I have both UCS Falcons, both UCS Star Destroyers and the UCS AT-AT built and on display, and yet even though the new Death Star is generally bigger than any of them, it just feels....underwhelming? It's big, but it's empty. Its a display piece, but it's boring. Take the dioramas for the Emperor's Throne Room, the Garbage Compactor and Darth Vader's Meditation chamber, stick them in a generic wall frame and slap in a few basic sets (Death Star Cannon, Death Star Escape, Detention Block Escape) and you essentially get the same thing. There is no engineering wow like the AT-AT. No detail and shine like the Falcon. Not even the big cheese wedgeness of the Star Destroyer. It just looks like a circular frame for smaller sets. Maybe if they had done something like the Batcave Shadow Box and had a spherical front that swung open dollhouse style to see the interior. Or something crazy like a spherical front that hinged open in both directions to have an interior with the sphere halves on each side. Something that shows pushing design to the limits (like the AT-AT) to make it look impressive inside and out. Something to justify the hype and the price... But they didn't. It's just lame, lazy, boring and overpriced, which describes too much of Lego SW these days. I'm happily looking forward to buying the Venator over this. And fortunately, just like the Venator, they gave us the laziest, most underwhelming GWP possible for such an expensive set, ensuring there is no FOMO to drive an early sale. Harry Potter sets get more figures and better GWPs every single time they drop a big set. I don't know why Lego is so clueless in comparison....

40% feels like a good buy-in for personal or investment. Plenty of dark azure & dark purple elements, and everything is nice to look at. The tractor and car of 60305 are decent but something about the trailer on its own seems off. It functions well enough and could be loaded up with three similarly sized cars. However, the bottom 'shelf' should have included the same 1x2 grill wedges built-in to hold that car in place same as the top half does. Otherwise, the car just slides around. I suppose the takeaway for 60305 is "decent but could be better". Whereas looking at the overall picture of what 60408 offers appears to have fixed everything the former did not accomplish in my eyes. Some really nice color usage & sweet rides.

Great review, summed up perfectly

Brutality!

This review shows the precise placement roughly in the spot mentioned beginning around the 10:27 mark.

$35 list price on LEGO Shop-at-Home for this runt of the litter. A nigh beefier MicroFighter esque build. No junk in this trunk. An Instagram post (@maxbautde) showing the stormtrooper hot tub section. Possibly hidden in the top left of the build tucked behind the elevator shaft. Other than the under-budget yet overpriced Tie Fighter, my chief critiques would be the sticker sheet and lack of leg printing for majority of the minifigures let alone no dual molded legs seemingly reserved for the singular Hot Tub Stormtrooper.

Here is the annual rumor, confirmed, non set specific thread we all hold dear to our hearts... with my initial thoughts, even if you don't care, you are still reading them, aren't you! 2026 sets rumored as of Sept 2025 75421 Vader's TIE Advanced $69.99 (it better be in scale to the recent interceptor, bomber and fit in a trench along the new $1000 death star (lol, I joke) 75423 Luke's X-wing Fighter $99.99 (wait did we just get a small version last year and a really nice version in well, 2018, and it was $64??) 75436 6+ Mando & Grogu speeder bike (movie set based or season 1,2,or 3) $9.99 so regardless of the version, its cheaper then the minifighter set for both figs. 75437 Cob Vanth & Cad Bane duel playset $29.99 (probably a lame playset but Cob will be the price point) 75438 Yoda bust $49.99 (not a fan of helmets and busts) 75439 Darth Vader bust $59.99 (still not a bane but it's Vader, so maybe?) 75440 Midi Scale AT-AT $59.99 (what will be the hidden egg? Luke? a bunch of snowtroopers inside it?) 75441 Midi scale Venator $79.99 (didnt we get this recently? oh no, that was the Acclamator, totally different similar looking ship) 75443 Buildable Grogu $19.99 (at that price its probably not going to look well) 75448 Clone Shock Trooper Mech $14.99 (probably worth it just for the minifigure) 75449 332nd Battle pack - Ahsoka's clones and mando super commandos $19.99 (so its four figure battle packs again) 75452 Buildable BB8 $89.99 (the price keeps going up and I keep skipping them) 30727 something something in a polybag for $4.99

Advent set 75418, 2025, such a disappointment. I applaud the lego team for trying something different but this one just missed the mark. Where to start. 1x day of a tiny droid with no articulation or assembly required. 1x day of a tiny droid manufacturer with no articulation or assembly required. 1x day of a crate with three droid parts that do not build a full droid. 1x day for a dentist-like chair. 4x days of modular colorful workshop benches, stoves, garbage cans. On the plus we get a small Christmas sweater Jawa, a snowman like BB8 and a few holiday colored droid builds. Also the standard B1 and B2 battle droids (no blaster for the B1 though).

That set was hot garbage even not comparing it to this set which is exponentially better.

My biggest concern is 60305 hasn't done very well.

looks like OOS. only 3P

I don't invest in a lot of City sets but, at $65, I like this one a lot. Retires this year. Limit 4 but you can double order. May be WM+ only, I don't know. https://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-City-Big-Vehicles-Car-Transporter-Truck-with-Sports-Cars-60408/5205846479

HUUUUUUGE miss on the GWP. Could have done something really epic. As for the back of the set, meh...its rough looking, but given that 99% of people will be slapping this next to a wall, it can be somewhat forgiven. For me, the nail in the coffin is the price. $800, (maybe $850 with a crazy special over-the-top GWP) would be acceptable.

Pretty sure it’s legit.
-
i hear ya but these MOC ppl are wizards let see
-
You’d still be missing the necessary structure and plating for the sphere section. You’d essentially have a Death Star sandwich.
-
I don’t think this is right… the hot tub stormtrooper is supposed to be on the back side right ? Is this moc?
-
I don't dislike it, but can't see buying it. It's a unique/interesting concept, but not for $1000. There are so many other sets that give the "wow factor" for much less money. This is just like you bought an overpriced lego built display case for all your individually bought dioramas. Unfortunately, the wow factor is more from the price tag or piece count than the final display piece.
-
I'm sure there will be a MOC on rebrickable for a complete sphere. Just buy 4x sets. You can sell off the duplicate figs and have a small Stormtrooper Army 😀
-
The more I listen to the Designer defend his decisions the more I hate this set. He wanted to save space but you can’t hang the set on the wall. Wait until we see the sticker sheets. The back is horrendous so where do you display it.
