My sarcasm meter doesn't work well with you. I have no idea if you are serious or joking.

70 of 92 coronavirus cases in Massachusetts linked to Biogen employees after biotech firm's Boston meeting

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/11/health/coronavirus-massachusetts-state-of-emergency/index.html

That is incredibly bad (do you realize how many people they had contact with?) - If the incubation period is as long as believed (while being able to spread it, without having symptoms), there really might not be any way to avoid getting it.

You are right, it can be transmitted from anyone to anyone... but have you seen how gross most kids can be? They pick their nose, don't cover their mouths when they cough, scratch their butts, etc... and very few wash their hands properly, too excited to move on to the next thing. Combine that with the fact that most kids hug their friends at school daily (at least my girl does). These kids are in very close contact daily, sharing crayons and glue... I don't know how many times I have had to tell my daughter to quit swapping hair scrunchies with her friends at school.

So yes, if everyone did these things on a daily basis then they should stay home to try to help contain an outbreak.

Then that is the parents fault.  Our kids have been taught from day one not to share anything hair or clothing related, they all wash hands first thing when walking in the door from school and all have small bottles of sanitizer clipped to their backpacks that they use.

Its what I've been saying from the beginning and why its dumb to freak out like people are doing.   There is no way to contain it.  Just taking into consideration the 6 Degrees of Separation Theory alone with a 1 week plus gestation period and the way we interact and travel all over there world anymore and it's a joke to think any government could have stopped it.

Then that is the parents fault.  Our kids have been taught from day one not to share anything hair or clothing related, they all wash hands first thing when walking in the door from school and all have small bottles of sanitizer clipped to their backpacks that they use.
And all that is great and great habits for your children to develop. All I am saying is that the kindergartner who went to lunch before older children with better hygiene habits that sneezed or coughed all over the silverware in the lunch line may not have the same habits as your children, but yours get sick from them regardless. It is a long known fact that viruses and bacteria and lice spread proficiently through the school systems, preschools and daycare.

The problem with this pandemic won't be the virus, it'll be the people going crazy. Imagine being in your house 2-3 months with no permission to leave. China & Italy are already there, who says it won't happen to us all? I wonder what sick laws the governments will push through taking advantage of this "global crisis". Everything is possible at this point.

You may want to consider reassessing your delivery and subject matter when practicing comedy. Looking through all your posts in this thread equate to the reading/writing level of a 5th grader. If you want to contribute, why not be productive?!

I dont think anyone here thinks there is a government/nation out there more powerful than a virus. If you do, I have land on the moon to sell ya.

What I AM saying is, the first confirmed case is being traced back to mid-Nov.  Its obviously too much to ask to not LIE about a potential Epidemic/Pandemic.  One of the greatest faults was allowing the Chinese New Year festivals to still take place.  Then, We, the US, allowed people back in the country. Then our president lied, 'repeatedly' about the situation.

All of this lying to protect profits, shareholders, wallstreet, etc,  eventually effects us 'common' folk the most.  What a time we live in when capitalism is more important than public health.

I think it is pathetic and embarrassing that South Korea has administered 200,000 tests for Coronavirus, versus our paltry 6,500 tests. Are we sure we live in a democracy???

Wife corrected me...South Korea is  Socialist Democracy whereas US is a Capitalist Democracy

Once relies on the greed of government officials and the other on the greed of corporations

What do you all want the government to do?  If they start shutting things down or quarantining people there will be people channeling their inner Rage Against the Machine and saying "eff you I won't do what you tell me."  They don't make anything unless they contract with someone, like New York and their sanitizer with a very nice floral bouquet scent.

They could certainly provide some best practices, but peoples lives have to go on.  Having kids stay home from school is a big deal for working parents, especially if you don't have time off. Having people stay home from work is going to possibly affect their paychecks.  Government getting involved complicates things.

I think when the news first hit (Late Dec)...it was ALREADY in every continent sans Antarctica (luck bastards).

Think about it...the first report case was Dec 1 in a city (although obscure to most in the West) is actually the size of NYC or greater LA region that is HUB for travel in China So the virus could have been transmitted for 6 weeks prior to any travel quarantine. I think it was foolhardy for officials and flat out negligent of "experts" to even HINT that it could be contained...every nation should have been on the clock in preparations as early as January.

wow...what is it like having clone children?

I've looked into it...great discipline but I can't get past that darn Order 66 that causes the kids to grow up and then kill the parents ...I'm use to it being more a slow death by disappointment

Quarantine effectiveness...one area Communism>Democracies

US has no hope of effectively quarantining major segments of the country...it's more likely we see a vaccine before "containment" like Wuhan

Daily Coronavirus thoughts...

You have to wonder about the stupidity of educated people.  The "doctor" from King of Prussia, PA that infected numerous people should have known better after traveling outside the country.  The Biogen conference is a joke.  These are highly educated people from around the world that deal with "biotechnology" and they f*cked up?  You can't fix stupid.

As for the government handling the financial situation...Keep it simple...Concentrate on the coronavirus issue and keep people calm and safe and everything else will take care of itself.

For starters, travel should have been restricted/limited in the beginning. Borders should have been tight if not shut down completely. Sure that may seem drastic, TO YOU. But  I mean, c'mon, there are still people boarding cruises TODAY!  Would it have hurt the economy more for a few months of social distancing or what we are seeing develop in front of our very eyes? I guess only you know?

Also, Italy is stepping in and making mortgage payments for people.  WHY LET IT GET TO THIS POINT???  Ground airplanes, stop trains. I mean its not rocket science, its actually very basic virology.

I am working for one of the big semiconductor companies, located in Colorado tho, not in bay area.

Corporate just issued a mandatory working from home exe order till the end of this month.
