  2. thanks pseudoty still think I’m a train fan love the tressel more than the train I’m inclined to get it trying to decide on train station vs stud gate any opinions ?
  3. This has been posted before but it's back for those interested (64% off - Amazon). 48% claimed at time of this posting.
  4. It sounded like his main issue was trying to move the bridge for photos while in the middle of building it. That's more of a HE problem than a bridge problem.
  5. We might but the reason they do not get a box is because the sets are not finalized yet so they do not have the box art. Hope Lego fine tunes them. The designer of the Ocean House is the same as the Windmill and his builds are fragile IME. “To be honest, I wish the review ended right there, with an exquisite train. It’s an easy A+, and a full-throated endorsement from me to grab one on June 6th. But Logging Railway tries for more, promising a bridge topped with brick-built track that will work like standard LEGO rails. As we proceed through the build process, you’ll be able to see where and why the concept collapses. It was at this point that I needed to perform my first rebuild of the bridge. Hinged plates began failing as I lifted the frame up off my photo backdrop, and I was left with a bit of a mess. More collapses when adding the black tubing running parallel to the track. Any inaccuracy on how far to insert the tubing into the 1×1 brick with studs on either side caused the supports to buckle and separate from the top rails. Attempts to reconnect the upper rails then led to a full collapse. A similar pattern occurred with the slanted brown tubing, with more rebuilding as I went, trying to triage as best as I could. Conclusions and recommendations I haven’t been reserved with my opinion thus far, so I won’t restate all of it here. For the money, I think there are better offerings in Bricklink Designer Program Series 2. I can’t in good conscience recommend a set that frustrated me repeatedly during the build process. And as good as the train is, it’s not “$200” good. I did Scroll up there are 3 videos of the other sets.
  6. LEGO Creator Expert NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander 10266 Building Toy Set for Ages 16+ (1087 Pieces) 20% off at $79.99 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W4M54CJ Limit 60.
  7. Can anyone post the links to the review sites with the others? I don't know which of the main bloggers got them.
  8. why no on the train ? seriously asking I know they complained about the build and the value but from the review: "As quite possibly one of my favorite LEGO trains to assemble, this is a brilliant, unique design" "It looks phenomenal, conveying all the feeling of a logging railway. I think there’s possibility for this brick-built track to be used in a full circuit, especially when hiding all the spacers under a layer of ballast and inset into a base" so @Pseudoty I trust your input implicity but this is the one set I was actually looking forward too. thoughts ? I also didn't get the original stud gate train station and wish I did so I might get this one vs paying after market for the stud gate : )

  10. McLaren Senna: I knew about all of the “issues” with this set prior to purchasing it: no Marlboro or Goodyear branding, the back wheels/ tires being too narrow (both of which can be corrected by an aftermarket kit) and the poorly printed white over red nose piece. But I really wanted to build this set to the best of my abilities, hiding all the mold injection points where possible and attempting to align the stickers to display well. What I got was a glorified Speed Champions set, there is no way this set should be 18+ and cost $80 more like 12+ and $60. Perhaps if they ditched the display stand and the trophy stand they would have decreased the piece count and the cost. I had a missing piece that was critical to the build so I had to borrow one from another set, the Medieval Blacksmith, while I await the replacement for the 1X2 trans blue plate that isn’t even used in this set but was included instead of a dark grey headlight brick. This is 3 out of the last 7 sets that have had this issue of wrong pieces not to be confused with missing pieces which apparently never happens. The build is straightforward, fast, and enjoyable but nothing above or beyond what you would get with a SC set. Some of the prints look great like the Tag Heuer on the windshield and the MacLaren overlap on the rear spoiler. The tires/wheels are solid one piece and not the usual rubber material, really premium, but would have been better if the rears were wider and all 4 had the Goodyear logo on them. The engine has several silver elements that look great when exposed. The minifigure looks great with detailed printing and helmet and fits in the drivers seat but there are no studs to attach it. If you can get it for 20% off or more I would recommend it to build and display, not sure how fragile it would be to play with for a child. Build: 6 Play: 6 Display: 8 Value: 7 Next up the “Limited Edition” Blue Bolide
  11. I'm not a slave to the retirement list. While I stay mindful of it, I have a really large storage space and my house and car are paid for so I can afford to take advantage of a decent deal without worrying whether it will sell in 6 months or 4 years from now. At 63, all I have to worry about is father time catching up with me. But, if he does, I won't be in any position to care.
  12. Ya, when he put it next to Barracuda it was like a wake-up call. I'm still a slave to classic themes and will have to buy. There is zero investment opportunity here -- why would you spend $230 when you can spend $300 for a Barracuda on eBay? If you own a Barracuda, what will the Isle do for you display or play-wise in comparison? Side note @Pseudoty: let's talk boxes. I remember you being butt hurt about the quality of the old BL boxes. We might get a new and improved box because the reviewers didn't get a box for the review, making me think LEGO might be working on something improved otherwise they would have shipped whatever if the box didn't matter. We still haven't seen the new box in person for Series 1 (it's displayed on the product page though and looks quality to me) and it would make sense for them to produce a sturdy box now that this line has become official.
  13. So there are 3 absolute No’s: Train, Ocean, Pirate and 2 possible Yes’s: the train station and mushroom. https://www.brothers-brick.com/2024/06/01/bricklink-designer-program-series-2-logging-railway-a-trial-of-timber-review/ https://www.tipsandbricks.co.uk/post/2409-set-review-bdp-series-2-mushroom-house

