1978 Technical Set

Hi, I'm new to this site. I've just been given a present that I was supposed to receive 36 years ago but it was left in a cupboard and forgotten about. It is a Crane Set (New Technical Set) code 855 and it is in absolute mint condition. What's something like this worth?

Quite a bit...but...as with anything, it depends what another person is willing to pay.  There might be someone out there who connects with that set on an emotional level because of childhood memories and will pay top dollar to acquire it.

Oh WOW, I'd donate that to the Lego Museum in Bilund!

These old expert sets pop up on eBay from time to time. I would guess 300 or so for this one.

I agree with the true valuation up to $300 - but I would do a $395 or best offer.

Since there is little (if any) track record, and it looks to be in beautiful condition - someone would likely pay more.

Have a search on eBay for this set and look at the sold listings. A boxed version, complete but opened went for

Thanks, I'll have to have a think about this. Ideally it should go to someone that has some sort of a connection with it or perhaps it should go to the Lego museum given its condition.
