Finished up the Enterprise-D a few weeks ago. It was a rather enjoyable build, and even the inherent repetition (due to the symmetry of the ship) wasn't particularly bothersome. The mechanism to remove the saucer section works well, and the minifigures are great. While the presence of stickers is always disappointing in a set like this, there are also several printed elements beyond the ballyhooed deflector array. (As I write this, I am reminded that I need to contact Lego for the corrected sticker sheet) Overall, this is an outstanding display piece and it gives me hope for the future of the line. Speaking of which, I can't imagine they'll do another Enterprise too soon, so I'm guessing the next ship will be Voyager...but I can't imagine a UCS Borg Cube is too far away either. Just one picture for now. Sorry for the mess...

BLD program Outlaw Forrest Den. Nothing against the designer as the set looks great, but these are by far the worst instructions of any set I have ever built including Rebrickable MOCs. Over 900 pages for 2600 pieces. In comparison Lion Knights castle has 4500 pieces and only 500 pages. It is as if he reversed engineered the instructions while he was dissembling the set 1 brick at a time. Besides that there were mistakes and this just goes to show you that Lego is not reviewing or enhancing the instructions and this makes for a horrible build experience with absolutely no flow or sense of accomplishment along the way. The build is fragile and many parts come apart along the way

This issue has been mentioned by many people who have actually built the set and in the comments on review videos. Meanwhile the LAN member, “Brick Quest” that got the set for review gave the build experience his highest rating and never mentioned any issues.

If you didn’t order this set it is definitely not worth the $350 secondary market price. Even the Minifigures, mostly female, are not worth it.

Build 1 (my lowest rating ever)

Thoughts:

I picked Blastoise first and built it over a few nights. Each night i put everything back in the box so my kids wouldn't know. They are in for a surprise tomorrow wheb we start building the base.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable build and I appreciated how the parts came together. There were a lot of pieces I wasn't used to, and some nice techniques. The end result is great, with minimal gaps. One thing that really sucked was the teeth- the instructions aren't clear for this part, it was the only instructions flaw (compared to Psuedoty's post haha). Also, I skipped the base because who wants to build a base first, give me pokemon!

It is overall sturdy, except for the back of the feet and it feels robust.

I wish it was a little more movable besides just the cannons and the head, but it looks great compared to the source material. I am not sure if it is worth the cost, but it is very well done. Venusaur next week.

I needed something fun, fast and enjoyable after that last debacle and before starting my next major set. So I went with the midi scale Tantive IV and it did not disappoint. Great retired set still readily available at 30% off MSRP.

Now onto Thieves of Tortuga! After seeing @eliminator build and several others saying this is a top tier set I had to pick it up off of BL for $444, ouch. So far everything is awesome including the instructions.

Thieves of Tortuga!

Best BLD set I have built so far, but still have a few good ones to go, Harbor Master and Transylvania Castle both are supposed to be great. The PDF instructions were good just some color differentiation struggles with some of the roofs and plants. The build was awesome with some really good new techniques, however there is some instability with the roofs, but overall the build was fun and fast with 51 numbered bags and lots of extra large elements, and only a few stickers.

There is some great detail in the rooms you can access from the rear of the set including a shrine to Red Beard, a Fortune teller, a vault loaded with gold bars and coins, and Captains Quarters with a micro Black Seas Barracuda and telescope.

13 Minifigures with 2 Royal Guards in Sand Green. The Play could be endless!

For the price Lego really needs to include printed instructions.

This is a top 10 set and if you can grab one during the 30 second last chance event for Round 5 I highly recommend it, not to mention the cost is up to $500 on eBay.

How did you get $20 KC?

I posted it in the DD thread but unfortunately with the Max Profit on steroids posts the real deals are nearly impossible to see. $10 for $50, $5 for store pickup and $5 CB Reward.

Wall-E & Eve good build, NO Stickers!

The prints are really good this is my first time ever encountering this but the brown on Walle is actually metallic copper print that is reflective but you can really only see it in hand. Just checked BL and it looks like the Project Hail Mary set has a similar metallic print so hopefully we get more of this and less stickers.

The head definitely will not droop like its predecessor but this set has its own issues. The chest cavity for storing the junk is not a hinged ramp so you have to remove the front of the set to access it. This really kills the reality for play feature but even worse is the treads do not move properly at all. Lego includes extras but either way they are either too loose or too tight. So, if your kid wants to play with this set prepare for some disappointment.

This was an all paper bag set and I am not liking the smaller bags as it is easy to lose pieces when opening them.

Overall I would give this set a strong 7

Finished Venusaur recently and it's nice, but Blastoise is better.

Venusaur is a big boi and very sturdy and all its legs move. The build wasn'tas much fun. A couple instructions could have been clearer. Also, the head and mouth were a little finicky.

On to Charizard.

Are you using the paper or the Builder App?

I haven't started mine yet and probably will wait until next winter.

The paper.

I would suggest the app for the mouths and venusaur vines. Something else with its head but I forget what

Italian Riviera I am not a fan of the color choices especially the flesh tone building but they are true to the source. Nice 360 modular style build, excellent rock work to build up the base. Pricey, if you can only get one go with the Botanical Garden set.
