Building LEGO

Talk about the builds you have done. Were they fun, difficult, do you recommend it? Please share!!!

Newish to lego, might finally have enough bulk lego to try and build something other than the random houses the kids try to make. Question is: are there some basic modulars that can be built without too many headaches? I looked up instructions to the bike shop/cafe and I am limping together a pink one, is there a good starter building that I can sub pieces with?

  2. Here is a builders question for anyone who has put together any of the modular houses. We have a topic for Which is your favorite modular? with its own poll while here I would like to gauge what people have found to be the most challenging or easiest of all the modular houses when being built as well as what you would recommend to someone else as an enjoyable build experience. Note: It is not mandatory for the poll or even this thread to have built each modular house set in question. I do not expect anyone or everyone to have done so as it is rather unrealistic. Just share the experience for the ones you have and give your honest opinion on those.

So my bricklink store has been relatively inactive (and I haven't really been building much either) because I have been busy moving my family and building a new shed to store my MOCs and investments. My shed is finally done.... my own personal building and storing LEGO shed. I am including some pics here but interested parties should visit my mocpages for more information and about our move. I have documented the procedures used for a very successful move of merchandise and my personal MOCs. http://mocpages.com/moc.php/416912 Moving LEGO investments and MOCs is a headache, and I have done it more than once. But I have learned valuable information in the process. If an…

I just finished my version of the Grand Emporium. I had to use 3 1/2 GE's for this building. My inspiration was a picture from the web: Especially the windows in the middle are very nice. But i wanted a larger MOC with 2 original GEs on the left and the right. (corner buildings on the left and the right, a straight building in the middle) The GE on the right is 100% a GE, the one on the left is almost original. I only had to change the roof, because i wanted to have the large windows next to the straight MOC windows. The straight MOC was build with parts from 2 GEs, especially the tan parts. I still have to build the interior of the straight MOC (m…

I recently started the creation of a city made of lego. I'm working in the layout creation, lights. Future plans are a second level for both train rails and buildings. I added what I have so far.

As some of you know, I'm attending college as a Film Production major concentrating in Production Design (set design). I have never attempted to build a large scale MOC before, but I am extremely interested in creating a MASSIVE Hollywood Studio Backlot MOC. The scene would be made up of various buildings, lots, and vehicles. I feel that creating this MOC will allow me to directly incorporate a lot of the awesome licensed sets threw depicting the "filming" of the movies. And because I am a Production Design major, I am very particular about the look and feel of things I create, so it is going to be authentic and over the top. I was wondering if any of you could poi…

  10. I guess it's because the Gallery is kind of that button that's hiding in plain sight, but I believe not many people have seen my MOCs I've put there yet (or any of the other uploads there by others). So, for those who only pay attention to the forum posts, here's a link...to the Gallery! LFoW's MFZ MOCs. This is a small collection of my mini-mech models I build for a LEGO tabletop game by the name of Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack, where you build the mechs you use as gamepieces, the terrain, and the guns all out of LEGO (or similar brands). I'll be doing a large in-depth blog or forum post on it soon, so look for that in the future! …

Hey all, I just finished my first Modular MOC and thought it would be fun to share with everyone. I was trying to figure out what sets Lego would never make, and settled on a Dispensary...with an upstairs grow-op. My Minifigs are LOVING it ;D

So today, July 25th, is my mom's birthday. She knew I was going to get her something LEGO related and had originally wanted the Cinema Palace since I'm in college for Film. However, she hasn't built a LEGO set since I was about 4 or 5 years old. I thought a 2000 some piece count would be slightly too advanced for her right now, but I still wanted to get her a larger set. So, since today is Christmas in July I decided to play up that aspect hardcore. First I wrapped the set: Then I gave it to her: Her reaction was great, haha: I think she is going to have a blast building this set. I would normally build a set th…

  14. When I first got back into LEGO, I promised myself I'd stick to the Architecture series (the theme that got me back into LEGO) and a smattering of whatever I found interesting in Creator Expert and Lego CUUSOO/Ideas themes. But...I've run out of stuff to build! I'm thinking I need to "up it a notch" and start building UCS/Modulars to get my fix. I need projects that don't take one afternoon or even a whole day to build. I need a build that requires me to go to sleep before I awake to *possibly* finish it that day...Or the next. So far I have the following: 1. The whole Architecture series minus Trevi Fountain that my parents have "hinted" not so subt…

  15. Does anyone have any good advice on how to remove a helmet from a minifig head? My son shoved on a Kre-o Transformer helmet onto a Lego minifig head, and the fit is so tight I can't get it off no matter how hard I try. Does anyone have any tips/tricks on the best non-destructive way to remove it? I guess worst case scenario I can try to tear the Transformer helmet apart... But that's a last resort. Thanks!

