LEGO Questions & Answers

A forum to post questions and have the community answer them

  1. I have quite a few of the old catalog pamphlet inserts that you would get with a set you purchased. They are all in very good condition. Just curious if these have any value to any collectors. These are the bigger ones, there are several of each, plus lots of smaller ones.

Hope this is the right place for this kind of question. If not, maybe someone can point me to the right forum. I've never tried a STEM-type build but realized an upcoming DIY project I'm planning would be amazing done in brick. Happy to provide more info if needed but, for brevity, my end goal is a motor and gear ratio setup that can do 6 Nm and between 120 - 300 rpm. (Anywhere near that range would be acceptable.) I never would have thought of going LEGO for this project but recently saw a video that used LEGO to twist a steel axle. I had no idea it could generate that kind of torque. Thanks for any help!

I've noticed on a few sets on Amazon, there is an option to purchase the set with "frustration-free packaging." I'm assuming I should stay away from these if I'm looking to resell the set, but we all know what happens when you assume so I figured I would ask. What do you guys think?

With brickfolio all but dead, what are investors using to keep track of their sets and to get updated pricing. I have seen various options on Bricklink, Brickset and even some newer apps. I am just wondering what the community is using. There is always the option of going old school with a spreadsheet and manually check current values (too much work.)

My wife has about 38 minifigures and just moved into a new office. She wants to display them in a picture frame style display...something that can hold about 50 minifigures so that she has space to add more. She was looking at Amazon but then I told her I would ask here to see if anyone has any suggestions. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks in advance! So, here’s a quick story……moved a few years back and packed everything in ziploc bags. Never got around to pulling everything back out. I’m at a cross roads of opening back up my BL store or just selling off inventory but I’d really like to get a few ideas on storing the parts for resale. Is anybody doing this now and if so how are you storing your parts to fill orders? I just used storage bins in the past and was always a nightmare when you were trying to find what you needed. Thanks!!

I didn't think this would be so difficult when I had an idea of how I wanted to display my minifigs. I want to display some standing on a studded floor and some attached to a back wall as they look better displayed with their backs to a wall. (It's the Muppets minifigs) I've looked at all kinds of display boxes and none really do the trick. I'm on the verge of just attaching 2 bases to a square rod but I'd like to see it as a wall and a floor. I even looked for hinges but can't seem to find anything that will allow studs on wall and floor. --this way I can fold the grid flat if I need to move things. I have a simple idea in my head but I can't execute it. I would reall…

Recently I bought some Lego scout troopers from 2013 I think from eBay with a seller with 100% positive feedback. But anyways inside the helmets it has numbers 2,3,4 I just want to know if this is like an old kind of trade mark or if they are fake? Appreciate any advice .

  10. Hey, I recently purchased a sealed UCS sand crawler. Ive had nearly 25-30 brittle brown pieces break as I've built the set. Ive received replacements for a few broken pieces from older sets every now and then over the years but would lego really replace this many pieces at once? Worried about potentially getting flagged in their system.

Hello, I want to make a lego useless box with lego powered up motors, i want to use 1 motor as a sensor (to notice the lever is pulled) and the other motor to put the lever back. But now i need a lego powered up program for it. The program needs to be that if the 1st motor is turned a specific amount of degrees the other motor will be triggered and go turn a amount of degrees and back. Can someone send me a program for this? Because i tried but it didnt work out.

I have a few of these two inch by four inch Lego bricks. Can anyone tell me if they have a special name or is there anything unique about them? I've tried looking around online and haven't come up with anything. Thanks in advance. Walt

Hi, could someone please help a Lego Mummy? I loved Lego as a kid but put it aside as an adult and now I'm out of practice 😂. My kids are getting into in and I've dug out my old seige tower set which they are loving. The only issue is it's missing a wall piece. Can anyone suggest how I might replicate it without having to buy a new panel from eBay? And also if it's not too much trouble, how I might fashion a drawbridge?

Has any international buyers purchased large Lego sets from Selfridges? Just curious about their packaging methods. I'm in the USA.

  20. Hi. I got the Stranger Things Upside Down Lego set. Its super cool and loved putting it together. In the end though I noticed there is some stress with the model. Namely the roof doesn't like to stay on nicely. Also at the back middle it kinda pops open. When I look online I do not see this anywhere. I am curious if anybody might know where I went wrong? I feel like I put it together correctly and that if I didn't it wouldn't work at all. The image I attached should help. I'm curious if it could some how be in the foundation. Like something was offset in there or something ended up in there. From what I can tell no though because I can kinda push stuff t…

  21. Am I missing something obvious, I used to be able to check if my local Lego Store has a set in stock but just in the last few days, I am no longer able to do this... I've checked on multiple computers and my phone and still can't find the option to do it? Is this new or just me?

I know, odd to think of nothing but audio about a hands-on and visual building toy, but I often listen to a variety of podcasts while I'm at work during the day. So I thought, why not expand my knowledge on LEGO? Does anyone know of any podcasts or audio shows about it? Maybe just history, or even investing? Anything really, just wanna learn more about it while I have some headphones and eight hours of time.
