My name is Ahmed and I'm from Canada. A little about me Is I love comedy, writing, and soccer. I'm 20 years old and working to put myself through university currently!
As a kid I loved playing with Legos, and recently I read an article on people using Legos as an investment/trading commodity and it just struck me as brilliant. I loved playing with them as a kid, love the world of economics and trading, plus as a student living out on my own for the first time, it seems like something that requires much less start up capital than traditional trading, but also holds the potential to make me some extra money, which is something every student could use!
I just wanted to quickly introduce myself, as well as ask: What is one piece of advice you would give someone starting out totally fresh? This site has been my source of a lot of what I know/have learned since discovering this "community" so if there is any master post/helpful blog posts I may have missed, definitely let me know!
Also, my initial strategy to get my toes wet were to start my portfolio with some Mixels... unfortunately I'm late on the first set but set two has hit the shelves, my reasoning is thus:
1) Only $5/6 bucks per Mixel, which my wallet likes (as i said, im a student)
2) From what i can tell, the first series is doing very well on the secondary market, I understand the Yellow's are in the highest demand but a quick amazon search shows me Teslos going for $40-50 CAD and Vulks going for $8-19 bucks, the Vulks aren't even retired as of yet either... although they are OOS on Lego dot com.
3) The first series was released in March from what I've read, meaning their shelf life/appreciation time to this point is less than a year, which is quite impressive
Understandably not everything in this world is "buy item", "wait", "sell item for more" , so I was hoping for some feedback on this strategy/any helpful info at all.
Thanks guys, and I look forward to getting to know some of you in the future and growing this community!