  16. Please don't hate me, I am new to collecting and I think I scored a huge find. I purchased a large lot from someone local which included a millineum falcon 10179 used in the box. No manual but original box , with the box being in a 5 out of 10 condition. When I opened it up there are the majority of the pieces and the mini figs . Many of the pieces still in original bags, some in ziplock and some loose. It looks like someone started on it and gave up. I now know this is a once in a lifetime find and am so blessed to discover it.. Here is my question Because I am new, I don't know if it is better to: 1. Build it , opening the bags to see how complete it is? 2. Leave…

  17. Hi, SO I stumbled upon the site "Light my Bricks". Pretty cool site and I was drawn to how they sell specific kits for specific sets, but I also naturally assumed they are up-charging quite a bit. I wanted to ask someone's opinion who has a lot of experience buying LED lights and mounting them in their displays. For example, they sell a lighting kit for a UCS Tie (Here). It looks like the kit comes with: 1 x Flat Battery Pack 5 x Bit Lights (White) 1 x Multi-Effects Board 2 x 6-Port Expansion Board 1 x Connecting Cable 5 cm 2 x CR2032 Batteries 3 x Assorted LEGO® pieces for assembly Lets say for argument sake I take advantage of their free…

I decided a little while back to bricklink my first retired set (3723). I chose this set as it's mostly made up of common bricks, but a lot of them, so I felt it would be pretty simple to do. I was checking out brickshelf and found a modified version of 3723 with improved legs that look just like a minifigure. I didn't realize until I found this this MOC that the 3723 legs are pretty lacking in design. I've tried to locate instructions on how to make these legs and have come up empty. Any ideas or help with where I can find instructions for these legs? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=339985

  19. Hi. I got into Lego at age 65 because of my grandson who lives and breathes this stuff. At first I thought he was nuts, but some of these sets are so beautifully designed that they are a pleasure to watch him build. He is 6 years old, and is very much into Ninjago and Star Wars. He has built all of the large Ninjago sets, the dragons and the Fire Temple, and he is into the ships from Star Wars. Anyway, we just built the Venator, and the "problem" with the build is that there are no "legs" or stand for the ship to rest on. The ship rests on nothing...it just sits there. We are trying to figure out a type of stand that might be built for it...nothing elaborate...something …

Hey guys, new to the forum and need some help with a build. I don't know if I posted in the correct place. I love Legos and I love Datsun Z's (240z/260z/280z's) and I stumbled across these pics on the internet. This MOC is pretty awesome and looks exactly like my 240z, so of course I want to build one, to go with my car. I tried building one myself but I'm def not experienced enough. I used parts from these sets which seem to have about 90% of the parts in the build. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GSPF9QG http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NHQGKBM Anyone able to help me out here? I can send you my sets for the build. This should be pret…

Trying to contribute more, this is the latest MOC I've completed. It's been around a few months and I'm trying to figure out how to get better pictures while having no lighting equipment. It's a Neo Futuron spaceship named "Deep Space Sentinel." I had the trans-blue dome panels from old sets and I've always wanted to make a spaceship cockpit with them. It got a little bigger than I'd originally planned. The hardest part was getting a stand built. It meant I had to keep it mostly un-assembled while I figured out a decent stand. I want to do the same thing with the other 80's-90's space themes; make giant spaceships.

Perhaps I should have begun this a while ago, I have posted several MOCs on this site. But instead of posting each new MOC, I am beginning one that will show all from here on into the future. I wont repost one in the past, if interested go ahead and check them out here: http://www.moc-pages.com/home.php/100020 I am not an immensely popular builder. But I do have fun and i use a variety of different builds, build in many genres, using many techniques, and probably have some of the more diverse-types of builds out there. Mostly a technic builder, but sometimes i dabble in mechs, space, and Star Wars Genres. This is my latest build; as we get ready fo…
