Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called

 

I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings.

 

Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it ends lol.

Friday Night Lights (Sports): I'm not a football guy, but the cinematography and story made this a refreshing change to the typical, predictable, sports movie. Plus, the instrumental music by Explosions in the Sky fits perfect (note: the trailer is crap, watch the film).

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (Fantasy): If you are on a Lego forum where Lego LOTR products are frequently discussed, you probably already know how awesome the films are. If you don't, I'll leave it up to the mods to immediately revoke your membership to BrickPicker (jk).

 

And last I'll just end with my favourite TV show, which is probably going into its final season this year, The Mentalist (crime procedeural): this murder-a-episode series focuses on a former psychic who is now tracking the serial killer who murdered his family. The show can be light and funny, but when the serial killer ("red john") gets involved, it can get pretty unnerving. The series has spent 5 years tracking down murderers so feels a bit tired, but it is still my favourite. And, I'll post a trailer for the 3rd season finally:

Haha, true. My wife's memory has gone way downhill ever since kids. I get those non-existent memories from her all the time. 

Not me.  I kept the tickets to my sons first baseball game.  Our home team also gives a certificate to kids for their first game so that should look nice in a frame.  Hopefully he likes baseball.  100 movies a year, that seems like a lot to me.  Interesting collection.

Apparently, not that much. According to a quick eBay search I did, 3 tickets for A New Hope sold for $9.99. The picture is too small for me to tell if the date is stamped, sorry.

Batman: The Animated Series

One of the best depictions of Batman in any media.  Gotham was as dark as it should be.  Batman was smart, decisive, grim, and tough but yet fair.  The voice actings were superb and the musical scores helped build up the athmosphere.  The storyline was engaging and "grown up" oriented without being too complicated.

This was the show that introduced Harley Quinn to the world.  The character was so popular, the character was added to the mainstream Batman comics based on the show (usually it is the other way around)

This Batman was the base of the other DC animated shows that came after it (Justice League, Batman Beyond, etc)

I would rather watch this version of Batman than any other versions, real life or otherwise

I seriously cannot '+1' that post no matter how many times I hit that darn green arrow! That was probably the greatest superhero animated series ever conceived, period. I still don't know who thought of getting Luke Skywalker to do the voice of the Joker. I mean, who would think that?!

The reason Avatar in Imax 3D was the best is because James Cameron spent 3 Years filming the Movie In IMAX 3-D, 90% of 3-D Movies since Avatar has been Converted 3-D, Take Man of Steel, I seen it in Imax 3-D First, then I saw it in Just IMAX, The Plain IMAX was better, Now next week will be Pacific Rim in IMAX 3-D and Grown-ups 2 . Now go back to 1960 when it was .25 to see a movie, and .50 Saturday and Sunday and they usually had two Elvis Movies, John Wayne, stuff like that. .25 for a bag of Popcorn and soda and .15 for a candy bar. in 1963 when Clint Eastwood's Fistfull of Dollars came out we I was 14, and it was playing in the city, so me and my buddy took the bus and when we got there it says it was playing with a Triple XXX Porno film, so crap so we just walked up and got our tickets and nobody said nothing.   Ed

Not as old as your stories, but I do remember back in the early 80's when you could ride your bike down to the local 7-11, get a slurpee for like 50 cents and it would have a pair of those old school red/blue 3D glasses attached to it, and about once a week one of the major networks like CBS or NBC would show a movie in 3-D, it was usually some old Western or sci-fi film that had been converted, but I used to love getting a slurpee and those glasses. Of course there was no DVR back then and VCR's were too expensive for most families, so you better be ready and sitting in front of the TV when it came on.

Remember Captain EO? Now that was some quality 3D stuff.  They still have it at Disney World, but they converted it to the newer passive shutter tech now.

I saw that recently at DW Florida, it was fantastic! Sad though, considering what happened to MJ (in real life)...

This was one of my all time favorite television series. The integration of narration and visual imagery was perfect, and was such a perfect role for John Hurt. My favorite tale was "Hans My Hedgehog" and "The Soldier and Death" although all of them were just as good as the last really.

I been going to the movies since about 1957, now back then and up to the 80's most theaters just gave you a plain movie ticket, just like a raffle ticket, Not until the Lowe's, AMC, Regal and a few other major Movie Chains came around, there Ticket Stubbs had the Movie, date etc on it, Thats when I started Saving mine, and if the movie was in 3D I Put the ticket on the glasses with a Rubber Band I usually see about 100 or so movies a year. Alot of people think this is stupid and alot of people I told do it now, So you take your 7 year old son to see Superman in 3D, well save the glasses with the Movie Ticket and what other movies your kids see or what you see, and in 20-30 years or so will love looking at those old movie stubbs. If it sounds stupid and a waste of time well don't do it, plus you might have the 2 ticket stubbs of you and your girlfriend or wife of your first date or so, Plus I also have a wall Calendar for each year where I put where I saw the movie and rate it 1-4 Stars. As of now the Best 3D Movie is Avatar in IMAX, and if you ever get chance to see Friday The 13th Part in 3D at a Theater go see. There are only about 5 Theaters in the US that can show it the way it was in 1983. It has to be the old Theater, not the newer Theaters, so Check the picture below.   Ed
