  1. I've had buyers request good packaging for items I sell on eBay, not just LEGO but other items as well. I, however, already pack things really well. After receiving boxes as you have described all damaged from regular retailers (wal mart, toys r us and amazon) I have decided that for customer satisfaction I will always package the items well. What I don't get is that packing boxes like that doesn't meet the insurance claim requirements to file for shipping damages with the major shippers (FedEx, UPS).
  2. I was already planning on taking CM off for a really long weekend but now I have a reason to be up way early that Monday. :-)
  3. If it's still built then take the manual and unbuild it right there to verify what is or isn't missing and to verify all pieces are legit.
  4. Oh Noes! This sucks actually. I needed to process a bunch of best offer bids to get some items out the door today. :-/ Non LEGO items but still. Product nonetheless.
  5. While returning some shipping damaged random city truck sets to Toys R Us (60016 and 60018) I came across an in store clearance on one of them. So I got the price change refunded to me. It's 60018 Cement Mixer. I got 3 for $11.98 when originally priced $21.99 online. I ordered 4 more (max per order) tonight online so I can get the price lowered again. Even better is I bought them using Gift Cards I bought at 20% off. I think I'm finally figuring out how to use random deals to my advantage. :-) Both sets are now retired BTW and it seems only TRU has them now for purchase.
  6. Not sure what to think about the changes. Returns are a cost of doing business but it sucks because humans suck. I am just starting out and utilizing eBay seems great but for us legitimate sellers out there it's hard to keep a float when there are people trying to scam us and eBay may not obviously care.
  7. And now never mind about receiving undamaged things from LEGO Shop at Home. Just received a package as I hit send on the previous post. I'm glad I had boxes of track to cushion the Research Institute that was inside of it. The track boxes were crushed (which is ok since I am using them for building) but the RI is in perfect condition.
  8. How about if you mark the packages as gifts from Amazon? Maybe they'll ship it slightly better? Most items I order from Amazon, regardless of what it is, are shipped pretty decently but in the last 6 mos I have noticed a downgrade in how they pack stuff and the potential for damage if the shipping company doesn't care about the package either. LEGO Shop at Home packaging has been decent so far for me. My first and what will probably be my last TRU shipment was absolutely pathetic. Nothing hurts more than seeing the box the items came in crushed and then to see such beautiful retired sets crushed inside. :-/
  9. oh, sorry. Didn't even check your location. Well at least you know they are made and most likely are made across the pond as well.
  10. 11. spaceship, spaceship, SPACESHIP! I have seen it way more times than I should have. It really is a pretty awesome movie. I also just watched it in 3D finally the other night and now it's even more amazing than it was.
  12. I got one when asking about boxes of track that they didn't have on the shelf. Figure I'll just use it when I am too lazy to go to the store for stuff under 75 and don't want to pay shipping.
  13. Interesting, wonder where he go that number from.
  14. I was there earlier. :-) That place is a trap for me though. Talk about a test of self control when I walk in.
  15. But still limited to one. I'll pick up one more for now. Maybe some more later on to buffer other purchases for free ship or something if I get a random smaller set.
  16. Hi there BrickPicker community! Relatively new here and thought I'd do a new guy post. I've been a LEGO fan since I was a kid and stupidly tossed a lot of toys (including LEGO sets) years ago during a move due to space constraints. If I had only known what old LEGOS are worth. For that point I could just be using them to build my eventual expansive automated (using mindstorms) train layouts that I want to build. I'm both an enthusiast and also looking into the selling aspect as well. I'm looking to start small but build a decent business focusing on LEGO products and also collectibles/pop culture/hard to find items. I figure this is definitely a way to help fund a hobby that i am more than happy to get back into.
  17. Picked up one exosuit and one research institute in store in AZ. They had limits of one per customer. Bought an architecture set as well that I had been contemplating to get the 100 buck limit for a free mini. Now should I play with the exosuit or just hold on to it for a bit? It looks pretty cool. Maybe I should build some crazy science station instead. The cool thing is one of the reps gave me a free shipping code in the store to pick up some other stuff they didn't have in store. Maybe I'll just use it to get a back ordered exosuit and at least have free shipping if under the $75 mark.
  18. That's good to hear. I imagine it's due to you buying it from an approved reseller. Wonder if things like this go against TRUs record. On a similar note I got a shipment of some now retired products from TRU and only available online and the box looked like it came out of the opening scene of Ace Ventura. This was shipped via USPS. All of the boxes inside were completely crushed. I should have taken pictures and posted them. Anyhow, that got returned to my local TRU.
  19. I just had one of my cards compromised from this breach. I was actually sent a replacement card as a precaution from my bank. The old card ends up getting used a month later. The latest try was in South Korea at a convenience store on Sunday. After that recent try the bank closed that account and issued a new card under a new account number. Another compromise on this same account which made me proactively deactivate the old card (as it hadn't been done yet) was related to some book deal scam. I can post info on it later but I get a letter in the mail regarding some invitation to a monthly book club of some sorts and that my card will be auto charged. They listed the last 4 digits of one of my credit cards. I've never done business with this company. Just sucks that people willingly cheat others.
  20. Looks like I'll be double checking sets I just recently bought at Target during their sale this week. Everything looked legit when I picked them up but never hurts to double check while still in my return period. Speaking of which, they didn't process one of my multiple orders I had while picking them up and I could have ended up with two sets for free. As mentioned a page or two ago stealing is stealing so I made sure they corrected it and charged me for the product. I felt oddly better doing that. The whole karma thing, especially as I am building inventory to start reselling.
