtube videos tell me to go into preferences and connect my BrickLink store via the network tab. I have done this, but received no "confirmation or denial" that is connected. I assume it hasn't though because I go to Import and try to import my store inventory and the option simply isn't there for me. Was this the difference between free and paid version? Or am I missing something simple. Maybe it cannot connect to your current BL store anymore due to lack of support? Any help is appreciated!

Testing out a new scale we received as a gift. It accurately weighs a test weight, however, while weighing a number of sealed sets (all of which were purchased from Lego shop at home or in store) we are getting different weights. For example, all of 6 Old Fishing Stores are showing different weights. The differences range from 2 to 8 grams. One box seems weigh out of the range at 30 grams heavier. We are finding a 2 to 10 gram variation in a number of sealed sets. We were hoping to use weight when checking other set purchases from retailers such as Walmart. Is this variance in weight of sealed sets normal? Is there a variance range that would be considered "safe" …

My wife and I are new to collecting. We had our first real lego adventure today. This morning my wife and I went and got the sets we wanted to build next. My wife got Old Fishing Shop. I got tower bridge. We decided to stop at a thrift shop. We found 2 gallon baggies of legos for $3.99 each. I got them home and so far as I can tell. there are four sets. Mars Mission 9694, Creator 3in1 Jet 4953, Lego Racers 8153, And an unidentified as of yet Mars mission large set. We also found a lego board game there. lol We then stopped at another thrift store and bought 3 totes full of legos. These all appear to be from the 80s with a ton of minifigures. My wife had been dyi…

  15. Newbie Here, I've looked at the Bricklink marketplace and have a few questions regarding how pricing is determined. Being in the US I notice that there are a lot of re-sellers in a wide variety of locations (Asia, Europe, Australia along with the US). Question... In your brick stores, do you see most of your customers being local, your regional geographic area (Europe, North America, Asia), or is it random? Reason I ask is that I see many of the US sellers with slightly higher prices compared to Europe and Asian stores. This is a generality, based upon the sets I looked up, not individual pieces. Thanks for your feedback

Hi all, I couldn't find a thread along these lines, so thought it would be worth starting a discussion. Have many of you run pop-up shops before? I've run a number at local LEGO shows/toy shows, and figured there may be a lot we can learn from each others experiences. I've gradually grown my main popup over 5 years, now running a ~8m frontage and two registers. We typically have 3 staff to run the space, and use Vend as our POS as it's fairly easy to upload by excel stock files and manage payments etc. I actually didn't manage to get any photos of my last big show, but here's some from a small show we did earlier last year and the year before. I've see…

As this year comes to a close, we have much profit to be thankful for. 12 months of buying, selling, and dealing with the wonderful customers. Was there anything special for you that stood out this year? A great deal on an item to flip? Flip something for an out of this world profit? A special customer who really made your year? A special buy was finding someone's hidden stash of First Order Star Destroyers. A special sale was flipping 50 x 75119 Jyn Erso Buildables for a $450 profit I also had a very "special" buy on eBay that offered me a bag of used marital aids. Thankfully he didn't deliver. …

  20. I just received my largest Brickowl quote request and wanted to get advice before submitted the quote. The order is from a new user in China, requesting a 13440 parts (not sets) totaling over $1800USD. I'm a bit hesitant since this is a new user (18 hour old account) and for an order that's going to take me 3-4 hours to pack and put me out a lot of $$ if things go south. I believe I can get insurance to cover that amount, but I can't give the buyer any idea on import fees, which I know are high in China. Any suggestions based on past experiences from the group? It's a 24lb box that's $124 USD to ship before insurance...

  21. This is my 4th year doing this, and I've noticed that when the Black Friday deals were plentiful (i.e. last 2 years), there wasn't as much clearance items. Black Friday 2017 was pretty good in that I found lots of stuff at over 30% off, while many of the sets I liked were hovering around 20% off or less in 2018. However, I did like all the deals on the exclusives this year. It seemed in my first year, the deals seemed to be coming out of the woodwork after Black Friday and after Christmas. I wonder if it will be that way this year, with lots of stuff on clearance. Any thoughts?

  22. I am trying to neaten up some of my mountains of paperwork, and want to get your two cents - I've been keeping my received packing lists/invoices since I've been doing this, but really don't have much use for them if I don't need to return anything. Do you guys keep these? If so, other than for return duration/verification purposes, how long do some of you keep packing slips/shipping invoices? Do you keep them in addition to e-receipts/receipts? Or one of the other? Thanks!

Starting up my store soon and need bags. What size does everyone recommend and where would be a good place to purchase them? I would be selling a variety of bricks and minifigures so probably need a variety of sizes. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

  25. Just a random observation of something that's happened a few times now. Back in the summer I bought a whole bunch of the DC Super Heroes cheap sets on clearance and they sat on my shelves for months, unloved. Then yesterday one of the Wonder Woman dorm rooms sold, I raised the price $5, then another sold, raised the price $5, then the last one sold. Something similar happened around this time last year where I had 3 of the most recent pirate ships sit for months and then they all sold on the same weekend. Makes me wonder if some youtuber or mommy blogger somewhere suddenly posted a video review recommendation or something. I see that the price for the Wonder Woman dorm is…
