City/Town

Discussion for collecting and investing in City/Town themed sets.

A lot of arctic, couple more x-games, and some diver styled sets heading out this summer.

  3. I don't have anything definate; just a page on Brickset showing that the City Corner set may be re-released this year with a new number. I'm not sure why Lego would have two rather similiar sets beside one another with the Town Square coming out later for $119.99. Maybe they think the sales of one could help stimulate the other?

Fire and police are two important parts of a city, but if you buy fire boat [for example]. Where do you put it? Same with a police helicopter, if you don't have a landing pad, where do you put it?

How come not all the sets which Lego said would be released has not yet been? For example, the coast guard set 60015?

How long do sets like the Grand Emporium(10211) stay in production? I noticed that some of the older Town modular sets like the Cafe Corner(10182) are selling for over $1000 on EBAY. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-10182-Cafe-Corner-NEW-/320781576179?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab01267f3#ht_596wt_1040 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-City-Town-10182-Cafe-Corner-New-Sealed-/300537352140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f96c0fcc#ht_581wt_905 WOW!

  11. Here's a quick list of official airplanes that LEGO has done. Red Baron (set 10024, released 2002) Wright Flyer (set 10124, released 2003) Boeing 787 Dreamliner (set 10177, released 2006) Sopwith Camel (set 3451, released 2001) Sopwith Camel (set 10226, redesign released 2012) I just honestly would like to see more classic airplanes. There certainly is a lot to choose from the first World War alone. I do like some of the airplane designs that have been done for the CREATOR theme, but those don't even come close to an "Ultimate Collector Series" style set based on a real world design. How about you guys?

Hi folks...new to investing and need a little advice. So, I ran across what I thought was a pretty good deal on a City Helicopter Arrest (60009) set at TRU for around $35. Considering it has 5 minifigs, a dog, 3 vehicles and a building I thought that was a solid buy (even though I normally shy away from City). I knew I would have to hold it long to see any potential gains so in the meantime, I'm wondering what might be good sets to pick up (at discounts, of course) to bundle with it when I do go to sell. My thoughts: 1) 60009 seems like a natural sister set with Museum Break In - 60008 (which is discounted a few places now) but do I really need another helicop…

I am surprised how long this theme has been going on and how many sets it's produced. I for one find the theme rather boring. I don't know, just too common and everyday. Does this theme really sell that well compared to other themes?

  15. Since I'm a recent buyer of Lego, I looked for several weeks to pick up a Lego City Fire Station (7208). I thought it would go great with the City Police Station and would be fun to setup and play with my son. I finally found two at Target and was able to pick them up during the BOGO 50% off sale they had a few weeks ago. I've since seen a few people pick them up for 50% off on clearance at Wal-Mart. Now the Lego City Fire Station (60004) is starting to show up at retail. I was surprised to see a new Fire Station set so soon? I personally like (7208) better and it looks more appealing with City theme, in my opinion. Which set do you think will have more longevi…

Hi guys! I have a bunch of mint, sealed road plates from back in 1997... about 25 packs of each of 6321, 6322 and 6323. Each pack has 2 plates in it of either straight, curved or cross section streets with green plate surround (grass) I am not sure of the best way to sell them. I see them average $20-ish per pack on ebay... not many new and sealed. Should I sell them individually? In sets? A bunch at once to save my time? Any advice you have would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello All - A little while back i saw a set released by lego of town mini figures - it consisted of something like 25-50 mini figure's, bikes and other city type things. Does anyone know what the set number for this was - i believe it was an older town figure set but not sure. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you think that the new city sets will have a hard time in a couple of years when they pop back up on ebay? Will any of them actually be worth buying into now, or are they something to try to find at a discount? I know that it's sort of risky buying now, just because of the sheer quantity of these sets. Let me know what you think. Also, are there any city sets that look to be potentially valuable in the future?

Hello there, I would like to present my latest scenery - reconstruction of the racetrack from 1989 poster/catalog. It is not 100% the same, but most of it is. I would have to cut some street plates to have the same effect as in the posters

  22. I have seen a bunch of Lego city sets on sale - I know a lot of them are remakes like the police stations over and over again. Are there any types which really are great investments though? Seems like a lot of the sets go down in value after they are released really quickly.
