  1. Are you using some sort of adhesive to bond to plywood? I used F-26 construction adhesive. I just put it together tonight. I used a 30" by 96" solid core door blank. I put bricks all over it, and flipped it over so the weight of the door will put even pressure overnight. IMPORTANT UPDATE - Never use F-26 to glue LEGO plates to anything. Even though the tube states that it can be used on plastic, it will react with the plates and soften and distort the plates. Unfortunately, I did not test and glued all 27 plates down. Life lessons can be tough.
  2. I've built FB and TH. I really liked the way FB was built, and the details. I love the ping pong table.
  3. Outstanding work! What a cool dad. Well, I can't honestly say it's just for the kids, but thanks all the same. I like to think that we'll have hours upon hours of memories built around this table.

  5. Welcome! I'm in NWA myself. I've been here 6 years now. Let me know if you see any good local sales, and I'll do the same.
  6. I offered him $10. I let you all know if I get them. I'll display them with the new guys in the FB!
  7. I ordered (27) 10"x10" base plates today to build a 30"x90" table. My kids are pumped, but not as much as me.
  8. Very true, the interiors of the CC, MS, and GG lack the detail that started with the FB and continued on with the GE and so on. The details seem to get better and better with each newer Modular release. I must say though I really like the detail inside the FB, the table tennis setup and the fire pole are really cool features! I just received my FB today. Can't wait to put it together this weekend.
  9. Agreed. The concept is cool, but the follow through hasn't done it for me. The coolest set I've seen on there is a Technic style RC Land Rover that has independent suspension and all. The problem with CUUSOO though, a set that elaborate will get murdered when it goes to review.
  10. That's kind of what I was thinking. The set is #693, and after looking at it on BP, $10 may be too generous for an incomplete set. As you can see from this photo, it's missing quite a few pieces. The minifigs are still really cool though.
  11. I like arms too. And faces. The fact that they're older than me is pretty cool though. 1975ish.
  12. These minifigures are great. Someone just posted it on Craigslist saying to make an offer. I thought about offering $10.
  13. Amazon often has enough weight and clout to negotiate special deals with states, especially a smaller state like Arkansas (no offense, I love Arkansas...underrated as a vacation destination...the only state with a diamond mine!). They might have put a facility there with an agreement from the state that sales tax will not be charged for a certain period of time. I don't know for sure, just speculating. We had that in Texas for a while, but we now pay sales tax on Amazon purchases. So even though it's nicknamed "The Amazon Law" it may not necessarily apply to Amazon at the moment. Honestly I'm surprised though, given that WalMart is headquartered in Bentonville that Arkansas would give any kind of special treatment to Amazon. I love learning new things! Thanks for all of the info. Arkansas is definitely a great place to visit if you like the outdoors. I live about an hour from the Buffalo National River.
  14. http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/arkansas-internet-sales-tax.html "physical presence" does not necessarily mean a store. Could be that they have a warehouse or a sales rep, or in the case of Arkansas, nothing. Arkansas is a special exception. They have what is called an "Amazon Law" http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2011/2011R/Acts/Act1001.pdf That's why... That's interesting. I never pay sales tax on Amazon.
  15. I live in Arkansas, and I was charged sales tax the other day. We have no brick and mortar stores, and there are none on the list to be opening. I wish they would!
  16. These forums are most definitely the most friendly I've been a part of, and nobody is ever sarcastic, especially Stephen.
  17. The online sale excludes LEGO. Bummer...
  18. There's not enough margin there to make a profit after fees and shipping. You would need to get the baseplates at a deep discount to make a good profit on them. We're on the same page, Darth Lego! I 100% agree with you.You are probably right. What caught my eye was a listing for $8.99 + $3.99 S&****. They've sold 80+ in the last month. But you'd only be looking at roughly 30% - 40% profits after fees and shipping not to mention all the time and hassle.
  19. Has anyone ever looked into flipping plain green or blue 10" by 10" baseplates? The only place you can get them at a decent rate is the Lego Store at $4.99 ea. If you look at Ebay or Amazon, they're around $8.00. Thoughts?
  20. My kids (10 and 5) and I sorted bricks all weekend. Several of these were purchased in bulk buys. Even they decided they didn't want the Mega Blocks. My daughter (10) said, "They just fall apart when I put them together." My son (5) said, "The colors aren't as bright. You can tell which ones are fake." Kid know best.
  21. I've figured it out...I'm quitting my current job, putting everything into LEGO, and applying at McDonalds tomorrow. That's what I call a win win situation.
  22. You can backorder up to 5 sets on LEGO Shop at Home right now.
  23. You're most definitely right. I was on the phone with him for 40 minutes or so, and he went out of his way to make it work. At one point he stated that this was all that his "bureaucratic superiors would allow". After he got me fixed up, I asked to speak to his "bureaucratic superior" and made sure to leave him some very positive feedback. They were quite appreciative stating that it's all too often that they only hear the negative feedback. Once again, way to go Amazon!
