Hey guys. Just another bloke who happens to love LEGO.

Been collecting basically my whole life ( excluding those few years during dark ages and even then i might have bought a few sets )

According to brickset i own 480 sets, not counting collectible minifigs and multiple sets and i wouldn't sell any of em. My fav themes are Modulars/Winter Village/Western/Castle/Pirates/Harry Potter/Indiana Jones/LOTR.

A few months back i started thinking about investing: bonds, mutual funds etc and frankly i wasnt impressed with all fees and kinda low roi and then one day i see some discounted sets in local store, like 50% off.. wanted to buy them but didn't for some reason..and later on i went exploring for a bit and realise how much sets and especially Modular buildings are worth on secondary market. Dang. Why didn't i invest in LEGO earlier, it feels so natural since i've always been a fan and everything, but i never thought about reselling until past week. I'm suddenly hooked and while i want to go on a shopping spree i already established a few rules and will only start will few essential sets.

For first long term investment I'm thinking about : Arkham Asylum. Surely this will be worth a fortune?, already making decent bucks according to sold listings on ebay, isnt it.

For others i'm not really sure yet and will appreciate some insight and advice  - Kingdoms Joust, Winter Village Market, Pet Shop, Palace Cinema, Ghostbusters ideas set, Birds ideas set, The Tumbler..

Should i invest in these, surely some are not officially retired in general but I don't have a lot of options when it comes to buying these sets, no official LEGO stores, SAH doesnt ship here, so i really need to grab a chance when they have a particular set on shelves. I haven't completely explored everything online and just discovered this absolutely amazing site 2 days ago so i still have a lot of reading and researching to do but then again i'm pressed for time since there is a local lego convention this weekend and this will probably be the only chance i get to purchase some of these bad boys for some time.

Thanks in advance for any comments and advice !

Welcome. The best advice I can offer is to read, then read, and when you finish read some more. Also before you go on a buying binge sell a few items just to get a feel for the process. Buying is easy, selling isn't.

Welcome, and read!  Your other choices are all quite good; I'd be happy with any of them from an investment perspective.  Personally, I like Birds as a low-cost, near term buy in.  Tumbler will do well, as long as its not out forever like the Death Star.

Hello and welcome.

Arkham Asylum probably will sell well. I only have 2 of those due to the high price but certainly you could add some to your inventory.

Be careful with Kingdom's Joust. It is a tricky set imo. Knights are not THAT popular anymore and I think return on this one will be rather slim.

Also have a look at Star Wars. I'm sure you're aware Star Wars films are coming up. Some nice large sets can make a good return.

But as many stated already above, read the forum. Almost every set has its own topic and many opinions.

Welcome!

My advice for you... study the price guide. Make it your own. Cause I suspect you can still find some retired sets over there at retail in some remoted toyshops.

Good luck hunting!
