Government increases checking second hand sites

Featured Replies

Heared from a jurist yesterday that the Belgian government is controlling more and more the second hand sites for people that have little shops on them.

While in the Netherlands, there is a ceiling of 1-2k

Thanks for the heads-up Neosphinx.

You should always be careful on this issue and make sure you keep track of what you buy and sell. Even when you stay below the threshold. Cause tax office can still accuse you of earning more than allowed and it will be you to provide evidence that you did not.

Anyone have any idea what the threshold in Germany is?

But how do they know who the actual person behind a tweedehands.be account is?

I honestly don't know. There are ways of course. Name in the e-mailadress, phone number, facebook account. You know our government can be very creative if they smell money.

But how do they know who the actual person behind a tweedehands.be account is?

They know. They just request "tweedehands.be" for your personal information. Also your bank and paypal have to report suspicious unusual transactions. And as I stated before, if only they have the slightest suspicion that you earn good money with selling lego you will be guilty as charged. And then you have to proof that you are not. The burden of proof is with you, not with the tax office.

Tweedehands.be doesn't have any personal information on me. You're not required to fill in that information when you register.

Unless they log the ip-addresses you use to access your account.

The fiscus has a nose for money. Don't be too overconfident they can't find you ;)
