They used to carry Lego in the early 2000s

Lego now at Kohl's.  I haven't seen it in store yet.  Online are few selections from almost every line.
I am sure Lego will be excluded from the constant 30% off coupons, but Kohl's cash should be no problem.

LEGO LEGO Friends Stephanie's House 41314
$47.99 List $69.99

That's pretty much been the permasale on 41314 for a while now.  Should be interesting to see if Walmart or Target blows them out at a steeper discount in the next few months.

LEGO store has about 50 sets on sale in store 20 off.  Store has to have it in stock though so didn't bother with the list.

10868 41145 41146 41150 42065 42071 6154 70612 70919 75179 were ones I remember.  Pretty much all the city Jungle,  few buildables, brickheadz and other stuff.

I mentioned 21137 last weekend. LBS brick specialist I spoke with said they Just Don’t Move. He thinks they’re too big/expensive for the Minecraft target kid market and too Simple for AFOLs. Said smaller Minecraft sets fly off shelves tho. I wouldn’t buy mountain cave over 50% off, even though the number of special parts is tempting from a BrickLink part out angle. Still, not buying at $199 thought there are a couple still sitting in my local LBS. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LEGO store market and online market are 2 totally different things.  A lot of sets sell like crap in LEGO stores and some sell bad online.  Each market is different.

Not sure if you were following them at Xmas but they were one of best flips out there.   They were still limited in availability at the time which helped but still hit like $450 on ebay and $600-700 on amazon.   Plus a 12k rank for a $250 set ain't bad at all. Other comparable $250 range sets are Big Ben at 48k , Joker Manor at 50k , Tower Bridge 32k.

The set is plenty popular...

I don’t sell on Amazon. Would love to but they never answer my requests. I used to have a seller account but when I log in it tells me to register for a new one. No dice. Where does one see the ranks?

In the product information page of the listing.   They peaked at 450 on ebay week of Dec 14th.  Week before they were $350 on ebay on Dec 7th/8th.

The lower the rank the better the sales volume. Under 10k or roundabout is very good for a large expensive set.

Like the Bugatti Chiron 42083 With a rank of 4,763 for $350 retail. Could be the best flip for this Christmas. Buy a few now while you can get them...

As a long time seller on Amazon, I can tell you that they only reach those lofty prices when Amazon runs out of their stock.  In the case of this set, that was for less than two weeks.  Given the time that it takes to ship the product to Amazon and for them to process the receipt of it, you can easily go broke trying to hit that window.  Used to be, you could flood Amazon with your stock starting in September and keep it in stock until that optimum time to sell it.  However, the last few years, AZ has raised their warehouse prizes such that it is very hard to make a buck in that fashion.  It's easy to pick out a small windows in which a set had a handsome return.  Actually taking advantage of that window is an entirely different matter.

While this assessment is correct I have seen big sellers putting out large numbers of Lego sets for sales on AMZ at right about now resulting in some price drops since the demand is not there yet. It is not true for all sets but I do see seasoned sellers trying the *flood the market before Christmas* strategy. Interestingly, for one set that I have been tracking, some of these guys are not even in Lego all year long, you can tell by their names about *tech* or *nutrition*. I have always wondered how this works considering exactly what you mentioned about the cost of warehousing and now with the inventory performance index it is even more difficult to manage. Strange.?

Doesn't take much of a strategy to hit that sweet spot window.  Look at just about any set's performance and that 'sweet spot' is going to be some time in December, usually the 2nd week.  I'm no rocket scientist, but I'd guess it's because that's when the largest number of people purchase their Christmas gifts.  Sending in 500 sets in September hurts much more now due to AMZ wh costs, but one need only move that shipment forward a bit to hit that window.
