I had a very LEGO heavy childhood. If I look at old catalogs from the late 80s, I remember having like 90% of those sets (minus DUPLO). I used to play with almost everything, from Fabuland to all LEGOLAND series, Technic and Model Team, you name it.

Just recently, I started buying LEGO again. I was tempted to automatize many things in a City scenery with PF and an EV3, Trains, signals, switch points, conveyor belts, maybe vehicles?

I also like Technic, the freight plane was a total blast. Would love to get an RC car with controllable transmission. Maybe I'll open one of my 4x4 crawler or pick ups and try a MOC.

I'm a casual investor at best, just picking up some extra sets if I see a good offer. I really like having the options to either use sets whenever I want or just sell them later.

welcome to brickpicker.

Welcome to BP makro.

I'm calling it... if you stay on this forum for any length of time, you'll be converted to more than a "casual investor". You've been warned. ;)

Great introduction and we are glad to have you.

I was also an eightie's Lego kid and am having a blast re-discovering Lego with my kids (and with my investment money).

Speed Sausage nailed it... the more you study and learn here, the less likely you will remain a casual investor. Done right, there is very real money to be made with this hobby.

Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

At first, I was very tempted by the prospect of return of investment rates way above any other investment opportunity. But I quickly realized that it's not pure investment, but more of a mixture between investment and work. There's nothing wrong with that, but if it's purely about the money, I guess I would earn more per time with my regular work. But as it is something I really like to do, I don't have to worry about that at all.

Since I travel quite a lot for work, I had my girlfriend involved, receiving shipments at home or picking them up at the store. She asked for a 5% profit, I raised her to 10 (we aren't that serious in separating our balances anyway).

I received a Parisian restaurant last week that I got at 28% below MSRP (a rather rare discount for a modular in Germany). Box came with some minor shipping damages, no big deal but not ideal for investing. I was thinking about sending it back for a refund, but my girlfriend instantly fell in love with the set and asked if she could just have it as a down payment. Really nice how easily I got her involved in my legoing.
