General Buying & Selling

Overall discussion on the buying and selling of LEGO

  1. Started by kutaone,

Let's assume below is all the info you get...Let's assume it is all true...(Of course I would get to see everything and it's from an acquaintance so I know there is no shady business.) All used but recently cleaned... 50 lbs of mixed lego bricks and parts...star wars...city...Potter etc... 1% mega box and kre-o mixed in. PLUS 20 - 99% (some 100%) complete Star Wars Lego sets with manuals (Sets unknown but let's assume they are on the smaller end.) 60 mini figs.. mostly star wars I would want to keep about 20lbs to give to my nephew but would like to sell the rest... I am not even sure where to start on the offer. I figured by the lb would be the…

I don't see a thread on Exclusive sets and Polybags. I am rather new to Lego collecting. I think Exclusives, being sold in one store only...may be better to collect as they would be harder to find for some people. but, I do not really know what sets are exclusives, or which store has them. I'd like you knowledgeable people to list the set #s and stores available. Thanks for the help.

Hi, I bought a 100% complete Sandcrawler 10144 and its in great shape. I'm going to tear it down and rebuild it for fun. It is dusty. What is the best method to clean a very dusty lego set. Just a rag, blow air, or put in water individual pieces from large to small if plastic only with no stickers? Want to get it super clean but not harm it. Thanks!

  4. I am working on trying to finish up a few sets for my kids for Christmas. I am missing quite a few mini figures. I would like to purchase a larger lot if possible. They do not need to be mint, they will be played with by little ones. PLMK if you have any of these for sale/trade. I don't have tons to trade, but I will trade very well to complete these sets. Agents 8970 - all 6 People *priority* Atlantis *8060 - Sharkman *priority* Lego City *5612 - Person *5613 - Person *5620 - Person *7737 - Person Space Police *5972 - Police Guy (good guy) *priority* Star Wars *6205 - Blue/White Storm Trooper Pilot …

I am looking to either learn something new or confirm my suspicions. I am selling a couple of LEGO boxes (yes, just the box. I know, right?) on eBay. From what I can see, there is no *legitimate* way to get around paying $7 to $10 just to ship the thing. I got an eBay request to reduce the price by "flattening" the box. Unless I am missing something, that doesn't change the weight or classification. Thus, it costs the same (though that logic does seem to be lost on buyers, it seems). Anyone have any different experience or insight shipping just the box? Thanks!

Anyone have advice on this? I'm referring to individual bricks/pieces. I'd be a little scared to just put them in a bubble mailer but it seems like that's really the only way to go. Used the search feature and didn't find anything. Sorry if I am duplicating.

Hi I am still new to Lego investing and the forums , and would like to get some general knowledge on where and how to start. Where does one find 40% or more of a discount on Lego sets in Canada? Does anyone know when do real clearances on Lego sets (Like 40% or more) start showing up in Wal-marts , Targets and Real Canadian super stores? Which months do you think are the best for Lego clearance hunting? June July or August? how often should I check? (do not drive as of yet but working on it) Always end up buying Lego sets ( for investing) at U.S retail prices. I do go to North Dakota once a month but only have acc…

Hi I just have a quick question for anyone willing to reply, from the pictures of the 2016 lego star wars sets we see that 75136 and 75138 are close to lego sets that we've seen before.I have the droid escape from 2012 I believe and the echo base from 2009. Would now be the best time to sell these? as new versions of these sets will be coming out soon. And will the value go down for these older sets?

  10. Howdy, I'm in the process of selling a lot of lego in bulk ( ~7 kilo) and i'm wondering if there are any colors that I should leave out? (Brown, darkgrey, transparant,...?)

I read many of you rant and rave about Lego in these forums. This site surely is a great place for all of us to vent and share knowledge and deals at the same time. I love Lego and my first toy was a Baby Rattle from the 80s. The sets have came a long way from the old 8860 Technic sports car and the 8851 Technic Excavator that you had to cut your own air tube to connect to the air pumps. I'm sure the futures models will be better for years to come. What's bothering me the most recent were the 10% coupon as well as the free promo policy in recent months. These 2 topics have been discussed on other threads in great length. I took some time talking with store man…

I don't collect mini figs but I've noticed many posts here about how hard it is to find the series 9 figures. Today while looking for other sets, I found 24 packages of mini figs. With the sale and some other discounts I get, they came out to $2.50 a piece. my family tried to feel around for the mermaid, which was pretty obvious, but I'm wondering if other members here are looking for any particular pieces or just want blind unsearched (except for a mermaid) bags. Hit me up with a pm We might open a few more just because my daughter would like a few more mini figs for her relatively new lego collection.

So I recently placed two orders with amazon and walmart.com. Both have tracking that says that the packages were delivered but I never received anything. Do I have any recourse? The carrier on both instances was the USPS...just wondering if any other's had a similar experience and what the best way to get results is. Thanks!

I have been selling CMF as a complete set. New and sealed. I am very good at feeling the package and identify them. I have not had an issue selling them as a set before until today. Someone opened a case (after 40 days of the sale) on eBay saying I sent him a duplicate minifig (one of not much value) and missed another one (which currently worth at least $15 by itself). I am going to take it as a loss. But that got me to think maybe I should not sell the minifig as sealed any more for my own protection. Have any of you have issues before? Thanks.

  16. Hi all, I have a few sets that I am considering to sell in the next days, but a couple of them I am considering seriously given my purchase price. I have the 8070 Sports Car for 67

I have an RI up for auction at the moment, Canada and US only. I received a message from someone in Singapore if I would be willing to ship to there. I'm a little hesitant on this, also I'm not sure how to update the shipping so I can go international on an item already in progress. I have never shipped international either. My thought was to reply with either a) an international auction so he can bid or b ) an agreed on BIN price. He said he would like one for his daughters birthday. His feed back is good and his feed back is from all over, US, UK, Spain etc. Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences would be greatly appreciated!

  20. I don't do a ton of bulk/parting out. I have about 15 lbs I have separated by color. Trying to figure out how to price them in color lots - I know bulk in general goes from $6-$8/lb depending on quality/type, but should I be pricing different colors higher? Follow up Q - would you bother separating every color out or no? As an example I have about 2 lbs of brown, but with some tan, light brown, etc, mixed in. I know stuff like sand green can go for higher, just not sure about others. Any thoughts from the bulk sellers out there appreciated!

  21. Hi everyone--Happy Memorial Day! I hope that you don't think this to be a silly question. But since I am looking to start to sell used Lego on line, I am wondering if it is necessary for me to have some kind of insurance in case anything happens to someone who buys from me (small child choking etc..). I know it may sound silly, but you never know. Can anybody tell me what their thoughts are on something like this? Thank you

I've been buying online for years now from all of the big LEGO dealers (you know the companies I'm talking about) and never seemed to have problems with damaged boxes. Seems as of late no matter where I order from the Lego boxes are poorly packed and then crushed by the shipper. Doesn't seem like there is any care in packaging anymore. They throw them into a shipping box that is too big and don't use proper packing materials and then the shipping company tosses them around and by the time they arrive the Lego boxes are crushed. Anyone else having similar problems?
