Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called

 

I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings.

 

Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it ends lol.

Friday Night Lights (Sports): I'm not a football guy, but the cinematography and story made this a refreshing change to the typical, predictable, sports movie. Plus, the instrumental music by Explosions in the Sky fits perfect (note: the trailer is crap, watch the film).

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (Fantasy): If you are on a Lego forum where Lego LOTR products are frequently discussed, you probably already know how awesome the films are. If you don't, I'll leave it up to the mods to immediately revoke your membership to BrickPicker (jk).

 

And last I'll just end with my favourite TV show, which is probably going into its final season this year, The Mentalist (crime procedeural): this murder-a-episode series focuses on a former psychic who is now tracking the serial killer who murdered his family. The show can be light and funny, but when the serial killer ("red john") gets involved, it can get pretty unnerving. The series has spent 5 years tracking down murderers so feels a bit tired, but it is still my favourite. And, I'll post a trailer for the 3rd season finally:

Started Easy Rider and jumped ship halfway in.  Classic for some, not for all.

 

Easy Rider is definitely a niche film. I wasn't a big fan either but then again I probably don't understand the biker culture enough to respect some of the smaller nuances. Dennis Hopper was a cool actor though. I miss that guy. Blue Velvet was awesome and felt like Hopper was playing himself.

Fruits Basket the manga is 10x better than the anime.  The anime was cut short and only covered 1/3 of the manga series

 

My all time favorite is Fullmetal Alchemist the manga series or the Bortherhood anime series.  This is the series that cover philosophy, war/peace, human nature, science, magic, religion, immortality, and artificial intelligence in a steam punk techno settings.  There is no other series can touch the mix of heavy philosophical discussions and light comedic nuances while maintaining high level of action adventure.  

ETA: Plus a walking talking suit of armor..  who can resist ?

Here is a mainstream one: Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z series.     I love how these only got really popular in US a few years ago when I grew up reading and watching these in the late 80s and early 90s.  Again, manga was better since the anime mainly consisted of the characters talking to each other while posing in fighting stances.  Some of the anime only episodes were good though, like the whole afterworld Martial Arts tournament (Goku vs Pikehan)

 

Rurouni Kenshin / Samurai X is much better watched in japanese to catch his favorite catchphrase (oro!).  IIRC it was dubbed as "ouch" in US so its uniqueness was lost in translation.  Also, if you like the goofy Kenshin, stay the heck away from the OVAs   :shocked:

I admitedly only watched bits & pieces of it. I probably only know about the series through the character Nami as there is a ton of fan art of her out there. It's actually difficult trying to find one pic without her boobs hanging out. :sweat:

Get the wii version so you can do the kame-hame-ha movement to use the attack in game    The game boasted the most complete character rosters and multiple game modes.  I could even play it online on a limited basis
