As the title suggests....When and where possible, once built, I display my sets in a glass cabinet so the dust is never a problem. For shelved displays, what do you guys do to keep your sets looking fresh and like new? A co2 keyboard duster seems like an obvious choice, but I'm still curious if there are simpler, better ideas?

I took my boys to the Richmond VA Lego Fest this last weekend. I was really impressed that Lego kept my boys excited about building 4.5 hours. Lots of builds and games to play with no lines. My wife and daughter were supposed to attend but had to attend a soccer tournament. Boys day out was awesome. Enjoy the video.

Has anyone's kids entered the LEGO Friends design contest? Our son made two entries and he is super proud of them! The roof on the mountain lodge is questionably stable, but he managed to make it work well enough! If you want to head over to his entries and give them a thumbs up or a comment, he's loving reading the comments We'd love to see your kiddo's designs too! Recently I began exploring building sets virtually to determine if the set is worth the build value for my own desire and potentially reading into my buyer base. Here is what I do: I downloaded LEGO Digital Designer and found some instructions from sets. I have built all the Star Wars potentials and the DC and Marvel items and have found something interesting. I have discovered bricks that are new and kind of exclusive! It is fun to see that Lego has many custom bricks which has in my opinion increased the desire in the set. I also decided to design some CUUSOO projects and looked over the CUUSOO sight and what is in the works. They have some very cool ideas …

I think that this would be an awesome Holiday set, I am not aware of something like this ever being done. I better start building one and submit it to CUUSO.......yeah not! I am not that creative, someone should do it though!!

I'm on the planning stages of getting my Technic Arocs RC'ed, but having never worked with IR receivers as of yet, I am not sure how they work. Do they have to be visible or "within sight" from the controller's viewpoint all the time? Would hiding it inside the cab make transmission issues?

Does anyone have any recommendations on LED light kits? I have seen the following, but not sure on their reliability. http://www.brickloot.com/products/lego-detectives-office-lighting-kit http://www.liteupblock.com/unlimitshop/ http://www.brickstuff.com/ Any input would be appreciated.

I looked at buying the Lego Mixer set but the cost was pretty prohibitive so I decided to build my own. I hope you like it and any feedback is appreciated. It's taken me almost five months and was pretty difficult as I'm new to Lego and there was a lot of trial and error before I managed to get it right. The ride breaks down, just like the real thing and fits onto the truck bed and into the other truck in the images. I have a youtube video which shows it working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrgOIbpqKl0

I volunteered to create company logo with LEGO but can't commit due to time. Is there anywhere out there that will take a logo and create a MOC with pieces required? I started designing in LDD but just don't have the time. Money isn't a big constraint. They want to display this at a corporate event.

I just got an email for LEGO, including the instructions for all the LEGO Store Monthly Mini Builds. I'm sure we all remember seeing this amazing contraption. LEGO Mindstorms "Pinball Machine" Now that was way back in 2005. Here's a vid on YouTube that was posted in 2010 for a LEGO NXT Pinball Machine. Pretty darn impressive. Here's a link to a CUUSOO project for a smaller but similar idea. LEGO CUUSOO - Pinball Machine Now there's a thought, what if LEGO actually created a pinball set? I don't necessarily mean a full-sized table (god knows how expensive that would end up being) but how about a small table-top pinball machine? It would still end up being a bit pricey but could at least be more affordable compared to actual pinball machines, old or new. I…

  18. We can use this topic to share pictures and stories of "official" Lego prototypes (aka sketches) of products that were produced or not. Please cite the source if using info from other places. I discovered two sets of pictures today on eurobricks. The picture below is of a larger 1) Speeder Bike and 2) Tie Advanced model and was in a early 2000s Lego magazine. The official release of the UCS 10175 Vader Tie Advanced set debuted in 2006 / 2007. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=10175-1 Here is another pretty famous prototype of Yavin IV that appeared in DK's Star Wars Lego: The Visual Dictionary.

I have been rebuilding some sets piecemeal for my own collection and several times now I have need lego rope. being that it's just for me and doesn't need to be 100% original I have been trying to find good replacement string/cord/rope for the lego ropes and I just have not been having any luck. everything is ether too thin or too thick. The lego ropes do come in several different thicknesses and materials which also makes it a bit challenging. so what do you all do when you need some lego rope? it's just hard to justify the prices on the original thing...

Does anybody keep batteries in their Legos? In other words, I have the Technic Motorized Excavator and am worried that if I don't use it the batteries may corrode.

  21. Hi all, Last weekend I visited a small Lego show in the South of The Netherlands: "Bricktopia". I made a lot of HD video's and some pictures. Unfortunately the pictures were taken with my Vintage Iphone so my apologies for the quality. I saw some great models and a very nice medieval scenery. There was a table where children could do some building, that gave me extra time to walk around . I hope you enjoy the pictures!:

I know some of you are into Fantasy Baseball, Football, etc. I was curious if anyone out there keeps any kind of stats or logs? I guess the main thing that came to my head was something along the lines of a piece per minute stat. Simply meaning after opening your first bag, how many pieces can you put together per minute? I was wondering this while putting together 75082 Tie Advanced Prototype. I liked the set and everything, but seemed to be zooming through at a good clip. Although it did have a few repeat builds which made it easy. But that got me thinking if that is something to track or not? I mean it does take some brain power to be able to see what pieces are needed…

  23. So I guess you could consider me an AFOL now. Haven't built Legos in forever until I got the itch a week ago and bought the Parisian Restaurant. Now I might be addicted lol. I wanna build my own modular to connect to it now, but I'm curious on what the best way to gather an assortment of Legos it. I know the Lego Stores in malls have assorted pieces, but am wondering, is their selection small and basic or is it pretty good? Will I be able to get most of what I need from their assortment there or will I have to order parts from online? Thanks for any advise!

  24. Hi Forum Members, Greetings from Sydney Australia. I am new to this Forum (the time post a topic) as I have recently started my hobby in Lego. I have a Lego Technic 9396 Helicopter set for a while and started building it yesterday. Unfortunately the round control turning knob does not allow me to activate the different functions of the helicopter. After reviewing the gear mechanism as compared to the instruction manuals. I noted that the gear (dark grey colour) on Page 67 of Book 1 does not engage the remaining gear mechanism and as a result, the turning knob does not control any of the functions. As per the instructions, the centre of this gear is in ro…

Even though 28 years old, I still love the heck out of Tetris. And apparently so does Jameson Gagnepain (Jameson42 on flickr) with his nice rendition and 'gameplay' video. LEGO Tetris Gameplay - Jameson42 on flickr Funny....I am literally as old as Tetris! Imagine that.
