I started trying to make one at minifigure scale, which I think involved 3x3 cubes (8 plates high) to try and make the ore blocks look authentic. I am with you - the game doesn't appeal to me but holding that set in your makes me feel like its expensive as heck. This is one thing that makes me think it wont be a good investment.
