I'm about to finally start planning/organizing for my Hollywood Studio Backlot. I have a list if a bunch of parts that I need to order from bricklink. My question to all of you: do you purchase new or used pieces when working on a MOC. I would love to save some money, but I dont want the pieces I use to look beat up (the pieces from my childhood are not even beat up). Do you guys rely on one condition brick, or do you purchase both new and used?

Here is a builders question for anyone who has put together any of the modular houses. We have a topic for Which is your favorite modular? with its own poll while here I would like to gauge what people have found to be the most challenging or easiest of all the modular houses when being built as well as what you would recommend to someone else as an enjoyable build experience. Note: It is not mandatory for the poll or even this thread to have built each modular house set in question. I do not expect anyone or everyone to have done so as it is rather unrealistic. Just share the experience for the ones you have and give your honest opinion on those.

Trying to contribute more, this is the latest MOC I've completed. It's been around a few months and I'm trying to figure out how to get better pictures while having no lighting equipment. It's a Neo Futuron spaceship named "Deep Space Sentinel." I had the trans-blue dome panels from old sets and I've always wanted to make a spaceship cockpit with them. It got a little bigger than I'd originally planned. The hardest part was getting a stand built. It meant I had to keep it mostly un-assembled while I figured out a decent stand. I want to do the same thing with the other 80's-90's space themes; make giant spaceships.

Hi, I am interested in building a modular display with my Lego sets. I have recently purchased the Cinema Display and Parisian Restaurant. I will also add a few more soon including Detectives Office, Brick Bank, and possible MOCs. I would love to have a crane in my city as I build the difference sets. I have looked at the Lego Technic Crawler Crane 42042, and it looks amazing, but I am worried about the scale. Does anyone have experience with the size of this crane as it sits next to modulars or can anyone offer advice on another crane option that is available or hasn't shot up too far in price after retirement? Thank you! I read these forums daily and love to lear…

I looked at buying the Lego Mixer set but the cost was pretty prohibitive so I decided to build my own. I hope you like it and any feedback is appreciated. It's taken me almost five months and was pretty difficult as I'm new to Lego and there was a lot of trial and error before I managed to get it right. The ride breaks down, just like the real thing and fits onto the truck bed and into the other truck in the images. I have a youtube video which shows it working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrgOIbpqKl0

Although still under some construction, Brick City Depot has given their website a fresh coat of paint updating the overall appearance and function of the store. Currently running (for an unknown timeframe) when you sign up for an account will give you access to a set of instructions for building a new Adventure Truck design for free! Moving along, Brick City Depot shall be attending the BrickFair Fan Festival in Virginia this coming August 2-3 where you will be able to check out some of the models from their future print of The LEGO Neighborhood Book. In the image below you can see a small silhouette of the next modular house design to be released. Judging from t…

Hey, thinking about busting open a box today and building something. Which should I build and why? I have GE, PS, HH, PC, and the apparently unflippable Slave I. I have three GE and one is opened to verify contents because the seals looked funky I have three PS and one is damaged box thanks to our good friends at Wal-Mart. I have only one PC I have only one HH and have a feeling I better let that one be. I have one Slave I Which to build??

Hi guys, I have just finished another Star Wars MOC. This time I wanted to mess around with the idea of forced perspective and decided to recreate one of my favourite shots from Return of the Jedi. As with all my micro mocs I wanted to stick to the 16x16 base, which in this instance was quite a challenge but eventually I managed to find a way to fit everything I wanted into the scene. The colour palette choice for Jabba's Palace was partly based on the official lego sets of "Jabba's Palace' and 'Rancor Pit' especially the dark grey base for the Palace to sit atop but I decided to go with darker colours for the Palace itself similar to the…

Hop onboard this crafty little Trolley Bus low on piece count but high on charm. Build a few busses for your town with a color for each zone or customize your own design by adding train pieces for an authentic trolley in your train layout.

I decided to start taking down some sets I have built and displayed. I already had several pieces break just by separating the bricks. I have been using the brick separator too. This is very frustrating considering how much we pay for these fricking sets. Now I have to put in an order for bricklink where the shipping and handling will cost 10x what bricks I need replaced. I think I am going to end up just leaving some of the bigger sets intact.

Hi guys, I have just finished another micro landscape in time for the Battlefront Death Star DLC. I wanted to do something different from some of the other trench run mocs I have seen and so I chose the moment Han comes to Luke's rescue and shoots down one of the tie fighters. I really like the drama in this scene and Im really happy with the way it has turned out. The inspiration for Luke's Xwing and Vader's tie came from a post by 'BEAVeR' (http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=84301) however I really wanted to get R2 in this scene and so instead of a 1x2 white tile for the nose I went for a 1x1 and added a 1x1 blue stud to represent R2 behind the cockpit. Thanks…

I guess it's because the Gallery is kind of that button that's hiding in plain sight, but I believe not many people have seen my MOCs I've put there yet (or any of the other uploads there by others). So, for those who only pay attention to the forum posts, here's a link...to the Gallery! LFoW's MFZ MOCs. This is a small collection of my mini-mech models I build for a LEGO tabletop game by the name of Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack, where you build the mechs you use as gamepieces, the terrain, and the guns all out of LEGO (or similar brands). I'll be doing a large in-depth blog or forum post on it soon, so look for that in the future! …

Ever since I saw the movies I loved Star Wars. Being one of the most impressive vehicles on screen of course the AT-AT was something I wished for when I was younger, stay playing with LEGOs not thinking about investing ;-) There have been quite some AT-ATs and they all have something going for them, though since it's my first one I prefer the newest edition. Anyhow, I always would have loved to see a HUUUGE UCS model of this one. But as you all might be aware of there is nothing like it available. So some of you might already know those MOC AT-AT, but if you have not seen them before you might love them just as much as I do. (if you didn't know: MOC =…

I just watched the Lego designer video of the "Maersk Triple-E" and it must have 50 stickers for all the cargo boxes and I've watched some reviews on Youtube and they don't look all that great... I was curious if anyone has used standard plastic model-making techniques on Lego's; namely sticker'd parts? From my experience making Gundam models, there are things you can do to sticker/decal'd parts that will blur the lines between the sticker and the pieces, giving it a more "printed" look that most of us prefer. Or is this treading into dangerous territory; I've only heard of using these methods on DECALS and not necessarily stickers... Thanks! …

I felt like it was time to step up my game and start modeling more popular, more difficult Hypercars. I was able to create a suspension strong enough not to need torsion bar, for all you purists out there The Chiron is one hypercar most builders do not attempt, therefore I felt it was time to step up and see what happens! Flickr Album: https://flic.kr/s/aHskZHoj1H The Lego car blog: https://thelegocarblog.com/2017/05/15/money-monday/ The Chiron has curves & shapes difficult to replicate. This build began with the simplistic, strong and extremely reliable Framework. This vehicle has a custom W16 motor (designed…
