Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called xD

I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings.

Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it ends lol.

Friday Night Lights (Sports): I'm not a football guy, but the cinematography and story made this a refreshing change to the typical, predictable, sports movie. Plus, the instrumental music by Explosions in the Sky fits perfect (note: the trailer is crap, watch the film).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzyp4qOW0F0

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (Fantasy): If you are on a Lego forum where Lego LOTR products are frequently discussed, you probably already know how awesome the films are. If you don't, I'll leave it up to the mods to immediately revoke your membership to BrickPicker (jk).

And last I'll just end with my favourite TV show, which is probably going into its final season this year, The Mentalist (crime procedeural): this murder-a-episode series focuses on a former psychic who is now tracking the serial killer who murdered his family. The show can be light and funny, but when the serial killer ("red john") gets involved, it can get pretty unnerving. The series has spent 5 years tracking down murderers so feels a bit tired, but it is still my favourite. And, I'll post a trailer for the 3rd season finally:

Phew, if you got through all that... you don't get bored easily, do you? Now tell me your picks!

I admitedly only watched bits & pieces of it. I probably only know about the series through the character Nami as there is a ton of fan art of her out there. :spiteful: It's actually difficult trying to find one pic without her boobs hanging out.

Well, her main costume is a bikini afterall

Get the wii version so you can do the kame-hame-ha movement to use the attack in game  :)  The game boasted the most complete character rosters and multiple game modes.  I could even play it online on a limited basis

Got it; love it! :hyper:

She does have a t-shirt sometimes but, yeah, she pretty much wore a bikini. Here is some anime logic for ya. Why is it when she wore the t-shirt she had a normal bust but then soon as the bikini top was worn she had double D's? :scratchhead:

Oh! Just remembered this one.

Sorry if I'm bringing this thread to a new low with TV show promos, but I am seriously pumped for Sunday's Mentalist episode :D (hence my red (blue) john avatar and geeky profile feed). Basically, after five seasons, the main character is catching up with what is the equivalent of Moriarty to Sherlock Holmes, Darth Vader to Luke, Ponytail guy to Willy ( :) ) etc. If you're a fan, feel free to post your guess for red john on my profile feed. We'll see this Sunday!

Nevermind people, don't even bother. The episode was so bad I feel like I wasted 6 years of my life. Way to slap all the fans who spent years compiling clues in the face...

These two videos are literally the only things that have been keeping me from falling into a mega depression lol:

(WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS IN THE FIRST ONE BOTH FOR ANY MENTALIST FANS... ALL THOUGH THERE ISN'T REALLY MUCH TO SPOIL :( )

Umm that looks awesome.

Looks good but I admit to never being a big Spidey fan. It does look very villain overloaded though, especially considering they teased Doc Ock and Vulture as well.

Too much packed into this movie, which could be a bad thing... Anyone remember Spider Man 3?

So....who all is in that one anyway? I spot Doc Ock's technology, Vulture or Green Goblin I guess, some big hulking armor thing, and somebody from the blue man group throwing sparks everywhere. I'm also trying to figure how they are writing in Parker's dad compared to the comics.

OK Spoiler alert from my basic knowledge of the movies and what I have read:

From trailer

Electro - Main protagonist
Green Goblin - Assumingly Harry Osbourne, though could be his father.
Rhino - Peripheral bad guy in mech suit

Vulture and Doc Ock attachments shown as well as doors up to 6 ( hinting at evil bad guy group Sinister 6) though the shot before indicated up to 8 doors. You'd expect the surviving Dr Connors to join  in the third installment (if not this one) considering the post credit scene in first installment.
Venom Easter Egg indicating something held at Oscorp

It looks way overloaded at this stage.

I thought I remember hearing Electro being in this movie and admit his original outfit from the comic book is, well, outlandish to say the least for the silver screen but what is up with him 'being blue'? Does he just need a jacket or something? And why am I reminded of the video game "Infamous"? Same goes for Rhino; original comic look doesn't work for the screen but so far neither does that mecha suit getup. If that is Green Goblin in the trailer, it doesn't look very goblin'y. It actually does look more in common with Vulture's outfit.

With all that said, I don't wish to downplay the film until I have watched it. Then I'll tear it limb from limb.

Great preview!   Just hope they don't make it a huge visual effects crap fest with poor plot and character development.

Cool! I loved the last one and had always hoped for a sequel. That never happened, but I will take a reboot.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

Will the made for DVD movies and the TV series be in continuity with this movie ?

Home alone just holds the tie time test. Still good aftwr all these years. Gets the nostalgia vote.

I just found this interesting "Top Ten Facts about Christmas" clip on youtube earlier.

Will the made for DVD movies and the TV series be in continuity with this movie ?

I'm not positively sure. So far it looks like the sequel would be well after the events of the original movie and TV series.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

My whole family geeks out over this ever since seeing the first movie at the cinemas, even having seen the animatronic show. The kids love the tv show (I'm not a huge fan) but as expected it seems the animation for the sequel has taken a massive step forwards. I do hope there is a strong continuity between it all but we will see. Expecting big things at the box office for this one.

Last night I saw The Hobbit: DoS. I thought it was very good and a huge improvement with the additional scenes adding to the story......until the last 15-20 minutes or so. Then I just was questioning why they would do that. It made the movie feel too long in the end as well, where the first acts flew past. Still, there were notable highlights (Tauriel was a great inclusion IMO), key LOTR links and arguably the best dragon ever seen on a screen. Looking forward to the final installment.....just hoping PJ doesn't give us 63 false endings.
