General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by Bold-Arrow,

Is the coupon transferable? I have one that expires tomorrow and I have no plans to use it and would rather see it goes to someone that might need it

  2. Started by donliu,

Not sure what to do. I listed a 31313 and someone from Pakistan bought it without using the GSP. I guess its alright since I can still use USPS. My problem is the buyer has 0 feedback. I made sure when I made the listing that it wouldnt sell to anyone with a negative feedback but that didn't stop this guy from buying it since he doesn't have any feedback Im assuming if I cancel it he might put negative feedback on me now. If it wasn't a $350 item and maybe a $50 item I wouldn't worry bout it to much. What would u do in this situation?

I've bought a few lots of unsorted bricks lately, and after picking out a few sets I was looking to get rid of some of them. What's the best way to make the most money with them? Better to sort by color or by type?

I am thinking of buying Vampyre Castle at $96. It would save me almost $7 in taxes plus free shipping. I just don't want to have to deal with boxes again that are dented, rubbed edges, etc., as I want to hold on to this set for investment in the future. I had to return one large set to Lego that was dented, ordered 3 sets from TRU and am waiting for the store to get in some more sets so I can exchange one set that was bad. None of these were because of damage in shipment - just damage I assume in the warehouse. We do not live near a Lego store where you could pick out a box that was in mint condition.

I found 2 lego sets in my cupboard that had been stashed away for over 10 years waiting to be given as gifts. But now I want to sell them. But I have no idea what they are worth. They are number 3401 Zidane soccer set and 3431 NBA basketball set. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hi, Anyone have any tips on cheap international shipping for larger lego sets from the UK. I have lots of large sets that I will probably sell in the future on ebay but the international postage/shipping costs seem prohibitively expensive and therefore limiting my market. Any advice or people with experience would be appreciated? Also for those of you in USA, Australia, or continental Europe, what would you pay for shipping and still be happy with the price? (Use 2507 Ninjago Fire Temple or 9468 Vampyre Castle as an example) thanks.

  9. We've discussed parting out a set for profit, and also about listing a set with the minifigures removed, but what about the opposite? My question may be more for builders than collectors but here goes. Have you ever bought a set for parts and only listed the minifigures to sell? On some sets I'm okay with having more than one of a character (Troopers, Soldiers, Knights, etcetera), but some have very unique ones (Mace Windu, Yoda, so on) that at best I'm okay with two. For the most part, I buy a lot of sets just for the parts. Characters are great but, as I said, I don't always need that many of certain characters. At the least I was thinking that if I wer…

My mom passed away on Monday and my dad showed me these in her closet. He was going to give them to the grand kids to open up but I suggested we price check them first. It looks like they are fairly valuable and I think we could sell them and buy some new sets to give the kids (I know the 8 year old would love the new mindstorm set that is coming out). Here is what I found: 7715 Push-Along Passenger Steam Train 1985 7817 Crane Wagon 1985 6972 Polaris I Space Lab 1987 6921 Monorail Accessory Track 1988 Should I bother putting these on Craigslist first or should I go straight to creating an ebay account so I get maximum exposure (and hopefully bids)?

Not sure if this applicable to anyone here, but I was just now eating Oreos (Reduced Fat, unfortunately!) and reading the Chicago Tribune. Front page article says that the state of Illinois is thinking about charging sales tax on online businesses. Now this may not affect very many of us, because most of us didn't have $1 million or more of sales last year. Never the less, what ticks me off the most is that the state governors are claiming that they "[are] not talking about imposing a new tax. Not at all." Lordy, sales tax was around before the internet, so since it wasn't included in the initial bill/law, then it of course is a new tax! Isn't that the reason why we sell …

  13. Ok, this is on topic but not, so bear with me. Barnes & Noble are running this promotion online (unsure if it in store or not) for DVDs and BluRays. How does this relate to Lego you may ask? Very simple. The Clark Kent minifig is given away with the Lego Batman Movie - DC Superheroes Unite. Current price is $14.51. 3 sets for $29.02 before freight wherever you are, average of $9.67 The minifig itself is selling on Bricklink for no less than $16. And you get a dvd. Make of it what you will, but I ordered a few!

  16. Started by LegoManiac1984,

Hey All, I have the unfortunate task of selling my dads collection! I had someone advise me to sell the minifigs separate and then just sell all the sets as lbs of bulk pieces. I was wondering if that is really the best route considering half of the sets are discontinued. The majority of the sets are Star Wars but also include many others. Discontinued sets are of the old clone wars era, Hoth, and Ewok, and some specific ships. Before I list anything, i was just wondering what some more expert opinions are. Condition of all sets are that they are displayed in varying combat scenarios or hug as if they are flying in a dedicated space. They are all well car…

  17. I have one of the Gold Chrome 1-10000 C3POs that were given away at Comic Con a few years back. I need to have it evaluated and have its condition legally documented. Does anyone know of a reliable appraiser for Legos in the Orange County/LA County area of Southern California? Thanks. Theatrix

I recently bought the set and being an absolute completest, I like to have the "extra items" that came with the set. Can someone tell me how many "Plastic Flag 8 x 5 with White Skull and Crossed Cutlasses Pattern" parts came with the set? Did it come with 3 total?

  20. I know a lot of stocked up before knowing that it probably is around another year. I am becoming more bullish so I decided to dump my stock. I got most of them around 80$. Well, they are sold out about everywhere. Ebay is trending up and up - now up to $160ish. I sold two for $160 last night. If you want to offload them ( as you should be able to easily get more next year) now is the time.

The title says it all, a poll to see who likes Amazon or eBay better. Once you get done voting feel free to leave a story about the online store you chose..... or the one you didn't. I personally like Amazon.

  22. Does anyone know if this is possible? Kind of like how you can see recently sold items on eBay? Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  23. Hi everyone, How and where do I post deals that I have for sale? I have a few exclusive sets for someone living in the L.A area. Thanks.

  24. Started by mahler24,

I have a question........Im the kind of invester who doesnt buy more than 2 or 3 of 1 set unless its dramatically reduced, so usually im buying bits of everything that i think will go up in price. Is this a good strategy?? Or should i be buying bulk amounts of 1 set? In the past month or 2 i have started buying just 2 of every set......And just sets that i like.......but i cant help but think that i should buy some sets in bulk??

  25. Ive seen posts on here about where to sell lego's and I've noticed it is harder to interact on here. I came upon a website that looks like it is still being built but is up and running. From what I see it has an auction however it isn't completed yet. It also looks as if it is a facebook for collectors of some type. Maybe a new avenue to sell and buy collectables. if you want to check it out www.nerdinout.com.
