Introduction and seeking opinions on SW Sphero BB8 as a collectible

Featured Replies

Been collecting for a while and just found this site. Great to be able to come here and get a sense of the value of some of my sets. I was wise enough not to open a couple of them, and I am glad I did not, but I am also kicking myself for not buying some of the one's I was eying over the years, like the Hogwarts Express. I am also surprised to find some of the very first sets (like the 7181 Tie Interceptor) are not higher up on the list.

At any rate, I just picked up the Sphero BB8 from Force Awakens based on how well some of my Star Wars sets appreciated. I mentioned it to a friend of mine and he said he thought it would be too highly mass produced to be a collectible. Any thoughts from the board members here? I am really itching to crack it open, but don't want to be regretting it later.

I personally do not think the Sphero BB-8 is going to be worth more than msrp down the line. Open it up and have fun with it.

The time to make money on this item has passed........it could have been flipped before Christmas when supplybwas short but that shortage has been corrected by Sphero. Open it and have fun with it......it's a cool toy no doubt.

Welcome! I ultimately decided to pass on the Sphero BB-8 as well. The money spent on those is still better served on most exclusive LEGO sets right now.
