Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called xD

I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings.

Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it ends lol.

Friday Night Lights (Sports): I'm not a football guy, but the cinematography and story made this a refreshing change to the typical, predictable, sports movie. Plus, the instrumental music by Explosions in the Sky fits perfect (note: the trailer is crap, watch the film).

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (Fantasy): If you are on a Lego forum where Lego LOTR products are frequently discussed, you probably already know how awesome the films are. If you don't, I'll leave it up to the mods to immediately revoke your membership to BrickPicker (jk).

And last I'll just end with my favourite TV show, which is probably going into its final season this year, The Mentalist (crime procedeural): this murder-a-episode series focuses on a former psychic who is now tracking the serial killer who murdered his family. The show can be light and funny, but when the serial killer ("red john") gets involved, it can get pretty unnerving. The series has spent 5 years tracking down murderers so feels a bit tired, but it is still my favourite. And, I'll post a trailer for the 3rd season finally:

Phew, if you got through all that... you don't get bored easily, do you? Now tell me your picks!

Orville is a complete ripoff of Star Trek. I thought it would be more of a spoof heavy on comedy but the third episode is serious with some jokes sprinkled. It is a pretty good show though but they basically took Next Generation and made their own version of it and changed the names of the characters and gave it a more comedic tone.

Meanwhile, CBS and Paramount can’t figure that out.

I’m good with this being TNG v2. I’m an episode behind, but I was hooked with episode 1.

Well, CBS Studio pretty much declared the concept of space exploration outdated and would rather play war in space.  Can't blame anyone else for taking the tested and true concept and ran with it :P

I managed to watch Ep 3 of STD prior to my 1 week CBS All Access trial ending.  This felt like the actual pilot to the series (last week was the prequel movie?).

Still not sure.  It piques my interest a little bit.  I think what I'm interested in is more the way they plan on reconciling STD with TOS.  We'll see...

Haven't watched The Orville Ep 4 (last week's) yet.  I need to watch it tonight.

Recently finished my fifth (possibly sixth, I've honestly lost track) rewatch of Breaking Bad. IMO the greatest piece of cinema ever created.

Giant gorillas just seem stale yknow. Like why gorillas? Let someone make a movie about a giant 300' rampaging giraffe

You know the routine.  Remake every monster or superhero movie a dozen times.  How many Spidermans do we need?  Godzillas?

A handful of the films he starred in have ranged from just okay to perhaps should have stayed on the cutting room floor. Dwayne Johnson is a cool character all the same. Admittedly I wasn't much a fan of his wresting persona back in the day.

Well there is going to be a 3D animated Spider-Man - Into The Spider-Verse due this December. Plus with Hollywood and Toho both going full steam, we will not be running run out of Godzillas for the foreseeable future including a Godzilla versus Kong crossover.

A stop-motion thesis film by BrotherhoodWorkshop originally made in 2010 just uploaded to their channel. Some behind the scenes clips are available if you're curious.
