Hey everyone, Been on here reading for awhile and thought I would finally post and say hi. I just recently started building sets with my two boys, its nice to have a hobby they enjoy that isn't a video game. I came across this site while looking for a way to help sustain our growing addiction! I have bought a couple exclusives so far but didn't want to get carried away before I did some reading first. I just recently bought a box of simpsons series 1 minifigures for just under $200, I was wondering if that was a good deal and it would be worth buying another box? Thanks all!

some of my hobbies & interests include skratebords, cool cars, wine country, and dumpster seafood. Im also a big fan of Lego which was founded by Old Kirk Crungerson in 1682. Old Kurt discovered the tiny plastic blocks when digging inside of a mountain. No one knows what happened to him after that but at least we can all agree that he was insane. For your health!

Hello all, I've recently been reading the forums here and learning to decipher all the abbreviations in the posts so I thought I'd sign up and say hi. From what I can gather, you're all a friendly lot here, it's nice to see. I've always been a big fan of Lego and have recently taken the plunge into having a play with investing. I figure I've got the right attitude for it, as a kid I'd always stash my toys away to keep them pristine and help my bro destroy his instead. I'm looking forward to the speculating!

I have made posts in the past during Educator Appreciation Week at Barnes and Nobles that educators receive 25% off their purchase. So I am teacher. If anyone lives in the Philadelphia, PA area listens to the morning show Preston and Steve (You can podcast it as well from anywhere in the country/world. They are funny.) you would know they do a contest this time of year called "Coolest Teacher." My school was chosen so I am putting it out there if anyone wants to help a fellow Lego Collector out and cast a vote for me. Just need to text Teacher Mr. Snyder to 39333. Votes need to be in by 6 am EST tomorrow (5/21). Am I cool? I collect and build LEGO, isn't that eno…

Hi, writing from San Francisco here, checking in as a new member. Just rediscovered Legos in my early 40's since stopping to play when I was 8 or 9 years old. It occurs to me that the set that I was given had a lift up flap and different parts segregated in their own molded styrofoam compartments - maybe in 1979 or something like that? Been playing Indiana Jones/Star Wars/LOTR/The Hobbit games on the PS3 and did not realize what a vibrant thriving Lego communities we have. Sydney

Hello all! It's good to finally be in a Lego community. I used to be a Lego collector, builder, and animator. Now, I just look at what people are capable of. Let's get along!

Hey everyone! I've been on here for months reading, but not posting. I got my start investing in LEGO this feb. Since then I've bought some Monster Fighters set, some very old sets and the VW bus all to resell based on my gut and what I've read. Now i'm trying to resell them and try to make my first money! Great forum, great news and great people. Thanks to all!

Hey everyone! I've been on here for a couple of months reading, but not posting. I got my start investing in LEGO when I managed to nab 10225 R2D2 this april for retail price and realized I'd rather make money off of it than build it. Since then I've bought some discounted LEGO Movie sets, Palace Cinema, and the VW bus all to resell based on my gut and what I've read. Anyway, on to my question: I've recently been sorting through my childhood LEGO bricks and piecing together my old sets. I'd like to sell these sets, but I don't think they're overly popular sets. For example I have pieced together the 8652 1:17 scale Enzo Ferrari, 8671 1:17 F430 Spider, 4507 Prehistoric Cre…

Introducing myself here. I grew up playing with them, and managed to hold onto pieces from my childhood until my girl child was old enough to play with them instead of just shoving them in her mouth. I then went on a buying kick for a few years, spending hours playing with them, with my daughter. Now that she's older, I'll probably sell my collection (sadly). I stumbled on brickpicker when I was trying to get an idea of the value of my collection and found the forum to be pretty helpful as well.

I have been reading forums hourly for about 2 months now. Usually just like to read but thought it was time to have first post. I am AFOL that has been just collecting and building with my kids. I recently started Amazon FBA business and it has really taken off. I actually started with it when I saw my Queen Anne Revenge ship was selling for $250 used. I sold that to fund my business and it took off from there. This Post could probably be started in several threads but I recently starting getting into lego investment as now I have some extra income. I must have had a good idea of good sets through the years because my three sets I have displayed are both ships from POTC a…

Hey all, I'm new to BP, not new to LEGO but it's been a while. I'm really glad I found this community, it's really great and some of the members are extremely knowledgeable. I'm 28, a software engineer by trade (now my 9-5). I've got a lot of time on my hands so I write little tools, websites, apps and stuff on the side. I was recently re-introduced by my kid brother (who I originally gave my LEGO) and saw a bunch of great stuff going on in the LEGO world: 1) super nice community 2) LEGO ideas where you can actually make your dreams come alive for others 3) Alternative vehicle for investing (what I'd deem the 30% risky part of a portfolio) 4) Investing in a pass-time tha…

Well my 5 year old son has finally discovered real Lego and is no longer interested in Duplo. I think the bug has affected me more than it has him. Lego was my favorite toy growing up, and right about now I am kicking myself for letting my parents get rid of over 100 pounds of Lego about twenty years ago. The investment thing is tough. With a 5 year old I would probably have to buy one to build of everything I buy to invest. I also have little to no extra space in my home for storage. Today I bought a DS, but I bought it to build. I am so tempted to go to the store and pick up another one as an investment, but I'm uncertain if buying a $400 set that has had plenty of time…

New picker here, having a blast so far. 80's kid with disposable income, LEGO as an investment make sense i guess. Got Ecto-1 as a Xmas gift from my awesome girlfriend and that sparked my interest in LEGO's again, a childhood passion reborn. Looking mostly to hold on to sets long term. See you guys around the forums!
