Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called xD

I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings.

Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it ends lol.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtPX2kXhu7I

Friday Night Lights (Sports): I'm not a football guy, but the cinematography and story made this a refreshing change to the typical, predictable, sports movie. Plus, the instrumental music by Explosions in the Sky fits perfect (note: the trailer is crap, watch the film).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzyp4qOW0F0

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (Fantasy): If you are on a Lego forum where Lego LOTR products are frequently discussed, you probably already know how awesome the films are. If you don't, I'll leave it up to the mods to immediately revoke your membership to BrickPicker (jk).

And last I'll just end with my favourite TV show, which is probably going into its final season this year, The Mentalist (crime procedeural): this murder-a-episode series focuses on a former psychic who is now tracking the serial killer who murdered his family. The show can be light and funny, but when the serial killer ("red john") gets involved, it can get pretty unnerving. The series has spent 5 years tracking down murderers so feels a bit tired, but it is still my favourite. And, I'll post a trailer for the 3rd season finally:

Phew, if you got through all that... you don't get bored easily, do you? Now tell me your picks!

"Peacemaker" was one of the best comic series I've watched on TV.

After watching the Suicide Squad movie I did not like the character at all. Didn't understand why Peacemaker would get his own show.

I'm a few episodes behind but I actually really enjoy the show. Was amazed that I actually like the character and have sympathy for him.

He was kind of conditioned to be an a-hole.

"The Batman" was good overall, but very long and heavy on the exposition. There really isn't much action in it for a 3 hour Batman movie. It's a well made movie and the acting is great, but I won't be in a hurry to watch it again. Easily could have been a 2 1/4 hour movie.

A movie about filming a movie in the bubble. Hmmm...

I liked it. I dont want the over the top marvel action movie. Nice change. Was much more about the detective piece.

Definitely a standalone. The quality was better, but seems like a one-off, like "Joker". I guess they might be doing some spin-offs for HBO series.

I loved it. I've heard talk of spin-shows but also that a film sequel is in the works. Possibly a trilogy

I saw it,  thought about it and passed for now.  Might try it later on.

The Tourist could actually help Spice Girls BHZ...

Agreed. I don't watch much television and this caught my interest. Definitely clicking all the right buttons for my personality.

Pieces of Her on Netflix is garbage.

This user review on IMDB summarizes my thoughts.

Loses steam early on. Bella Heathcote turns in horrible performance.
I'm a big fan of Toni Collette but she's in a dog of a series with this one. Collette's a natural actor with a wonderful range. The same can't be said for her costar Heathcote who acts her character instead of inhabiting it. The limp script doesn't give her much help.

2 shows I am watching neither is great but both are good.

The Dropout on Hulu is the Elizabeth Holmes Theranos story better than the HBO documentary The Inventor. I read the book Bad Blood so I know the story and still find it entertaining and it has some good cast members. Probably best to wait for it to be over and binge it.

Winning Time on HBOMax. The story of the Los Angeles Lakers when Jerry Buss buys the team and Drafts Magic Johnson. It has good long-term potential as a young creative Jeanie Buss is already in it. I hate when actors break character and talk to the camera and the first 2 episodes have a lot of that but it is still entertaining. Michael Chiklis as Red Auerbach is a blast from the past.

The last 2 episodes and ending of The Tourist on HBOMax SUCKED! Not sure who recommended that one ;)

I agree, The Dropout is good. I followed her story and watched the HBO doc and 20/20 episode.  A fascinating story indeed.  I'm also looking forward to watching #WECRASHED when it airs a few more episodes. The WEWORK documentary is a good one too.

I need to check this out.  I saw the documentary and other videos around the whole Theranos thing.  It was fascinating how a woman could trick a bunch of money people + CVS using essentially a sci-fi story.

Perhaps what more fascinating is that after all of the news, trial, and conviction, she still has supporters who believe in her.

The Dropout was fine.  I think Amanda Seyfried did a great job as Holmes, the whole series just felt longer than it needed to be.  I had watched the documentary and listened to a podcast series so I knew where things were headed, and both of those other mediums told the story quicker than the Hulu series.

Severance was excellent.  I felt like they revealed just enough each episode to keep things going.  I do feel like the first season is more of a part one of a season rather than a complete season, but that's splitting hairs.
