  3. I promised I would build the giant crane and I did! After callibrating(!!!) it with a bag of rocks my daughter crafted a little paper basket to carry around some little squishmallows. The app works really well and I was impressed by the sensor features it has, like real time loading calculation and balance, still though, kind of a pain to take pictures of when you have to use your phone to control it! Also it's HUGE. I've got it sitting atop a 3x3 IKEA Kallax unit here and it's hanging off both ends, dwarfing the Medieval Blacksmith shop.

  7. Hey Brick Pickers! We are at it again with Dungeons and Dragons. 12% off code is "D&DPicker" Set (after discount) = $58.95 Box (after discount) = $156.64 We always offer FREE Shipping on orders over $75. If you have subscribed to our emails, you should have received this update, but I want to reiterate here for anyone else. We are now working more directly with The LEGO Group as an authorized reseller. That means that unfortunately we are no longer able to offer international shipping. We really hate to lose all our international community, but this was a necessary change. There are so many fake and knockoff LEGO products circulating these days and this should ultimately aid in reducing the flow of these products. As for lead times, now that we are sourcing in the US, all orders will ship to you on the official release date. That means you should have them within days of release (early September) rather than the usual weeks later (late September). We are really excited to be able to offer that as well as more official backing from US LEGO. Please feel free to reach out with any further questions. As always, happy building! Jon

  11. The new Tudor Corner is a great set. I wouldn't say the build experience was particularly revolutionary or special, but the final outcome is quite impressive!

  12. Sourced these through a local FB bulk lot purchase. 3 of about 30 80’s 90’s sets.

  13. Finally cut the seals on one of my BL Designer sets. Had a great time building Brick Cross station, but I would have gladly spent extra for printed pieces and instructions. Oddly enough, as I was on the last steps, my Tudor Corner ordered on 1 Jan arrived at the door.

  14. Set of the Year for me by far! The only set that was even close in comparison, but still a very distant second, was Snow Whites Cottage and then Batman Skyline coming in third. I have a lot of 2024 sets yet to build, the Endurance will be next then D&D, Medieval Town Square and Milky Way eventually. This is the set stock but I have 2 BL orders and a PAB arriving next week to enhance it some. The build was fast and fun and I couldn’t wait to work on it. It just looks so beautiful in person. Use gloves when handling the window elements. The 5 stickers are all on the inside and not front facing so you don’t really see them in the finished build. 12 minifigures and 5 animals. At this price or even at 20% off not an “investment” set at all. Build: 9.5 Play: 7 Display: 9 Value: 6

  15. Completed the Disney Castle. One of those sets that I waited too long to purchase but was able to acquire with some help from a new friend. Enjoyed the build with the subtle touches to movies, characters from long ago.

  19. I've been doing it for 12 years, full time for the last 6. You can't make any money at it and I wouldn't try. But tell you what, let me know what parts you have and I'll give you a decent price for them, especially minifigs. Seriously, it's just like running a car or motorcycle parts house. As stated above, you need good organization skills as well as familiarity with the parts. If you can look at a pair of legs and know that they belong to the Zeb minifig, it'll save you a ton of time over trying to look it up to discover what they are. I also determined early on that I don't want some customers. I don't want the customers that order 240 different parts, 1 of each. So I set a modest lot average minimum of $.90. I also have an $8 minimum order. True, I lose some small orders but, those are not my customers and I do not want them. I value my time more. You just have to decide what type of store you want to run. One other word of advice. Don't contribute to the race-to-the-bottom on items. If 20 people have a part and the cheapest is $.20, don't automatically go to $.19. It makes us all poor. Some store owners never seem to realize that, you can sell that same part for $.28 IF you have the other 40 parts that the buyer needs in stock. I'll gladly pay a higher price for a part NOT to have to place yet another order, with shipping. Good luck to you and don't hesitate to ask questions here.

  33. Decided to grab my 3 missing modular before the tariffs hit. Got each for slightly below market value - paid $2.2k before taxes, including a whole lot of replacement parts for yellowing. The Green Grocer had all the white very yellowed which I replaced. A lot of LBG parts were yellowed too, but most I could place in such a way that it wasn't visible from the outside. For Market Street there was minor yellowing on the white, but almost all the light blue had severely yellowed. I was again able to turn the bricks in such a way that it wasn't noticeable. Surprisingly, Cafe Corner was pristine. I now have all the Modulars (but not all of them built yet). That's next on the list. People say these early modulars are not as fun to build as the newer ones, but I had a blast doing this. Probably fueled by the fact that sometimes you are holding a $30 part, or a handful of rare slopes at $3 each. Guess that's the investor in me ;-) Sent from my SM-A326U1 using Tapatalk

  36. Last set of the year, The Endurance, and yes you are going to need endurance to build this ship. This build is not for the faint of heart. 28 bags including my first ever paper bag containing the sails, no stickers, 3 different prints (2 exclusive to this set) and NO minifigures. You begin by building a temporary stand, not the display stand, at a glib attempt to add stability to the set that isn’t really obtained until you reach bag 19. At this point you will want to clean all of the black elements that will be covered with fingerprints because the entire set is sideways SNOT built, no eating Chic-fil-A during this build. The hull is comprised of large curved panels, not bricks, making for a flimsy hollow build. The deck and stairs, also sideways SNOT built, look great as does the engine and captains quarters, which are all removable, and finally the build becomes fun. Only to be followed by the supply boats, not “lifeboats”, which are designed poorly and are tedious to get just right. By the time I got to the sails and rigging I needed a day off and just wanted to finally be done with this thing. The finished set looks amazing and it is one of the few sets that deserves one of those Limited Edition Wicked Brick display cases. Not sure if I will open up one of my Shackleton’s Lifeboat GWPs to display with it. This set is a ship of two tales, the build, only major ships worse: Maersk EEE, the stickers, and The Silent Mary the build. Display, only major ships better than the Endurance are the Sea Cow still #1 in my book and then the Titanic. Endurance is even better than the Imperial Flagship so don’t think I hate it just wasn’t much fun especially following the Botanical Garden that I look forward to getting back to. Build: 6 Play: 7 Display: 9 Value: 7

  39. I can simply remove the Kroger logo build and replace it with a KMart logo, add some different color masonry bricks to show crumbling plaster, remove all the outside displays and all the customers, leave one car, and voila, a KMart.

  45. Woke is like the Blob. Just keeps growing and consuming everything. Love the way they try to make sense of it all too. Can't kill land animals for food but kill all the fish you want. Nothing relating to fossil fuels or gas powered vehicles, but electric vehicles that are powered by fossil fuel burning power plants are ok. And if you are not sure what to do, just be "ambiguous"!

  46. Finished up my Medieval Lego phase with the Lion Knight castle, Town Square and a classic: The Sea Serpent. All great sets though the Town Square was a step down from the castle in terms of build and overall quality.
