Building LEGO

Talk about the builds you have done. Were they fun, difficult, do you recommend it? Please share!!!

I just shot and edited this yesterday. Launched about an hour ago. I'm looking for any feedback. I was tired of viewing a person ramble for 5 -7 minutes on a set that I just want to see being built with close-ups of details. Figured I'd just do it myself. Let me know what you think.

So as I recently got back into LEGO, I realized I don't like little sets. Reasons: 1) They're too small to display on their own, and look strange beside a large set unless you have an entire theme all together. And if you don't have a large focal point, it just looks like a bunch of random scenes mixed together. Especially when not on a LEGO baseplate (such as on a table, shelf, or the carpet). In order to get a nice looking scene you may need the entire theme, which may cost thousands of dollars (in the case of Harry Potter). Even if you have them all, some themes can still look kind of bare when laid out together (like The Hobbit). 2) They take up a lot of room. A cou…

  5. Interesting article on the BBC site today about current day sets removing a lot of the imagination from building. Would be good to hear peoples views on this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29992974

  6. I don’t really recall if anyone may have wanted to know how to build the San Diego Comic-Con The Ghost Starship exclusive mini-build but here goes anyway. Big credit goes to BrickTsar on YouTube for making a full video review with real good zoomed in shots of the parts list and a time lapse build slower than the previous Batmobile one. There was a few neat techniques and just a couple limited pieces which are the ice cream cone in black and the printed dome piece but everything else should be relatively BrickLinkable. I had to omit the astromech Chopper due to his torso and legs not being available in LDD. Be sure to click on each image if you need it enlarged same as b…

I downloaded LDD and I am trying to design my first MOC. I am just curious what scale you use. I would like the scale to match with mini figures and to seem realistic. What scale do you use? For example, how many studs = 1 foot long? How many rows of bricks = 1 foot high? Thanks in advance!

New house has a pretty substantial office space that is dedicated to my built displays, etc. But what I don't have currently is a table to actually build on... Anyone have any pictures of what they use or any cool ideas?

I been reading about custom modular building, the link below sell instruction guide and his creation is really good. Before buying his instructions, will it be easy for me to gather the required bricks? Will it cost too much? http://www.brickcitydepot.com/city-building-instructions.html

Ever wanted to know what makes LEGO so 'addictive'? Then check out this nice little art piece created by Cole Blaq on flickr. Special Ingredient - Cole Blaq on flickr I don't know, I just find this to be a nice little work of art. It's interesting, catches my eye, and pleasant to look at.

Perhaps I should have begun this a while ago, I have posted several MOCs on this site. But instead of posting each new MOC, I am beginning one that will show all from here on into the future. I wont repost one in the past, if interested go ahead and check them out here: http://www.moc-pages.com/home.php/100020 I am not an immensely popular builder. But I do have fun and i use a variety of different builds, build in many genres, using many techniques, and probably have some of the more diverse-types of builds out there. Mostly a technic builder, but sometimes i dabble in mechs, space, and Star Wars Genres. This is my latest build; as we get ready fo…

I was actually going to post a question about what the difference was in certain shades of blue (like Maersk blue compared to medium azure) but instead I found this image comparing most of the blues to blue-greens Lego has used over the years. I find it interestingly helpful and thought you may too. >Lego Blues by cjedwards47, on Flickr (from left to right) Sand blue Dark turquoise Light aqua Bright light blue Medium blue Maersk blue Medium azure Dark azure Blue Dark blue And the tiles are Sky blue, which appears to be the closest match to Medium azure.

Thought I'd play "guess what I'm building" with you fine folks. This set was mostly in an overflowing BTTF box which was inside a big plastic bin. Can you guess which set this is? (See pic) Good luck!

  18. Hello, i was searching for about 100 of these pieces (3633) in dark bluish gray, but prices are really too high! I cannot manage to find one at less than 2 eur each in europe. Now checking recent sales on bricklink it seems that there were bought a lot in past months for like 0,20 cent each but now there is like a general sold out. So i was wondering why this happened and if you know where else i can buy that parts from. Thank you in advance

  21. I was starting to sort my latest bulk lot today and while looking for an empty box I knocked over a large and growing stack of random instruction books that I've accumulated over the last four months or so. It got me wondering what others who sort any significant amount of bulk do with these. Do you sell them? I can't see much of a market for most of these. Some I file away in case some other bulk lot has the set but no instructions, but most just wind up in an ever growing pile.

As some of you know, I'm attending college as a Film Production major concentrating in Production Design (set design). I have never attempted to build a large scale MOC before, but I am extremely interested in creating a MASSIVE Hollywood Studio Backlot MOC. The scene would be made up of various buildings, lots, and vehicles. I feel that creating this MOC will allow me to directly incorporate a lot of the awesome licensed sets threw depicting the "filming" of the movies. And because I am a Production Design major, I am very particular about the look and feel of things I create, so it is going to be authentic and over the top. I was wondering if any of you could poi…

  25. Hey Folks! So as you all know Dimensions came out with the Portal 2 level pack. I have long been a huge Portal fan and love the games. The writing/humour/gameplay is beyond anything else I've played. There was an Ideas project that ended up not making it into a final product: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/18258 which i was really rooting for. So when the Dimensions set came out i decided i would try to replicate this design so i could properly display the awesome Chell minifig. I also intend to make a GlaDOS that will hang in the top of a detolf (tops of detolfs have a hole) without all the support brackets used in the Ideas design. Below is the progress I've made so …
