  1. I'm confused. The OP was asking which was a fun build, not which is a great final result. SSD is maybe the worst build in all of Legos...just the same pieces over and over. Net result looks awesome but it is the most boring build there is. Of those three you mentioned, Death Star is the only one that doesn't make me want to blow my brains out with boredom.
  2. Tower Bridge and SSD are two of the worst builds I've ever done....both easily in my bottom 5 all time. Just my opinion but I would never build either of those again.
  3. Either way, that's definitely not the most expensive minifig ever, not even close. Those 5 C-3POs have sold for between $1000 and $2000. There is some signed Green Lantern one that has gone for over $5000. There are the special one of a kind, gold, silver and bronze Boba Fett's given away by TLG on May 4th, 2010. None of those have sold on the open market, but I believe that the asking price on the silver was $20,000. There's 3 Max mascot minifigs that were made as presents for TLG execs several years ago that fetch at least $25k and have been sold in private sales. The gold C-3POs are child's play compared to some of the others that are out there. Not even close to the top. p.s. The winners of the Gold C-3POs were Andrew Hoffmann, Christopher Giancola , Elizabeth Jacome, Jason Masey, & Chris Melchin.
  4. Easier solution....put it all in a mesh laundry bag, tie the top tight, and run it in the washer and then dryer. Piece of cake.
  5. What would the point be? No one is forced to buy it at over MSRP. Seems like he is just trying to turn a profit...which is the whole point of this site. I guess the point would be there is a difference between a premium for getting the set a week ahead of its release, and insanity. I think $200 or even $250 is reasonable and someone could pay it without deserving criticism but $500 in nutso.
  6. I just offered $149.99. Wonder how long he'll chew that offer over.
  7. We should have every single brickpicker make an offer at MSRP until he gets the point.
  8. Try? There is no try. There is only do or do not...something like that.
  9. Call me a purist, but as a kid born in 1976, episodes 4-6 is the only Star Wars. Episode 1-3 I could barely tolerate watching the first time. Clone Wars I can't stand at all. Everything Lucas touches he ruins, and now Disney is going to just materialize the hell out of the franchise. It even kills me to buy any new age Star Wars Legos...but I buy them like I would anything that I felt would go up in value. This is sad news to me...I guess they can't ruin Star Wars any more than they already have.
  10. Yeah, Stephen and I talked. I understand the small difference is big in principle. Unfortunately with the deal I was going to offer, I couldn't do it through eBay, I'd end up losing too much money on 'em. Guess it was a little lucky I accidentally followed all the rules the first time. :)
  11. It was my thread. I believe I had the go ahead because I already did it once with the VCs and HHs. Understand now the relationship you have with advertisers that prevents direct selling.
  12. All i know is I've opened a box's seals before with my fingernail, and none of the paper underneath came off, and it would've been easy as pie to push the sticker back down without it being noticed. Could box weighing be a way to prevent fraud? At least it makes it harder to get the exact weight right for those fake returns.
  13. Get an iphone or a cheap video camera. I videotape every single box I pack. About 2-3 years ago, a guy I shipped a $15,000 baseball card to (Eddie Mathews 1952 Topps, PSA 7) said I sent him a $5 card. I met with the police and provided the postmaster general with a copy of the video. Guess who is in jail or heavily fined for trying to commit mail fraud? That guy. Guess who saved $15,000 by taking a 2 minute video with his Canon Pure Shot camera? This guy.
  14. As a seller on eBay who actually cares about how Lego sets look when unopened, I make a big point of talking about that in my auction listings, when the item I have to sell is MINT. My feedback is perfect because out of 10,000 Lego sellers on eBay, I'm certain the quality of shipping is in the top 10, if not the top 5. I overkill with inflatables, peanuts, bubble wrap, brand new shipping boxes usually of 200 ppsi, and mountains of tape. I have NEVER had anything that I've packed well get damaged in transit. And I mercilessly leave negative feedback and file complaints for any seller who can't do the same. Spend $3 and 10 minutes extra time and save yourself $100s in trouble, that's what I say. My username is my eBay userid, so keep me in mind. I just sold the entire LOTR/Hobbit, Spongebob and Indiana Jones lines these last two months, so if you're looking for any of those, you're out of luck.
  15. Amazon has over 2,000 left in stock. This set is going nowhere anytime soon.
  16. I thought we were talking about standard sets. If you're allowing UCS sets, then the top five Star Wars sets are UCS, hands down.
  17. Nothing even remotely new seems like a good investment. I have only one set from the Star Wars theme that I think is worth the investment (10123), and that's years old.
  18. At that price, no way. Buy one at $320-340 and then it is probably worth the investnent.
  19. Can't really see it. Doesn't really get any bigger when you click the thumbnail.
  20. I played for 11 minutes once...which was 10 minutes too long.
  21. That feature has been available to me for a few weeks. I'm not using it for at least a year. I'm sure their transition center is going to be full of kinks.
  22. Yes, I think it is wrong for you to ask for return shipping. One of my buyers did that the other day, too, and I ship better than anyone on eBay. I use 200 PPSI boxes with packing peanuts, inflatables and bubble wrap with significant amounts of great tape. The seller already was kind to allow a return, sometimes it's best to take some of the load off of the seller and just cough up the return money. If the packing was truly awful, then I'd then think it ok to fish for return shipping.
  23. I've got some friends at Amazon, and the best vague answer I've ever gotten was "dimensional weight" issues pop up with some international packages, whatever the heck that means...
  24. You can PM me. I wouldn't want to do harm to a seller in a public forum. But I lend zero credence to this "sale".
