Getting to know you

I would just like to know how old everyone here on Brickpicker is plus what gender. Just wondering if there are a bunch of youngish men/women or oldish men/women. Thanks.

PS: If you aren't comfortable giving your age, I am not pressuring you. ;)

The other "getting to know you" topics got me wondering, just how diverse is the Brickpicker world? I am sure most of us are from the US, but I know Lego is popular worldwide. Just wanted to see where everybody was from, and in poll form as well. I'm smack dab in the middle of the United States, myself.

Most people probably got that from your name and avatar ;)

Yay!!!!!

I too am 32 and a guy. But my wife is 29!!! She's getting into it too, I'll have her sign up...she's a firecracker former Sailor.

I too am enjoying sharing memories with my Son (5), my little girl is getting into it too (3). She enjoys watching Dad build princess castles and what not. I know they're nearly worthless, but the joy in her face is definitely priceless.

And what calms my 5 month old who wears 8 month clothes (Viking child)? The epic battles on 70" during Empire...that's my boy. There's nothing more rewarding. Once more, when I finally learn from all you amazing investors/collectors and have a decent collection/investment of my own...I'll love paying for their dreams with the money my childhood love has brought. That is of course if the Navy ever decides to pay us what we're worth...thus the reason for the alternate income ?. Stupid politicians ?

Hello from Belgium.

I'm 32, my gf 33 and we're expecting a baby soon.

I was looking at investment plans and after finding the stock market too abstract, risky and ..; well... boring, I looked for alternatives and tried to find something I was good with... being Lego. I have built Lego for eons but hadn't found out until 2 months ago how profitable it could be.

I started out buying 2 batches of used mixed lego and sold them for 50% profit so far after many hours of rebuilding. My gf got interested too and we decided she'd handle the modular and special items and I would focuss on the themes (marvell, sw, harry potter, lotr, hobbit).

Let's see how it goes.

Thank you all for contributing to this forum, it has guided me in making some nice purchases so far!

I'm also very new to the site. I'm in Raleigh/Durham area (NC - USA). I'm a newly formed AFOL in my early 30's and I have re-discovered my love for Lego from my childhood. Mom and Dad are also really into it and thankfully, they were smart enough to save all my sets from when I was a kid. Castle, Space Police, I'm almost positive we have an 80's something space guy with the same broken helmet piece as well.

My wife has reluctantly tolerated my newly rediscovered love for Lego and I'm hoping I can pass the hobby down to our children, the first (a baby girl) is due in May.

As for investing, I've been on a bit o

f a budget planning for the baby, so currently I've been buying myself the sets I want with the money I can allocate to it, but I've given a lot of thought to trying to invest in Lego only to the extent that I can use it mainly to fund my own purchases. I'm curious if anyone else does this or has some tips for me?

Thanks and I'm looking forward to being a part of the community here!
