21021 - Marina Bay Sands and 21057 - Singapore Architecture sets.

Why would LEGO choose to manufacture and sell sets for this building?  Are such things part of a marketing deal?  I'm guessing all or most of the buildings in the architecture series are in the public domain, i.e. LEGO does not need to pay a fee for the rights to recreate or do some sort of profit sharing deal or some such thing that might go along with a STAR WARS set.  Did LEGO pay Marina Bay Sands to do this or did or did the casino/hotel owner pay LEGO?

I ask these questions because for most of the world this building is unknown.  Let me admit I am an architect and I think the buildings the casino industry buildings are horrible.  I don't want this one, but as a fun, futuristic set for a buildings it's kind of fun (like for kids....I still think its crap.)

This LEGO set is a much better object than the actual building.

Pretty big difference in box size.

  • As an avenue to draw more AFOL's into the Lego theme, it's a winner. And that helps all of us; investors and fans of Lego alike.    With the scope of options available from an architectura

good chance the printed plate is fake considering the manual isn't part of the auction. the plate is even very  hard to get it through customer service as a replacement part due to the set being

I noticed the box for the new Marina Bay Sands set has a "Limited Edition" tag on it and I've read on some EBay listings that it was a limited release in Asia.

Can anyone clear this up for me?  I'd like to buy it but would rather buy it at a normal price if it's going to be released in the US.  If it's a limited release I might consider coughing up the dough on EBay/BrickLink.

I've never used BrickLink though...

So I can't buy it in the US through normal channels like a LEGO store or Amazon?  An "EBay special" as I call them?

I would just thought let it go.....I think it's super silly to spend that kind of money on such a small set, that's me though.

Don't underestimate completionists. People pay more for stamps.

Bricklink it and make a reproduction nameplate.

I could...But then I wouldn't have the box, or the manual...Or the complete Architecture series! :P

Yeah, I'm one of those "completionists" your mother warns you about.

I'm sorry.....that's gotta be rough in the Lego world.

Looks to be limited. I mentioned this set about a week or two ago. I just recently paid $200 and now they are close to $300. They are only available in the actual hotel'a gift shop and in parts of Asia(Singapore and Sourh Korea).

That's why I took a blood oath to only complete the Architecture series.  As much as I'd like to start another one I just CAN'T.  I know I wouldn't survive it.

The worst part is the next theme I wanted to complete was the CUUSOO series.  Could you imagine having to buy the "Shinkai" submersible?  There IS one on EBay right now...

There are a few on bricklink just under $200. If you really want it act fast, its only going to be more.

I'm tempted to buy a few on bricklink and toss them on ebay.

Check the shipping. Most are overseas and are charging $40 to ship.

There are 5 on ebay right now......it has jumped quite a bit in the last 1.5 years since Cuusoo fever hit.

Here is the article Huw from Brickset wrote on the set...It is available only to LEGO S@H customers in Korea(I guess South Korea).

Hope it's not North Korea lol.......I knew better that to question your Lego knowledge my bad :) did yours come with that cool outer box?

Also as a side note, if anyone wanted to Bricklink the set, you can buy the name plate. There are 2 listed on Bricklink at the moment for $17ish. Tempted to buy them myself, there are those rare parts in existence worth a pretty penny. Maybe these will end up 1 of them.
