  6. Hi everyone! I’m new to the forum but have been a long-time LEGO fan — finally decided to stop lurking and say hi 😊 I started with City sets as a kid, but lately I’ve been really into Technic builds. Just finished the Lamborghini Sian and honestly, I think I stared at the gearbox for an hour after it worked properly My cat tried to steal a wheel mid-build, so that was fun. Aside from LEGO, I’m also getting ready for my school’s homecoming — it’s coming up soon and I’ve been stressing about what to wear. Anyway, excited to be part of this community! Would love to see other people’s builds — especially if you’ve managed to build anything without your cat jumping into the pieces.
  7. Gold returns about 8% a year. I definotely had many, but definitely not all lego sets do a lot better than that.

  12. That's actually a really well done review page. Didn't know people were using instagram to make reviews like that. I think people that are harping about prices are forgetting that lego spent billions of dollars on factories around the world and have to recoup their investment. Also, we have tariffs and inflation in play. Also, as brickpickers, we should be a little honest with ourselves too. If you had purchase a bunch of 75151 Clone Turbo Tanks when that set came out in 2016, you could have resold them for close to 600.00 a few months ago. Even if you bought those at retail back in the day at 109.99, you still are making over 450.00 profit on that set. Lego obviously sees how these sets increase in value like that, and guarantee that has played a role in the price spikes. That's why we are seeing a 1000.00 Death Star this month. The Original Death Star was sold for 399.99 and now sells for about 900 in the box, while the updated version from 2017 can sell for over 1500.00. Lego is obviously trying to capture some of that after market value that they know will happen once the sets retire. Even at 170 retail (which I know wont be what I pay for it since I can wait for the price drops in the coming months), this set will still increase in value beyond it's RRP once it retires. If people do buy it and take care of it, they'll have an asset better than most stocks.
