He's here! The package from ToysRUs came today and I have to say that I am very impressed. I was not expecting WALL-E to arrive so soon after placing my order and I had doubts whether the set was really in stock.

The box is a lot bigger than I thought it would be and very heavy. The box art is awesome!

Saw it in store today and wanted to buy it but the cashier said that it is not to be sold until 9/1

I got three and already sold one. I'm hiking my price on my remaining 2.  This could get interesting...

It's bizarre that places put it on the shelf, but won't sell it. Just keep it in back for heavens sake. That's really annoying.

2 on shelf, didn't purchase either.

Hopefully it's an additional neck piece to stabilize the head for positioning.   That would be GREAT.  It's the one issue that's cropped up on all the reviews.

We get it, reselling not your thing.  There's ways to streamline that too; but we get the point -- not worth your time to earn something that's right in front of you that takes a little work like typing all that out.

It's actually not like that at all.  I'm getting in this to resell.  To tell you the truth, I've not done enough research to know if I should grab them or not.  At $60 a pop, I didn't wanna take the chance and have to drive back to it to return them or just break even.  Normally, I'd have just whipped my phone out and checked, but I had my 2 yo with me and didn't wanna mess with it.  I just happened to have been in the area of this store as it's not the closest store to me and thought I'd stop in.  I'm glad I did.  I found about 9 different retired sets they had in stock.  It's like the black hole for Legos.  They had just about everything in stock multiples deep.  I'm definitely going to have to start driving out to it when they're clearancing (word?) stuff out.

The thing with Wall-E is that the movie is already seven years old.  Sure there is pent-up demand from the Lego community but probably not as much as you think in the general public.  Ghostbusters and BttF have stronger cross-over appeal.  I predict strong sales initially (due to resellers gobbling up stock) but slow post-Christmas.

I could see someone wanting to make 20 bucks off of :30 of their  time.  There was a time where I was only making 4./hr 25 years ago.  I make a little more than that now.

Wait...what? Who still drives to the bank these days, other than little old ladies who need to deposit their bingo winnings? I do all of my banking on my phone. Strange...

Near miss on 4 of these today, TRU tried hard to take my money but the system just wouldn't let them sell, lol.

Interestingly, these 4 were from 2 different runs several weeks apart.

No sign of any Wall-Es at my TRU. Some people just follow the rules too closely.

32R5 here

Somebody already made it move.

Whoa. Awesome.

There was a sign for it at my TRU but the shelf was empty, next to a pile of Big Bang Theory.

I'm on mobile so I can't easily move these posts that have ZERO to do with WALL-E so ill do it later unless one of the other mods can but please cut out the confrontational posts (you know who you are) and keep on topic.

32R5 here as well. I noticed the printed pieces on my set have scuffs and scratches. Anyone else see something like this?

I think it means you struck quick flip gold.

If it turns out there was a quality issue, I wouldn't want to pay a premium for a 'faulty' set. I think I'd just wait and pay retail once they fixed the issue.

Depending on what the issue is, they might be worth more! Also, there are some impatient fok out there who just want to have it and are maybe not aware or care about any issue.

Posted over on BrickFan that there are reports that the release date is being delayed:

There are reports over on Reddit that the upcoming LEGO Ideas WALL·E (21303) set has been delayed for a few weeks due to a “quality issue.” I’ve also gotten a message from a reader who also works at a LEGO Brand Store and they have said the same thing. From my message, they also said that “something was not up to LEGO quality they they missed.” I’m not sure what this quality issue is about but I’m wondering if it is part of the top neck joint area that makes the head unstable and won’t stay in place as I stated in my review. I’ll try to get some more clarification and how long the delay will be. The set was scheduled to be released on September 1st.
