10132 - Motorized Hogwarts Express

There are a few reasons that I know of but there could be more. One is that its because trains are always hot commodities in the secondary market. Another is because its motorized. These days( mostly) the only way to motorize a Lego train is to buy the LEGO power functions seperately. Some were never intended to be motorized (ghost train) and have to be heavily modified. Lastly is because its Harry Potter. All HP are hot because the theme is EOL. Do I thinks its cool set? Yes. Do I think its over a grand cool? Not so much. I only saw 2 on ebay last time I ckecked. Are you thinking of buying one?

Are you thinking of buying one?

I did end up buying one from a friend's friend. It is sealed in a very nice box. Not sure if I will keep it closed. Think it will appreciate further over the next 1-2 years? I think the peak has been reached other than a slight bumps before Xmas.

I saw two sold on eBay recently between $400-$500. The $400 one had 'minor' box issues?

I also picked up a mostly complete open 10132 set. Looks like this will be our "holiday " train around the tree this year. Yippie Question. The 9v tracks are missing including the track with the power box (plugs into the wall). Don't know the name of this part off the top of my head. Since I have the Power Functions parts (except track), would you suggest running this with PF or 9V?
