Toys R Us cancelled my orders for the Tower Bridge first with a standard email saying it was out of stock. Knew this wasn't the reason as it was showing 24 in stock when I ordered so I emailed them. They said that I didn't pass their security checks. Never had this before - really strange. They wouldn't comment any further. Really annoyed as I've been a TRU customer for many years and we spend a lot there but never ordered online before.

Anyway, people saying you can buy Tower Bridge from a European Amazon site and it would be fulfilled by an Amazon Warehouse. I don't see how this is possible as its sold by Amazon UK and its not currently being sold by any Amazon European sites. The risk of damage just isn't worth the cost saving to me.

True - most Amazon EU sites won't ship to UK  - only 3rd party sellers with around 44eur shipping charge.

Across all 5 Amazon EU sites the cheapest Tower Bridge is 206 quid inc the postage - from a 3rd party seller - overseas.

Toys R Us or LEGO Shop at Home are by far the better options.

Amazon EU sites do ship to the UK. I bought a top of the range Karcher Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner from Amazon.it that its sold in the UK and it was shipped fine.

Tower Bridge is out of stock at both Toys R Us and John Lewis. I thought this was an indicator it was being retired. But TabbyBoy posted on HUKD that it wouldn't retire for at least 3 years. TabbyBoy is also an active member on Brickpicker.

Just received this email from Toys R Us:

"Thank you for your recent e-mail.

Unfortunately you will not be able to place an order with us on line due to security checks.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards,

Michelle Crow
Toys R Us Direct"

I spent at least £2000 at Toys R Us stores last year on toys for my nieces and nephews. I think its ridiculous they won't give me an explanation.

Tabbyboy also trolls HDUK relentlessly .

The EU Amazon site prices is a point in time thing,  it’s not there now doesn’t mean it wasn’t a few days ago or that it’ll not come back.  You need to continually monitor sites to get the price on set you want.  Simply following HDUK is not a good strategy.

Just to note.  My tower bridge from Toys R US turned up yesterday in perfect condition.  Packed in a huge box stuffed with air bags. Hoping they'll be doing va similar deal soon on SOH

Toys R Us had a similar deal (£30 off) the Sydney Opera House a few months back

So is TabbyBoy telling lies that he used to work for Mattel etc and that he access to Lego insider information?

Just to clarify Tower Bridge has been sold by Amazon themselves on the EU Amazon sites?

I’m not going to call anyone a liar, just don’t take what he says on HDUK too seriously.

Then comment over on HDUK then. Please keep the posts here relevant to Brickpicker.

Posts not relevant to Brickpicker (or to a daily UK deal) may be (or already have been) deleted.

I spoil you guys sometimes :D

LittlewoodsIreland.ie or Very.co.uk have 3 for 2 on some Star Wars sets, particularly Shuttle Tyderium, Death Star Final Duel and the First Order Snowspeeder. They also have Ninjago's Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty and in the UK only they have Attack on Avengers Tower, also 3 for 2.

The prices are slightly above RRP, but still very good savings.

For me it worked out as Shuttle Tyderium's for €70 each and Death Star Final Duel's for €60 each.

Cheers for that.  3 Tyderium shuttles are on their way to me now at £53 each.

Sainsburys have chicken suit guy at £4 per, if you buy 5 it triggers the free chicken suit guy with over £15 spend on Lego.  So £16 for 5.  The machine explodes after that and can’t process any more so you’ll need to batch in lots of 5.  I managed 4*5’s before the natives got restless.   Only 1 out of 3 Sainsburys I hit had stock so it’s bit sketchy.

tempted to do the same.  code 3YGEU would give you another £10 off according to HDUK so make them £50 each.  don't have any of these yet (aim for four of each set i am buying to sell on) so now may be the right time to pick up three

it doesn't seem to be selling all that well as a set though.  it was soon discounted after release and continues to go for about £50-55 new on ebay.  just a bit uncertain about future demand

Are you trying to create a Chicken Suit army Diorama?

I think it's one of those that people don't realise they want until they can't get it any more.  I bought one to build last month and its a great looking model. It's RRP prob was a little on the high side but post retirement I think RRP will seem like a bargain.

That code doesn't work, by the way

I completely agree, I remember picking up a Star Destroyer (75055) from Debenhams last year in the sale at £55 so less then half price at the time, now look at what they sale for on Ebay used and MISB !! I think any iconic ship from the original 3 movies will always sale well post retirement if purchased at the right price !!

Tesco currently have the Painting Easter Eggs set (40121) for £6:

 http://shop.lego.com/en-CA/Painting-Easter-Eggs-40121

Its a retired set from last Easter but its a Tesco exclusive this year. I was wondering if it has an investment potential? Wanted to buy one for each of my nieces and nephews and wondering if it was worth buying extra as an investment?
