Hi from close to Legoland Florida (Minecraft Question)

Featured Replies

Hello, Kevin here. I'm just starting to get into Lego investing and discovered the site through The Brick Show. I actually went to High School and played baseball with Jason from the show and it's been fun watching his reviews. If it's not considered bad form to ask a question right off the bat I'd like to ask an opinion. I have a chance to acquire about 5-10 Minecraft sets from Legoland Florida tomorrow. I previously did this and got a nice return on my investment. However, now, with the recent big sell off on Lego.com and Christmas almost over, I'm concerned the bottom is about to fall out on these sets. I sold my last Minecraft set about a week ago for $135 and now I'm seeing on eBay they are topping out around $85-90. Now, that's still a nice profit over the $35 price tag but are these prices going to keep dropping as parents aren't looking for their kids for Xmas anymore? What's the forecast for the sets for after the Holidays? Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi Kevin. I called the two Lego Stores in my area this evening and was told that Lego will be making more of these sets after the beginning of the year but could not tell me for sure if they would be available in the Lego stores or just at Shop at Home. I think the demand will still be very high for this set, but whether or not it maintains these high prices will strictly depend on how much Lego increases the production. The last batch sold out in three hours just a few weeks ago.......

I had a feeling they were going to start ramping up production again since Minecraft is just so huge. So it sounds like if I were to snag 5 of these that I should do a quick turnaround on them and not hold on to them hoping they climb back up over $100. Once the holiday rush is over (which it pretty much already is) and they are plentiful on store shelves the secondary market is going to dry up really fast. Thanks for the info. Now I need to brainstorm with the wifey to see if we pull the trigger tomorrow.

Your welcome!! I actually almost bought one earlier today for 80.00, but decided to wait it out till next month...

I'm definitely skipping buying more Mindcraft after checking the eBay sales this morning. All the moms are off of eBay now with the Christmas shipping deadline come and gone and most of the current sets expiring soon are barely reaching $60. It's just too much stress and effort to at least not double my money. With production (seemingly) cranking back up in the new year, I just don't see the Mindcraft sets as a sure thing anymore, especially when I would need a quick turnaround on my investment with my limited bank account.
