Hello all, firstly I'd like to say that I've always thought LEGOs were cool. Just never got big into them. As I spend the majority of my time deeply in the football card community.

However tonight I stumbled across quite a few sets that were 75% off, which came to roughly $3.00 per box. Those being the Iron Man 3 (76008), Man of Steel (76002), Star Wars (75000, and 75001), and last but not least Lord of the Rings (79005).

So considering they were so cheap I purchased 34 total. Opinions??

Please, and thank you! I look forward getting into the LEGO community!

Welcome!  At 75% off you can rarely go wrong with Lego.  I'm surprised you found 75000 and 75001 so cheap as they just came out, nice find!

Welcome and congrats on your finds.

Out of curiosity, which retailer had the sale?

Also, your best bet is to wait until each of these goes EOL (end of life) and are no longer available at retail pricing. That way you can sell at 15-20 and make a great ROI.

These being super light sets, you can likely box them and keep it under 13 ounces to save on shipping cost within the US via first class mail (as opposed to Priority).

They won't be HUGE $$$ sets, but they will bring you great ROI. Start looking for stacks of small sturdy boxes (that have already been emptied) at your local Walmart, ask politely if you can have them, and stash them away until its time to sell. This will save you $ on packing supplies.

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the great advice!!

Also, I stumbled across them at a local Kroger, it looks as if they did a reset to the toy isle. An went on a markdown spree! Which I took advantage of.

Just out of curiosity, how much does the quality of the box impact the value? For example, some of the boxes look great, others may have white edges, corners etc. Then there are a slim few that have actual indentations.

Thanks!

For 95% of re-sales, condition of the boxes isn't a major concern as long as there aren't gapping holes and the factory seals aren't broken. Some collectors would have an issue with 'shelf wear' but not too many. Just be honest about the condition if and when you decide to advertise them.
