Akin to the "Musical Picks" topic, I want to hear what your all time favourite movies/television shows are. It can be anything from action to drama to sports to romance (who watches that anyway though?). Don't be shy and don't be mean to other members, even if they really did enjoy Superbaby-Geniuses or whatever that piece of crap was called

 

I'll start off with a couple of my favs; I find most of the ones I put down are great films all together, but have shining endings.

 

Blood Diamond (Thriller/Drama): Leo DiCaprio picks up a sick south african accent in this eye-opening thriller/drama. Great music but if you're a Leo fan, you can probably already guess how it ends lol.

Friday Night Lights (Sports): I'm not a football guy, but the cinematography and story made this a refreshing change to the typical, predictable, sports movie. Plus, the instrumental music by Explosions in the Sky fits perfect (note: the trailer is crap, watch the film).

The Lord of The Rings Trilogy (Fantasy): If you are on a Lego forum where Lego LOTR products are frequently discussed, you probably already know how awesome the films are. If you don't, I'll leave it up to the mods to immediately revoke your membership to BrickPicker (jk).

 

And last I'll just end with my favourite TV show, which is probably going into its final season this year, The Mentalist (crime procedeural): this murder-a-episode series focuses on a former psychic who is now tracking the serial killer who murdered his family. The show can be light and funny, but when the serial killer ("red john") gets involved, it can get pretty unnerving. The series has spent 5 years tracking down murderers so feels a bit tired, but it is still my favourite. And, I'll post a trailer for the 3rd season finally:

This feels like the billionth documentary/special/expose/whatever on these critters. I agree it was quite the phenomenon, the perfect blend of cute collectability and unknown quantities. Funny thing as the generation who grew up with these, I did not see their appeal or rather did not comprehend the obsession and honestly I still do not. There was some good information about the psychology of a bubble and addiction as well as the relationship between the brand Ty and the secondary market. As someone who was a BB reseller it was interesting to me. They reviewed how BBs were distributed regionally across the USA which made it impossible to obtain them all locally. Imagine if LEGO distributed a series of CMF by region pre Internet and what you would need to do to complete the series. Then how the beginning of AOL and eBay changed everything. Plus Mary Beth was in there, I still remember using AIM with her and Chat rooms with others to make our own distribution. 

I just watched The Last Duel. The lady and I enjoyed it.

The trailer looks good but my expectation was fairly low

We had some snow yesterday so started Mayor of Kingstown on Paramount + after shoveling.

It is GREAT! I would not post it here unless I think the vast majority of USA males would like it.  I am also really enjoying Station 11 but wouldn't recommend it here.

Cobra Kai season 4 was great.  It managed to honor the movies and tie them in with the current storyline.

I was actually sad I had to wait 1 year for the next season.

Feel the same way right now with Witcher season 3. Season 2 dropped Dec.17th.  Season 3, sometime Dec.2022.

One of my friends said they thought Witcher Season 2 was awful and advised me not to watch it. What did you think of it?

I can certainly see where he is coming from.  Season 1 was all about developing characters, finding purpose and forming relationships.  Great scenery, lots of action, easy to enjoy.

Season 2 has more struggles with the established characters and ends on a brutal cliff hanger. Since its mostly based on the book 'Blood of Elves' the story line also pivots to include the elves struggle as well. And the elves played a very little role in Season 1, so kind of a big switch.   

I did read some people's complaint was Season 2 focused too much on setting up season 3 and not enough vision for the story at present.

I personally enjoyed it from the very beginning of Episode 1.

Also, the time spent at the 'Witcher's Keep', Kaer Morhen , without giving away too many spoilers,  we get to learn a lot more about the Witcher history.

 

Season 3 is rumored to be mostly based on the more popular of the books, Time of Contempt.  Also suppose to reveal more about the 'Wild Hunt'.  Sign me up. 

It sounds like they are fantastic reads, I am looking forward to starting the series. 

 

Another possibility was your friend was disappointed not seeing Yennifer nude, unlike in season 1. In which case, I can also understand✌️😉 

But saying Season 2 was awful would be slightly over dramatic.

My friend just told me about Cobra Kai.  He really likes the show and I will definitely be watching it.  I have free time today, I think its a good time to start it. 

Watched the first 1:02 of Eternals last night. Fell asleep twice in that hour. Turned it off. Will continue later tonight.
