jeremykzoo Posted May 10, 2013 Share Posted May 10, 2013 Just wondering what sets to buy. As been mentioned, rumor has the Monster Fighters and first series LOTR themed sets are being discontinued. I can personally vouch that most Walmarts and Targets have some or most of these sets on clearance so scoop some up while you can and for a nice discount. We can often times get an idea of EOL dates by watching when they all are clearing out their inventory at once. Sometimes, the Lego website gives an indication by saying "retiring soon", other times, there may be a set that will be released on the horizon or new theme that will be conflicting and TLG's historical behavior has been to get rid of the old set when the new one launches. The hunches people have here a more credible then most other things around. I'm more inclined to act on what I hear here more than anywhere else. It certainly helps spur some of my buying decisions. I am just saying it can be better to just read threads where you can get more detail on specific sets.
