LEGO IDEAS / CUUSOO

Discussion for collecting and investing with LEGO IDEAS / CUUSOO themed sets.

I want this set soooo bad! I just voted and now it's at 800 supporters!

Has anybody seen CUUSOO tonight? I know realize that a large portion of it's users are made up of little kids. Anyway BrickQueen got banned and she blamed it on the user who made the other Jurassic Park concept set. Now people are flaming the hell out of everybody else. I've got me some popcorn and a front row seat to children breaking down emotionally... does that make me a bad person? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h9HIsFsIEA&feature=c4-overview&list=UU2g84UPgnq7wxFlw5qtrtRw EDIT:

    Started by Guest,

Firstly, I would just like to add my thanks to those of you who have supported me so far - This means a huge amount for the time it's taken me and the effort I've put in. I have been a member of Cuusoo for just over a week and have created two projects which I am very proud of. In this time I have upset the entire Christian fan base regarding my Origin of the minifigure exhibit, annoyed one of the most active Cuusoo reviewers about my tagging and been accused of copying someone elses project. Is it just me, or does it seem that Cuusoo is more of a forum for criticisms rather than looking at the build ingenuity and the talent of designing? Has anyone else found this …

  5. Just saw this on CUUSOO. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/14605#. It got me thinking if anyone has made working Pinball machines... A quick google search finds lots of hits. Pretty sweet. Love this castle one though it's pretty simple. Lots of cool ones on youtube too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rt3B4DBVTE Has anyone seen instructions online for these. Maybe on ebay?

This is one of my favorite models EVER! These are just three slightly modified versions of the same basic model. http://www.flickr.com/photos/coleblaq/6795849859/in/photostream/

  7. The Mini Shop Series CUUSOO Project is nearing its goal of reaching full support and will be up for review eventually. While we're waiting for those results (and just for fun) how about we have a little vote for our favorite of them all? As Darth Lego even mentioned in another thread, there are good advertising possibilities to let Lego create a set for their brand, so anything can be possible in theory. Lego has done promotions with McDonald's in the past before, so there's one.

  10. I know I will probably catch some flak for this from members but I'm ready for it. I find it hard to believe that the only 3 sets we have seen from this is a sub, a satellite and a set based on a ridonkulous game. I think that we should have some way cooler sets coming from this project. In my eyes this is a failure. Feel free to disagree (respectfully). I also think that the sets that have recently made the support mark are pretty lame. I'm sure the there are people out there that think that the exosuit is the coolest creation ever, but I sure don't.

  12. After a little digging into Alex Jones' flickr gallery, I came across this beauty. An Ultimate Collector Series build of the Delorean from Back to the Future Part II! I mean absolutely no disrespect to the Delorean on CUUSOO that passed review because that build is a nice one. It really is, specially for minifigures. But seriously, this model leaves that little one in the dust! And besides, if this was the one on CUUSOO that did pass, it would be a winner on so many levels!! 1.) Back to the Future - It's almost 30 years later from the original film with the anniversary coming up soon, and it's still a cult classic! 2.) Delorean - This build captures the original car so …

Who would vote yes for an Expendables theme. I think it would be the best thing since sliced bread. Just think...... a Chuck Norris minifig!!! That would be so epic. Not to mention Arnold, Stallone, and Bruce Willis!!! You would have to be crazy not to vote yes!!!

  14. I was searching on flickr for something else completely and somehow stumbled across this Japanese knockoff item that looks like the worse LEGO set I've ever seen. I know the actual LEGO design will be nothing remotely this horrible, but this was so bad I just had to share it. Here's the original source.

  15. A commission piece done by Brandon Griffith (icgetaway on flickr). Just check out the images. Your jaw will hit the floor....hard. Back to the Future Mosaic - flickr gallery The Reveal - Toy Break on youtube This is two years old, but still an amazing work of art.

  17. I meant to post about the sudden disappearance of the CUUSOO - "Space Marines" project yesterday, but it slipped my mind. (Blame it on 'the most annoying thing in the world', heh.) Just yesterday, the "Space Marines" project was taken down because of 'another' company (LEGO never actually said but we all know it was Games Workshop) because the name infringed on one of their trademarks. (Space Marines from Warhammer 40,000 no doubt.) However, LEGO did agree to put the project back online if NickRoyer (the creator) agreed to rename it. So "Space Marines" is now "Space Troopers". There is a differance between a Copyright and a Trademark, so atleast Games Workshop is not s…

  18. I saw a news post on Brickset the other day telling how Etadyne Industries has available on their website a set of custom instructions by itself ($15) or a custom kit of the "Serenity" spaceship from the TV series "Firefly" that was submitted to CUUSOO and was then rejected by LEGO ($385, plus $11 for shipping & handling). They also offer a set of minifigures to go with the set ($85, including S&H) Here's the link. CUUSOO - Firefly "Serenity" kit - Etadyne Industries The kit is comprised of 2,186 new pieces, which at $385 is about 18 cents a piece. As far as custom kits go, this is actually a pretty good price considering.

I guess I am a little confused on the whole Idea of CUUSOO. So once it gets 10,000 suporters then what? Does it go to production for retail sale? The reason why I ask is because all the hype about Purdue Pete reaching 10,000 in just a few days. Is it on its way to retail shelves? I for one have no interest in this, and I imagine that few people outside Purdue students or Alumni would either. I am an Arizona State graduate so you can see why this does not interest me in the slightest.

What do Brickpicker members think of the CUUSOO sets and their potential value? They appear to be limited edition sets. The 2100 Shinkai 6500 Submarine and 21101 Hayabusa have appreciated nicely. What do you think of the Minecraft Micro World? I know they have stopped selling them in the US. Do you think LEGO will release more or stick to the 10,000 units?
