General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by stackables,

I scored a great deal on almost the entire run of the lego viking theme on ebay but a couple of the sets are missing some pieces. Of cousre I plan on bricklinking the missing pieces. This gets me to my big pet peeve about most bricklink stores. It seems most stores charge an "additional materials and handling fee". I can stomach maybe 50 cents but shouldn't getting the parts and shipping them be part of doing business on bricklink? You can get padded evenlopes on bulk for less than 10 cents a piece. I see stores who charge an additional $1.50 and fees. That seems like a lot to me. I can understand stores don't like to handle small orders, then just have a minimum or…

Hi there, I am looking for Lego resellers in US particularly tax free state (you lucky peeps). -I buy Legos in bulk particularly exclusive sets to ship to my country. -I will arrange courier to pickup so all you need to do is get the Lego sets on request, fill some form and package it nicely. -I make full payment before shipping so no worries on your side (although mutual trust will need to be established for first contact) If you are interested, please PM me for further discussion. Thanks.

Just a heads up... There is a store called Tuesday Morning which is basically a buy-out store. I popped into one today and saw a few Lego sets. Nothing I wanted (Minotaurus game, mining truck, and another game), but, if you are ever near one of these stores, it might not be a bad idea to see if they have anything you might be interested in.

Would you sell those 2 sets together or separate? And do you think this Christmas is a good moment to sell them or do you think they will increase their value?

  6. Hi everyone, How and where do I post deals that I have for sale? I have a few exclusive sets for someone living in the L.A area. Thanks.

  7. Hi everyone. I just wanted to share with you the several vintage 70's lego sets I have up for auction on Ebay. These sets are incomplete but come with boxes and instructions for the most part. Believe it or not these were given to me by a person whose husband passed away and she did not want anything to do with the legos that he had. They were pratically almost placed in the trash until they were rescued. Check them out if anyone is interested in having old vintage legos for display. Buying or selling...just curious what other members have forked over or received. Cash is king. Any interesting or memorable stories? I'm a small time investor/flipper so selling 2 mint Crawler 41999 to a local buyer (kjijij) gave me $1000. By far my highest cash transaction. Without fees I thought it was good enough flip...but part of me did want to keep one in case the value climbs to +$1000 range and have something pretty exclusive brand new, mint and unopened. Oh well, it was fun having it for 2-3wks

This has been an extremely informative site. I have decided to try my hand at investing in a few lego sets as it seems like a fun hobby to help fund a personal collection. I found LoTR Weathertop on clearance for $20 each at my local Walmart and bought a few. I also picked up a Hulk Breakout for $35. I bought a few others but these are the main ones I have a question about. At what point is it a good idea to sell? I realize no one may no the perfect time as sets go up and down, but I would like to hear your opinions. The average price listed on this site now for either of those sets are over $50 so I could already try to make a profit, but should I expect prices to …

I was out running errands and stopped into one of our cities many thrift stores yesterday and in the toy section I saw 5 big bags of Lego sitting there. I have found some Lego recently but nothing like this. So for a grand total of 27.32(give or take a few pennies) I walked out with what is at least 30-35 pounds of the good stuff. I was absolutely stoked! I could tell right off the bat that there was plenty of star wars as well as one bag that had been specifically sorted to have town pieces in it. This is going to take me a while to sift through but based on the minifigs I have found thus far and certain unique parts I have thus far determined that the follo…

Does anyone think it might be worth it to buy two of the Sydney Opera House 10234 during the VIP early buying period to quickly try and sell for a profit to those too eager to wait? What do you think this set might go for on ebay doing this? It's way to early to buy these and sit on them for awhile, but would the profit be worth trying this quick flip? Thanks for any responses.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I did my due diligence and couldn't find an answer otherwise. Is there a forum on this site where folks can offer sets for trade? I've actually swapped a couple sets through conversations on the site and have found it a great way to access items that I can't find here in my somewhat limited market. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently bought the set and being an absolute completest, I like to have the "extra items" that came with the set. Can someone tell me how many "Plastic Flag 8 x 5 with White Skull and Crossed Cutlasses Pattern" parts came with the set? Did it come with 3 total?

  14. Hey all, I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this, and my apologies if this has been covered before. As stated before, I am recently back from the dark ages. I have 3 young kids (2-5) and I'm looking for some bulk stuff to let them (and myself ) use their imagination for builds without having to break up/mix up sets. I'm looking at some local CL type of stuff, but I really don't have much of an idea of what to look for or how to determine what is a good deal and what isn't. For example, there is a listing locally here for ~12 grocery bags of Lego. Seller says it is made up of City and Town stuff (specifically stated there is no Star Wars). They a…

I was hoping someone could give me some insight into selling new in box lego sets on amazon. I am very familiar with selling on ebay, but was thinking about opening an amazon selling account as well. How do the two compare? Do sets on amazon move anywhere as fast as they can on ebay assuming you have a reasonable/competitive price? Any insight would be appreciated!

  16. Here is the link: http://www.shopko.com/detail/lego-star-wars-at-st--endor/45632 I tried to order this once before but after three weeks it was canceled out. I decided I'll try again. Results may vary. I couldn't find anything else worth ordering to get free shipping, but the planets came out to about four dollars a piece for me, and to me that's a deal. Happy Hunting!

I found 2 lego sets in my cupboard that had been stashed away for over 10 years waiting to be given as gifts. But now I want to sell them. But I have no idea what they are worth. They are number 3401 Zidane soccer set and 3431 NBA basketball set. Thanks in advance.

Hey all, I'm sure nearly all of you have had to deal with taping up your shipping boxes when mailing sets off to customers. I've reached a stage where I'm tired of wrestling with those disposable red dispensers from Staples and would like to purchase something more professional. I'm looking for recommendations, advice, pros, cons, loves, hates. Thank you!

Greetings: I was reading the thread a few weeks ago with the rainbow 10179 and the reference and link to ebay for the custom black version. I know it's time consuming to go this route for 10179 or other big builds such as Taj Mahal, but what's the feeling typically on the money making side of this venture? I only really see the custom 10179 and there was money made on that one. My apologies if this is a thread already somewhere else. I looked for it but didn't find anything. Thanks as always!

Hi all, I've bought another used lot of lego and after sorting it all and putting the minifigures together, I went about figuring out what sets they came from. Now I've got a long list of lego sets to put back together, but the problem is that these are all older sets (think 1990's-2002) and the manuals didn't have an inventory list at the end of them. Do you know of a good website that provides a 'printable' list of inventory pieces? I'm currently just using toysperiod, but I can't print it or else it would be 15 pages alone for each sets' inventory!! Not actually sure this exists, but it would sure be a huge time saver!
