Can anyone help me to understand why the market value for set: 60000-1: Fire Motorcycle, a readily available $6.99 US set, is listed here on brickpicker.com (60000) with a new market value of $21.61 and a CAGR of 209.16% as of today April 5, 2013? I guess I'm trying to understand the maths behind the value number.

Thanks in advance for your time...

Sorry if it is a lame question.

No worries man. A couple things you need to know about the system. Data regarding selling prices comes in big waves once a month. Also when a set is brand new it will often cause a huge flux in pricing as the first few sets go on ebay for a premium and then usually drop drastically to a more normal number. That's all you are seeing now. In 45 days the data will be much more acurate. If you ever curious.... recently sold on ebay is a good way to gauge a new set. Hope that helps.

Yes, the new sets have inconsistent data at times. After several months of data, outliers are removed and data becomes more accurate.

Some people must REALLY want that bike! No idea why though. There are a couple of listings for the set in December which was before it became normally available to everyone, so it makes sense for someone to pay that much on a new unreleased set. I have no idea why somebody in February would pay $31 for it though. I can still get it for $5.99 at Target since the beginning of the year.
