  1. You could divide it by brick count too. That might give appropriate weight to larger sets, especially if it was a large lot with 10+ sets involved.
  2. Mega Bloks Dragons Man O' War. http://spotmydot.blogspot.com/2005/04/mega-blocks-dragons-man-o-war.html
  3. This is an excellent pair of promos, which more than makes up for the lame sets being offered in August. September can't come soon enough.
  4. If you get this set sub $90, you will almost certainly make a significant return on it once it hits retirement. Look at how the previous Ninjago dragon sets have done, especially factoring in that an investor would have obtained them at 20% or more off MSRP. This is another set I expect to read thread after thread about this time next year, investors madly dashing about hunting for any remaining stock and happily paying full retail price for any sets they do manage to find. If you plan to quick flip this one, I personally feel like you're leaving a lot of profits on the table.
  5. I'm banking on a solid return from this set. I would not, however, expect 600%+ returns in under 3 years as routine. Get them for $25 or less though and you'll probably be sitting pretty a year after they're retired. I'd be shocked if you didn't double your money within 2 years, and that's nothing to sneeze at.
  6. I'm certain this is a scam, just not sure of the mechanics behind it. I'd be interested to know if your son gets his order Ed.
  7. I believe we're all basically good at heart, and everyone bwahahahahaha.....
  8. promotionlists.com. Try that pickleboy As with most things if something appears too good to be true or "off"... Whois shows no contact info, just a "Stacey Scott" and a PO box in CA. The phone isn't connected. Willy's payment went unanswered. They sell and eclectic mix of things, including a strange variety of Lego sets which would be impossible for any small time business to acquire through legitimate channels, and at a price which they could not possible be making any profit on. Either this is some sort of elaborate fence for stolen merchandise, a clumsily executed attempt at a money laundering business, or just another scam...
  9. If everyone is confident gold is going significantly lower, why not go short? Watch out for the bear trap though. Blythe and the algos don't play fair...
  10. Did you also crash the price of gold willy? :)
  11. Silver below $20...
  12. If you do pull the trigger, betting either long or short, I would personally carefully hedge my position and/or keep tight stops. If taking physical delivery I'd keep it close and tell no one. I'd also expect more volatility in the next few months, but at some point there very well could be a fierce rally and sharp retracement depending on any number of factors. Something about trying to catch a falling knife comes to mind...
  13. Anybody dare to to and price this thing out, gte a feel for how much "real value" went into it? I assume there's nowhere near $1500 worth of actual parts in there, so you're paying a pretty hefty price tag for some custom sails and decals. I'm not trying to disparage the guy for taking a stab at the big bucks, and if he happens upon a collector with money to burn then good on him, but honestly seeing something like this would more likely inspire me to build my own then it would get me to open the checkbook...
  14. Whatever happens I'm confident the ones I managed to snag on the 4th were the rock bottom price on this set. Whenever it finally does EOL I should be set up to make a tidy, though perhaps not a spectacular profit. Whatever. When you get a chance to buy a UCS set at 50% off MSRP you answer the bell :)
  15. I'm with you guys. The price point just seemed off on weathertop, and I think a whole lot of consumers agreed with us. The good news is slow sales typically equals low numbers available on the secondary market ina few years, so this one might actually be a sleeper. Especially if Lego doesn't get around to releasing any other black rider style Ringwraiths. Canonically 5 wraiths attacked Weathertop, so I really would have liked to see at least one more included in the set. Maybe a distinctly different one to represent the Witchking?
  16. If the Maersk Train is complete you may actually make some decent money on that lot. You're paying a bulk rate, but from the list you posted it actually seems like you've got a bunch of complete sets which have just been jumbled together. If you want to spend a weekend or two getting your hands dirty sorting you might make some decent money sorting those sets out and then selling them on, especially if all those sets come with instructions and really are 100% complete. You could also get hosed and just have a bunch of half complete scrap you'll be lucky to recoup your initial investment on. If there's no really desirable sets in there which will peak collector's interests when it come's time to sell then $300 is probably what you'll get at auction on eBay. The question then becomes do you pay eBay prices for a cash transaction through CL? Can you also verify if the Maersk train is at least actually in the lot? That would go a long way, at least in my mind, towards whether or not I'd consider the deal.
  17. I think Weathertop sold poorly, and probably had production shutdown months ago. Emazers is likely correct in his suspicion that HD was being cranked out right up to the final gong this month. They will be phased out though, as all Lego sets inevitably are, to make room for the incoming wave of LOTR and Hobbit sets being released now and later this year. I did get 5 forges from that unexpected Target sale a few weeks ago, and am debating ordering more even if I have to pay full price.
  18. Didn't members call BS, Starpod posted a single pick of a small pile of Yodas, then someone linked to the auction he swiped the pic from? It was a new seller with zero feedback, hardly the "powerseller who makes 11k a month" which he claimed. He also never could account for exactly how he could acquire 1/5 of the total production of those minifigs, nor how he physically removed over 200 X-wing sets from the Times Square TRU which must have been a logistical nightmare. Not shocked that it ended up being a scam, though I am sorry for any members who got taken and I sincerely hope that they paid with a secure method and got reimbursed. Good riddance.
  19. Fry's online stock tracker trolled me earlier this year. Showed some HP sets in stock at the Las Vegas store. Drove downtown, found open boxes with parts missing, left disappointed...
  20. Honey badger don't care...
  21. Why a limit of 5? I'd move heaven and earth to get more if a customer would pay me 10x retail for those and I ran out of stock on my warehouse floor...
  22. Lego should have just kept plugging along, releasing the Chima characters on the "Spinnerzs" at the $10 price point. The $15 speedorz will probably prove to ultimately be a marketing misstep.
  23. Epic Dragon and Golden Dragon this year, hold for 2014 or later. Then look out for a set tentatively called the Mechadragon which we should start seing preview pictures of some time this summer to be released just before Christmas 2013. I'm banking on those being a buy and hold for 2015
  24. If I were a collector that auction would inspire me to bricklink my own blackout Falcon. I would definitely not pay $1700 for, essentially, a convenience fee for someone else to do the leg work and compile the parts for me. How in the world could you be that big of a fan of Lego and yet be so uninformed? It isn't like this was a one of a kind special release from Lego itself. Why can't I find buyers like this?
  25. I'm guessing Battle of Salamis, and frankly I'm shocked this movie wasn't made sooner. Can't wait. Pacific Rim, I will pay my money and end up regretting it :)