  15. I bought barad fur early this morning with gwp and at the time, I didn’t notice the limit but it was a limit of three. I wonder how many people grabbed a multiple copy of this. I also remember Lego limiting gwp to one per household. I guess we will see. I think they might do a bigger and a better version of fell-beast like Smaug in the lonely mountain set but the wing pieces may stay unique to this set as those pieces were puny compared to ones for Smaug.

  17. Yep. I was initially all in on a day one purchase, then I decided to wait - I don't think the Fell Beast looks all that great - but then we happened to swing by the mall tonight and I popped over to the LEGO store and saw Barad Dur in person. I'll admit, if Fell Beast was still in stock tonight, I would have ordered as soon as I got home. Now I'll just wait, it's not like I have space for for the completed build anyways, but still, they had me hooked for an impulse buy for a bit there, but without the Beast, I'll wait...

  19. ChatGPT says "For Lego set 60304, the City Road Plates, the standard packaging quantity per case is 3 boxes. This information is consistent across multiple sources including BrickLink, where Lego enthusiasts and sellers provide detailed inventories and packaging details. If you're purchasing or planning to store these sets, you can expect each case to contain three individual Lego 60304 sets." But i have no first hand knowledge
  20. I suspect it will freeze some sales for Barad Dur. Regardless it should have been included with the set to begin with though. Orthanc included a Treebeard and was a $200 set at the time of release. Lego is just greedy nowadays.
  21. I’m surprised there are so many people who want the set day one that also wouldn’t want the promo and would want to sell it, this set will probably be able to be had later for at least $100 off later and the goodfellas beast is gone for good.
  22. Kind of wonder if it's the opposite -- genius instead of stupid. How many people will be thinking to themselves the next time a huge fan set is released with a good GWP tag along that they should have bought immediately. Then in the future for a similar release, impulse buy might just buy two instead of one at seeing the initial prices on the FB set. Also, next time, Lego decides to 1.5 - 2x the amount of GWP sets they make available. They know how many sales were made with the GWP for Barad Dur and how sales slow when it's no longer available. Am a little surprised that they didn't just back order them for VIPs through the weekend, although there could be some left for the non-VIPs(like 5 in the world?) for the 4th, but I doubt it. My local store was out in less than 90 minutes(I called), however that's a lot of space to take up for a single set. Then again, you could be right and they're just dumb
  23. Yet Barad Dur is still in stock. The Fell Beast was the only reason to purchase first day. Kind of a dumb move on Lego not to have the same inventory on both sets for the initial release run.
  24. Fellasbeast seems done, plenty of water parks still available
