71012 - Minifigures - Disney: Series 1

Having called my local Lego store in the UK at lunch to confirm that the VIP release of Cindas castle (which is the 17th) I also asked if they had any of the Disney Minifigs back in stock and her exact words were "I'm afraid they have now been discontinued, they may be releasing a new series but the current one has now been discontinued and therefore we will not be getting any new stock" !! Take that as you wish, I'm merely reporting back what she told me guys but kinda makes sense as these disappeared from SAH UK a few weeks back !

Apologies for the repeat re-posts, I just figured some users have notifications for various threads.

hi guys...

would anyone seen the catalog lego 2016 ??
in France the series would return in September or not ?

This was just an ad that states that series 16 would be out in September but then Lego pushed series 16 out earlier and claims Disney will be back in the fall, whether or not that happens is up for debate. There's a theory that series 16 will have a shorter run if Disney gets the minifigure slot instead of what normally would've been series 16 slot.

with this logic, everything that goes "temporarily out of stock" on Lego LEGO Shop at Home must always go back in stock?

My thinking is everything that says "...please check back in the..."

It seems that 99% of the time, what does go temporarily out of stock does come back.  Sometimes it might only come back for a short blip. Pet Shop is a recent example, as that set was knocked out around the april 2xVIP, came back in late July, and was knocked out again.  Other times, like last year I can remember Tower of Orthanc, Red5, Simpsons House and Death Star having that message and they all came back.

The only time I think that the message didn't pull through was with Raptor Escape, but it was retired in Europe about 6 months before it retired in the states, so the signs were obvious on that one.  So far, I dont think the Disney line retired on any site in europe, or elsewhere, so it's coming back.

We've been here guys and it didn't happen with Raptor Escape when that said 'check back' so personally I take everything I read and hear with a pinch of salt until I see that magical 'Retired' word appear!!

I'm merely passing on what I was told, as I said earlier, read in to it what you will.  I've always questioned what factual knowledge the store employees have anyway, they may just have been told its been discontinued because they aren't getting any replacement stock at present, until one day Lego ship over a new boat load to their store and he next day its business as usual.

Who knows, its all just speculation I guess. I've got a personal set framed on my wall and a few sets tucked away just in case they do go, so for now I'll just sit back, watch and enjoy show!!

I can't believe anyone doesn't think with a high level of confidence that these will be back in force. The irregular release of series 16 is all I needed to confirm the reports of a restock. There is no way LEGO will not capitalize on the release of the castle with an abundance of these again. This is not raptor escape.

Does it mean they won't be scarce?

Personally, I think we may see these figures every where on into Christmas and beyond. Of course I could be wrong, but this whole series and the unexpected release of series 16 points to a potential massive restock of the Disney figures. I have a couple extra sets and dupes of quite a few of the characters, but I'm fully expecting to see a ton of these. Time will tell.

Haha, don't forget that Disney castle is not a mere $45 play set that kids and their parents can stock full with Disney minifigs. It's a collectors $450 set that I'm sure will be hard for the average Timmy family to buy. And then go buy the $4 figs to put inside it.

350.00 set!  If you buy all the minifigures to put in it, then you're over 450 when one factors in tax, and I doubt these go at a discount anytime soon.

Anybody notice any restocks in their local shops now disney castle has been released?

My local shops and lego store still sold out

Local TRU has 5 minifigs left. Large Tesco nearby have none left and I just got the last 4 from my local tesco. Smyths may be looked at tomorrow. Think it might be worthwhile throwing them up on ebay this week. Should make a few bucks while they´re OOS

smyths saying no longer available online, and they were restocking for a few weeks in my local store when all other stores, tesco tru were oos.

I visited 2 smyths 60 miles from home and picked up what they had left last week.

From the way smyths had kept restocking tumbler, I would think once there out everywhere will be.

2 off my local independant lego stockists only managed to get  1 or 2 boxes in total as they thought they would be able to order more but couldn't,  they also said the lego rep stated that they are not doing any more.Lego shop staff said the same thing last week If this is true or not, only time will tell.
