LEGO Masters TV series
Belac replied to BuckeyeFanDan's topic in General Collecting and Investing Forum
The season 5 winners were good but the Bros were the best builders from the first episode on. I sure they were a bit shocked to not win. Congrats to the winners though -
I look to be entertained watching a lego review. Jang is like anesthesia for me. Instant sleep. MandR is cool and entertaining, in a space dominated by nerds. Not that hes not a nerd. But at least somewhat cool entertaining one. And whether hes biased towards more critical reviews or not. His takes are based on a deep knowledge of star wars and lego and definitely valid.

I don't agree that M&R hates every set that comes out. I'd say he has high expectations based on a long history with the hobby (now career). For example, when he says LEGO would've done a better job on these minifigures 10 years ago, that may be whining but it also matters considering the current value proposition is worse than 10 years ago and newer consumers lack that context. It isn't the best they are capable of (despite their lofty motto) while continually squeezing the YoY profits higher and higher. Jang remains the gold standard. Unfortunately LEGO is pricing (and pre-distributing) him out of many of their flagship sets - no way he spends $1000 (of his own money) on a Death Star at public release just to review it a month after all the pre-loaded LAN slop soaks up the views with pointless positivity.

Drama sells clicks is the short answer, and part of the reason such extreme opinions of dismay have become popularized & normalized across YouTube. When the thumbnail and rant both come across as though somebody had just set their dog on fire, took a dump on the front porch, then pissed in the gas tank before dropping an eviction notice attached to a medical report saying they have cancer plus nine STDs with a bonus UTI, there is no critique to be found. All we have at the moment is a couple images of the included minifigures and some details on the build itself, yet these channels are making statements as if they have seen the complete package already. With so little to actually go on, I find their lack of faith ....boring. While here I am pondering what the heck an official on the shelf $1,000 LEGO set is going to look like.

Supposedly there are two more Star Wars sets coming out this year. 1st one is a Death Star UCS/Master Builder set that contains over 9000 pieces and will retail at 999.99 2nd set is supposedly a 70.00 holiday themed set. Supposedly its a Darth Vader Tie Fighter in gingerbread colors, although i've also heard it's a gingerbread midi scale At-At, but no pictures of it yet to confirm either. Regardless, I want to rant about something. | RANT ON I am finding myself highly annoyed with a majority of lego youtube personalities. After the Death Star was announced, and some information about it was leaked, there was such a whine-fest throughout all the youtube channels. In fact, if you search "Lego Death Star 2025" - all the searches that come up are whinefests. You would think Lego killed their first borns or something, if you watch their videos. I find it highly annoying to even watch 99% of the channels on Youtube. All I want is the information on what's coming out without the whiney crybaby opinions that these so called "influencers" bring to their channels. Let me make my own opinion if I want to buy it or not, I'm not going to be influenced by some dude like M&R productions who obviously profiteers on being a whiney negative nancy 24-7. The dude hates every set that comes out, but he always has to review them, and own them. Why be so into something you hate so much? Get a new hobby. So many channels act like that guy now, and it's left a BIG void on youtube - I'm like Huey Freaking Lewis anymore, and I need a new drug - I want just a simple youtuber that just announces what is coming without giving me his whiney opinion on why it's horrible, and that lego is dead. Lego is not dead, they still make good sets, and they wow me about 3 to 4 times a year with sets. I dont need to be wowed by every set, but THE BEST PART IS NO PICTURE OF THE DEATH STAR SET HAS EVEN LEAKED YET, AND THESE GUYS HAVE ALL MADE UP THEIR OPINIONS! It's a total idiocracy on youtube anymore when it comes to people that have made their personalities about lego content. RANT OFF!

They will give you generally max $20 for a item. I don't have so much fraud just a ton of returns
-
How is fraud and returns in WM compared to Amazon? Also, how much better/worse is Walmart on responding to sellers' requests for reimbursement vs Amazon ?

@Bricklectic

why would business buy lego? we should make a walmart thread unless DD is truly dead
-
Spoke at length, easy investing when they recruit you, but returns and fraud exposure are pretty bad. If you have a lot of listings that were nuked by Amazon, you can command higher prices. Sent from my SM-S911U using Tapatalk

I don’t think you really need to worry about that. Amazon knows that there are no legitimate distributors of Lego as per their policy. but yes , anything you submit to Amazon is there forever. I know ppl getting caught submitting the same invoice that they submitted years ago and just changed the date on it
-
Thanks! My main concern isnt Amazon turning me down. Rather questioning my ungating status if my receipt shows Walmart. In general, all submitted invoices are part of your permanent record. Anytime amazon wants to conduct a wave of new gating they can look at the body of your submissions. Not sure if this thought process is paranoia or smart
-
Yes, they usually do . They only reimburse cost now
-
What does everyone do for FBA discrepancy when purchased through retail? Has anyone successfully used Walmart and Target receipts for reimbursement?

July 2026 Retirement
redcell replied to Brickboy74's topic in LEGO Set Retirement / End of Life (EOL)
I'd say that there is a close to 100% chance that everything tagged as retiring on 7/13/26 is going to retire at this point. Although LEGO has made late changes to their retirement dates in the past, I can't recall them ever changing dates this close to the retirement date. That being said, there is a high likelihood that many of those sets will continue to be available at retail for months to come. It's not like in the old days when stock routinely started drying up before the retirement date arrived.- 1 reply

Hey all. I see there are over 100 sets scheduled to retire on July 31st of 2026 according to Brick Tap. Do people think this will really happen or will LEGO shift a large amount of these sets to 12/31/2026? I’ve only been doing this for a few years and have never seen such a large amount of sets scheduled for mid-year retirement…. Just looking for opinions and ideas from someone who knows more than me. Thanks!

Just for archive purposes - These were the sets for Jurassic World Rebirth wave. Overall the sets are decent, although after watching the movie, it would have made more sense to have a mososaurus and spinosaurus combined into the big set. And some of the vehicles werent really needed in these sets, as there was only one vehicle in the entire movie on that island. But overall the sets all reference parts of the movie, but dont coincide with the correct scenes. I feel they are all good regardless, and if you get all of the sets you will pretty much have all the main dinos and all the most important characters in the movie, plus a couple dioramas from the film. The only thing i hope for next year is one more set. They need to make a 199.99 set with the abandoned ingen containment facility that also comes with a Distortus Rex and a Mutodon. I feel these Rebirth sets arent complete until theres a set with those 2 creatures. Im suprised neither of those 2 were in any set, to be honest.
