  1. BLDP Harbormaster's Office. Went together very smooth; better than most BLDP sets. Will be a nice companion to the Ideas Old Fishing Store.

  2. With that statement, I'd probably just take any spare change and invest in dividend EFTs like VOO or QQQM and read a book or work on my physical fitness while my accounts grow bigger and bigger. If I was given the option to go back 15 years ago and practice that I would do it without hesitation. I enjoy selling LEGO but it is also a colossal time killer and money sponge.

  6. Never tell a buy to go to a specific site off Amazon , the bots might see that as a way to divert traffic off Amazon . you made your point . You can tell them to Kindly return the item if they are not satisfied

  7. I'm coming up on 15 years. About once every 3-5 years I say that I am done and start coasting and selling down stock. I usually am over it in a few months. Second to the last time that I went dark, I missed the Cloud City set . Now, at 65 years old, I have to think about my adult daughter having to clean up my mess if I die so I really need to think seriously about my end game. But the game has been good to me.......

  8. It just depends on the parts. I'll throw you a freebie that someone else passed to me (thanks @Pseudoty😞 Set #75685, Emerald City Wall Art. $160 at LEGO. Part out is $422, but that includes 51 items in 6 lots that they do not have price data for yet. Those usually sell way overpriced for a few months until more sellers get the parts and start a race-to-the-bottom. Also, minifigs are worth about $98-$105. The lion is another $17. These are the types of sets that I look for.

  9. At LEGO LEGO Shop at Home, spend $150 and get the Micro Ninjago City set, a Maze gwp set and the Winter Gazebo. Rakuten still at 15%. Good luck finding something in stock that you want to buy. Ghost/ Phantom still in stock. I can't believe that we didn't see a sale on it.

  10. Gazebo GWP drops tonight with $130 spend...plus Rakuten still doing 15%. Who knows, the Micro NINJAGO City Gardens GWP added today might stick around for a double-stack.

  11. I should have known better but a word of caution for those newer to LEGO buying and selling. This time of year when stock dwindles it gets very appealing to pickup scraps still on Barnes and Noble, but today another package arrived shipped from some random store, a $200+ set with a hole on it and taped back box from them having the contents pulled from it and put back in and they sell it as sealed. Fortunately this time they still had the set at my local Barnes, though damaged, was still sealed. Took some convincing but was able to replace, in the past not so fortunate and they re online fraud department always looks at you like you are trying to swindle them and make you take pictures and it’s a pain in the bottom. With Barnes added shipping fee for large lego sets I am giving my member ship a break from there for the time being.

  12. It is pretty abnormal for someone to message a seller like this. It shows they are trying to get something out of you. I would hit the no reply required message. Then i would hit button reporting the buyer as being intimidating and the other button to ask amazon to investigate this transaction and only respond to questions related to did the box go to this person's address and do they want to return it. This is not a social media. This is a store. You buy something. If you don't like it or the condition, you return it. you don't start up a convo about the provenance.

  13. Just picked up four at Costco, also saw these.

  14. The advice above about not opening a store is definitely sound, but I'll play a bit of the devil's advocate and just say that I think its a matter of what your goals are. I put most of my parts into storage for now because the time to pull orders was starting to cut into family time and causing stress. Maybe one day I'll bring them back out, but for now, its not worth it. That said, I still have a small inventory that I enjoy adding to and selling. I was booted from Amazon last fall during the "purge" and sold most of my sealed set inventory to some nice members on this forum, so I really enjoy having BL to still be a part of the LEGO market. Perhaps most importantly, the profit I made from my store this past year was enough to cover my personal LEGO purchases over the year, which was the goal from the beginning when I stumbled down this rabbit hole. I'd suggest that if you are really interested, you start small, part out a few sets sets, figure out what organization works for you, keep your prices low to make some sales and attract buyers, and see if you enjoy it or not. Of those two sets, I didn't look at the overall part out values, but the dinosaurs in 75940 aren't highly desirable but at least give you a floor for your value. 43181 has terrible mini figures so maybe not a great one to start with - like 10 sales total across both in the past 6 months. Short version: if you want to have a small hobby to enjoy, go for it. If you want to grow wealth, take @raindog's advice and just invest.

  15. I think if you have to ask, parting-out is not for you. It's not a money making venture (because of time and space involved) and you will always be building "dead" inventory. Good advice proceeded this. It's for those who "really, really, really" enjoy it. Financially speaking, you will come out further ahead with a second job or just putting time into advancing your career. Unless Amazon continues to remove listings, you will never be stuck moving whole sets (although who knows what will happen next). Take any thoughts of making money out of the equation and ask yourself if you would rather play video games, play pickleball, play with your kids/friends, spend time with your wife/girlfriend, or ACTUALLY BUILD LEGO SETS!! If you would rather part out sets and organize then, well, go for it!

  16. One thing I rarely see mentioned is accounting for dead inventory. There are simply parts where supply vastly exceeds demand. Need to keep that in mind when looking at PO value. It drives up your storage space requirements the longer you run a store. It is a notable factor in the gap between perceived value and actual value when you want to sell out the store inventory. Maybe this isn't as large of an effect when you hit that 80-100k size. I've mostly been around the 10-50k size and can definitely feel it.

  17. Starting a BrickLink store is a ton of tedious work. But its work that I enjoy. If you have ever worked in a parts house, like a NAPA store, it's really no different. You won't see many customers at all until you hit at least 50,000 parts. At 75,000-80,000, things will probably pick up even more, depending on your store. There are three ways to go. If you have access to a parts distributor, you might specialize in having a ton of well-used parts, such as having at least a few hundred of most colors of 2x4 bricks or a heavy concentration of minifigs. The second way is to try to have the widest possible selection, even if that means having only one or two of each piece. Personally, I do the third thing which lies somewhere between the other two. There are many parts in which I have 100s of and I try to have a wide selection of parts but it is all give and take. There are a ton of other things to share but I will offer this: Find the space that you think that you will need. multiply that by 10x and you MIGHT have the space that you will eventually need. There are many YT videos to watch to get you started but, honestly, those are starting to look dated. You might try this one to get started:

  23. I am sure they will let you do a return and repurchase but the sale ends tomorrow, so you would have to do some type of price adjustment which will probably be harder. In other news: Rak 12%CB for Macys went through for 12% of the entire purchase price.

  31. I don't have an inventory of this size, but the thing about 2x value is that it will take awhile to even break even unless it just happens to have a lot of really desirable parts. It might take months to years to sell 50-75% of the parts from a particular set. I'm not saying its a bad idea - maybe the minifigures sell for break even right off the bat, but just something to consider. A couple of other points regarding opening a store: 1) there are a LOT of BL stores. why should anyone shop at yours? Obviously you'll get hits from people auto cart generating off of wish lists, but beyond that, you need to find what works for you to get customers to your shop. In my example above, it won't do you any good if the minifigures from a set allow you to break even but for whatever reason no one is coming to your store to buy them. 2) Time!!!! Parting out and pulling orders takes a lot of time. The more organized you can be the less time it takes, but more organization generally means more investment in space and storage. My advice is to make sure that this is something you really enjoy.

  38. The entire Black Friday sale at LEGO worked out pretty well for me. Standard PAB parts came back in, just in time to catch parts clearances, get 2x points and some decent gwps. Over the last week, I have purchased over $1600 worth of parts for my store. The only sealed sets that I purchased was the Enterprise and the Caracant Gunship and the Gunship was cancelled.
