  1. Last night i realized why i like this ship so much - it looks/feels almost like an stock steampunk airship. I plan now to eventually mod this a tiny bit to make it look more like an airship (which is how i think it pretty much looks anyway) and leverage my stock of exo force minis and I also have a bunch of the exo force hair pieces that I use with my daughters extra friends figures (and a few SW figures .
  2. I dont really care about the Simpsons (since season1 ) or robot ninjas or Chima (although the 2014 sets do look cool) or even the movie I do love the SeaCow - I bought 2 so far (one for me and my kids and one to maybe sell) and blew all my points to get them. That it is part of the move does not matter at all to me. I think it is a fun larger build (unlike the Destroyer which about drove me insane with all the grey parts), is very Steampunk, unique and not fragile but appears to be very sturdy for all of us to actually play a lot with it. Some of the other boats just are not sturdy enough for serious play. My only complaint with the set so far is that I wish it broke out the build into multiple manuals so each family member can work on a section at the same time. This boat combined with the "Steampunk" MBA set is slowly getting my hopes up for one day having a true Steampunk theme. The second my kids and I all saw it online we all said wow at the same time. A first for any lego set. I think it will sell well in the future.
  3. I was late to order but lego store online has them back up with may ship date. :)
  4. I also have involved the kids in helping to clean and sort the used sets we get sometimes. I did miss thinking about "paying" them for the time. So thx for that Dunamis. I am encouraged to hear from some homeschooled folks as well. I would comment more but dont want to derail the thread. Investing with Daddy really has helped, especially with our 5 year old. My hope is that they will have more solid fiscal habits than I now have much later in life. If Legos helps in that regard - its a great value add. Also i think it would be cool if many years from now my kids can truly say that they have been Lego investors since ages 3 and 5. Each year we will put each childs "portfolio" into a binder to track (and take a digital pic to archive). They may not like it or care when they grow up but i think it would be neat.
  5. I did not realize how hard it is for a young child (ages 3 and 5) to have a Lego investor as a father. I jumped in feet first 5 months ago without thinking that through. I will say it was just about enough of a drawback that I almost stopped. Originally I had thought to keep it from them but that is not my nature and kids notice metric tons (so it seems) of boxes being delivered weekly. However it got me thinking about how to use this as a teaching opportunity (we homeschool - all things are teachable ). So after talking with my wife and then the kids they each have decided to be polybag investors. We decided to limit it to 2 polybags a year at no more than 5.00 purchase per poly. I made a chart for each of them showing money in and projected money out (including fees) and monthly we check ebay and talk about when to post the polys for sale. After all that - my question is does anyone else (1) share similar drawbacks with their kids and (2) have you ever thought about involving them in the process? thx
  6. 2 Complete Power Miners sets (all including EU polybags) with another 2/3 complete. 8 Butterfly Beauty Shop and a boatload of friends polys (been using these to teach my 2 kids about investing - ages 3 and 5).
  7. Ran into my first in store deal ever - 2x of Technic 8109 Trucks and 1 train set (red cargo). I got a 4x4 technic to get the deal. The trucks were stuck way behind some creator houses. I asked the clerk if they had any more trains as I never see them in a TRU and she said they just cleared out a lot of items from storage and she was even surprised to see the train. This was TRU in Hickory NC - they still had a few hillside houses and some dino and cars items.
  8. All I can think of when looking at Chima is that it is a crappier looking Thundercats ripoff. So far it is the theme I like the least from Lego. Maybe I am too old to get it but I generally like most of the themes and love a few (Power Miners, Technic and Creator ftw!!)
  9. TRU on Ebay has Ghost train for 67.99 limited quantity - pick up 2 and free shipping. They have some of the others also on discount. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-Monster-Fighters-The-Ghost-Train-9467-/350692750659?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item51a6eab543
